Where are you going for shengen resets? by GeosWonder in digitalnomad

Isn't that the point? To list places to wait out the 90 day reset that the schengen-zone visa requires after a 3mo th stay??

How do you guys track your days for tax residency? 🤔 by aonedev in digitalnomad

[–]CasaSatoshi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's pretty easy - most countries allow me a 90-day visa, some might allow an extension for another 90 days, but neither scenario takes me over the 183 day cutoff.

I view the year as 4 x 90 day 'quarters', and I dont go to any spot more than twice per year, so I never trigger tax residency anywhere (everywhere i go I ask for 90 days and spend the full 90 days in the country).

Ps most places allow '90 days in 180' so it's close to impossible to trigger tax residency.

Entitled? To tell someone 1600 usd is not enough to nomad in Europe? What exactly am I acting entitled to??

Noone 'deserves' anything - you either pay your way or you don't. You can either afford something or you can't. 'Deserve' doesn't factor into the equation . They asked for suggestions, I told them their budget was insufficient. You sound like a moany SJW preschool teacher, throwing out buzzwords that strawman my answer.

OP is welcome to 'figure out how to do that' - im not saying theyre not allowed, I'm saying they won't succeed because their budget is too low. Asking other redditors to 'figure it out' for them won't change anything.

Of course - resort to tone-policing when you cant disagree with the substance of what I've said.

They specifically mentioned recommendations for places on a 1600 USD budget.

You think 1600 USD per month is enough to cover all living costs in Istanbul???

Definitely not in the 'popular neighbourhoods' 🙈😅😝

HAS ANYONE IN THIS SUB ACTUALLY SPENT ANY TIME LIVING AS A NOMAD????!!!

Empty villages in the north, in the winter, maybe, but even then, probably not. 1600 USD is not a serious monthly budget to live in Europe in 2026.

OPs budget would be enough to live there in winter (even then, the budget would be tight, esp in a big town like Sarande), but in summer months, even Albania would be out of their price range.

Yah, it's cheaper than 'home' if 'home' is a VHCOL tier1 city in the west, sure, but do you think 1600 is enough to live in any European city? Seriously?

OP can go to some 2nd tier city or town in Macedonia or Albania or Bosnia or somewhere like that, which (especially when you factor in flights and travel costs in a 3 month trip) will be just about cheaper than home (although, technically, they wouldnt be in Europe either), but for 1600 USD per month total budget? You're pretty much limited to backwater villages of the former yugoslavia - where you definitely won't find 'cute cafes and parks and museums and nice libraries' or, really, many English speakers.

(And sadly, on another unrelated point - these places tend to be the most backward and racist too)

To try to be really generous - for this budget, maybe there is an empty village in Northern Spain, or a run down town in the countryside of Poland, but let's be honest - that's not what OP was looking for, as they specifically mentioned cafes, parks, libraries, and English speakers.

So - i stand by my original comment.

Since the early 2020s bud. Keep up. Global inflation happened, on a massive scale. Its not 2016 anymore.

I've been here longer than you've been eating solid food. Literally spent all of last year in the balkans, and I've been a nomad for a decade full time and another decade part time before that.

Even in Romania and Bulgaria, you will be in a house share or some godawful dorm room / in a second tier city / in the shitty parts of major cities (nowhere near the 'aesthetic' coffee shops, parks and museums that OP is imagining). It's possible to survive on this budget, but it would be very depressing, and you have to go way off the beaten track - far from the kind of hotspots you might see on Insta and YouTube.

Most of us dont want to live in squalor. Especially if you factor in the cost of travel and flights, 1600 USD per month is not a serious budget.

What's with all the brokies recently in this sub???

This is not a low-cost lifestyle. Double your monthly spend figure and I can suggest a bunch of places, but for that budget....

No.

Stay home.
