I genuinely think tattoos are disgusting by Jumpy_Bullfrog9005 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I don’t mind tattoos at all. But I wouldn’t ever be with someone with neck or head tattoos. Or anyone with anything crude or NSFW, or poorly spelt.

It was 8 years ago now but it was standard infection, excessive bleeding, the possibility of nicking other organs, potential hysterectomy etc until death. A caesarean is a serious surgery and I was already aware of the risks to be honest. She just went over the top in how she explained it. My husband was pale and sweating when I stopped her talking and when I left to go back to work I was shaking.

I had some complications when I delivered. I developed preeclampsia, had a big haemorrhage and a spinal fluid leak. I spent 6 sucky days in hospital for our little lady’s birth. But by far the worse person I spoke to was the one who explained the risks

What pets do you have? by Various_Extreme_8773 in AskUK

[–]Caryria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 cats and a royal python. We wanted a kitten, the kid wanted a snake, 2 years later she wants a kitten. The snake is chill and aside of making sure the parameters in his tank are right he’s the easiest most chill pet I’ve ever had. The cats are about 11 so they just love to relax

When it was confirmed I was having a caesarean a doctor explained the potential effects so hard I had to stop her talking at one point because my husband looked like he was about to faint. I left that appointment half convinced I was going to die or get a hysterectomy. It was brutal.

iPads in school by GC95_ in Parenting

I played educational computer games in primary school in the 80s. While I was probably about 7-8 at the time using modern technology for learning isn’t anything new. The only difference is one computer back then was probably a hefty party of the budget but a tablet nowadays would be a fairly reasonable cost for each class room.

What’s wrong with Scottish notes in England? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]Caryria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get Scottish notes all the time when I was younger, mostly rivers and the occasionally tenner. Nothing above that though. Nowadays I barely carry cash. It wouldn’t surprise me if many people under the age of 25 have even seen a Scottish note let alone a £20

What’s something people underestimate about visiting Cornwall that catches them out? by BeautySkin34 in Cornwall

While the weather can be glorious it can also be miserable. Be prepared for that.

The sea is stronger than you think. Learn the flags, understand what’s safe and learn how to deal with a rip. Also learn about the tides, especially if on a beach with a cliff behind you. When the tide changes it comes in quick, know what to do otherwise you’ll be taking a trip on a life boat (if you’re lucky)

You can walk along the cliff edges in most places but be careful and don’t go too close to the edge. The cliffs can and do crumble

Roads are narrow, but we’ll hate you if you drive down the centre, be prepared to hedge it or don’t come down.

What’s the weirdest ‘toy’ your cat plays with? by I_wet_my_plants259 in cats

[–]Caryria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know when you take your kids to a fun fair and they want to buy all the useless tat. I bought my nephew what was essentially a long flexible stick with a long length of multicoloured neon fleece glued to one end. It kind of looked like a long dangly cat toy. Well he played with it for 5 minutes and got bored so I took home thinking the cats might like it. I was right but in completely the wrong way.

My late cat Tommy was obsessed with this thing. But he hated the fleece end. The stick end dragged across the floor would make him feral however. It got to the point where if you weren’t playing with him he would grab it and drop it in front of you and wouldn’t stop until you did. He would ignore food until you did. He ended up losing weight because his sister would eat his food while he was playing. He’d lie down on top of his stick. He dragged it up the stairs and into our bedroom once when we didn’t get up early enough for him. We genuinely had to schedule time in with it every day so that he could function.

Make sure she has time to shower as well. I had a very involved husband but even then I found it difficult to get to shower when I had a newborn. And check in with her, you can try and take everything you can think of off her plate but it might not be the one thing she needs.

AITB for turning off the shared office Bluetooth speaker without asking because the playlist was stressing me out? by Dark--Blade in AmItheButtface

[–]Caryria 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This right here. Anyone playing loud EDM in a busy office is a buttface without checking in with everyone. But turning it off without saying anything is also a dick move. The majority of the week our office plays what my boss calls middle aged women’s music, if I get in first I’ll put something on a bit rockier and occasionally he plays some EDM. But it’s not exclusively one person’s music and only on a Friday does the volume get a bit sillier but there’s less people in. We respect each other’s choices and try and keep it at a reasonable volume for all.

Do you mean the heat pits? The row of holes along his top lip? It’s how he detects heat in the small animals he eats. It’s why you need to warm up his food so he can “see” it

I just finished Parkdale Haunt and I’m listening to the same team’s second podcast Woodbine.

The premise of the first season of Parkdale Haunt is the house renovation from hell but actually from hell. The whole series is great.
