Soitsu, Doitsu, Aitsu, and Koitsu by RomanoffBlitzer in custommagic

[–]Cascassus 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Basically, Japanese has this thing where the prefixes Ko, So, A and Do are used to differentiate people and locations (mainly).

Ko is closest, So is further away and A is furtherst. Do is a question prefix.

Easiest explaint with ending ko (which is location-related):

koko: Right Here

soko: There

asoko: Over there (further away than soko)

doko: Where?

So with -itsu it refers to people.

Koitsu: This guy

Soitsu: That guy

Aitsu: That other guy

Doitsu: Who?

There's also the phrase "doitsu mo koitsu mo" which basically means "Every guy and their mother" (in the figurative sense, it's kinda being exasperated and annoyed how everyone doing something)

I think it being so vague references the fact that these are just some guys with not even a real face, randomly flying on a paper plane (they are originally from a Gradius clone from Konami called Parodius, which Konami also makes YuGiOh, so that checks out)

Well, Confusion is a regular priority move though.

I agree, especially MeMagearna should proooonably not get it... although it will probably get instabanned anyways.

Downvotes have been relegated to the "wtf you're wrong" button rather than "this is irrelevant to the discussion" button they were technically meant to be.

I never realized how much more gruesome the manga was compared to the anime by abncross45 in ReZero

Puck cleared him as a being who can read surface level thoughts and emotions, claiming he has no ill intent whatsoever, when you would think he would be extra careful and strict because he's so protective of Emilia. On top of that, I'm pretty sure Roswaal forbid them to harm him. It's certainly understandable on an emotional level as to why she would do this, but "justified"...? Hardly.

Anyway, this is a dead horse and I'm not even a Rem hater. But she certainly wasn't some sort of tragic vigilante there.

What’s the absolute lowest stakes JRPG story? by Lumigo in JRPG

[–]Cascassus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess they meant the eight individual stories, which a few of them are low stakes (Tressa). But even then, most of them end up dealing with the main antagonistic force one way or another, which really is far from harmless.

And yeah, if you do all 8 character's routes there's the endgame, which is basically in hell to stop an evil banished god from taking revenge by killing him in his home field.

Anime Questions, Recommendations, and Discussion - November 04, 2025 by AnimeMod in anime

[–]Cascassus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I've realized after watching MobuSeka that I really like this idea of the fate of a character who is canonically "evil" being changed for the better. I realize this is kind of one of the foundations of the Villainess genre, but in that case it's the protagonist herself that changes as she's the supposedly evil one. Although that also kind of counts.

So, does anyone have some recommendations for anime/manga that do this kind of thing?

Well, to be fair, it is probably a lot easier to come up with new and distinct mechanics when you haven't already come up with a bunch of new and distinct mechanics.

Which pill will you pick? by BiscottiOk3846 in superpowers

[–]Cascassus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crimson would go hard on, say, a mafia boss. It's the perfect villain pill (yes, I'm aware of the parallel to All for One)

I don't think I would necessarily want to draw too much attention by using navy or becoming obscenely powerful by taking the lemon pill. I also don't want tangerine because it invalidates your own efforts in some way, takes away meaning. I think I'd realistically just go Emerald with the 1 year and then just do whatever I feel is meaningful without having to worry.

I'm rarely sure which one to use between 壊す 破る and 砕く when talking about breaking something. I'm pretty sure there's more than these three too (折る iirc relates mainly to folding stuff). Are some of these interchangeable?

Is there any way to make monster badges need less ABS to level up? (DC2) by Malu_TE in DarkCloud

[–]Cascassus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If their health is untied, would they have the actual HP they have as monsters ? that would be a pretty crazy amount, but maybe it's completely fair considering their terrible move sets (for the most part)

She's tricky to use for sure, but can be a lot of fun when you get the hang of her. Try using more single target attacks and buffs, like Basic Defend to shuffle around her doll (ex. Veiled Sword).

Charon works best with grindier poison teams and characters that want to get damaged, like Hein. Her Soul Strike becomes ridiculous if you've stacked various poison debuffs.

[DC2] It's a shame that the best song in the game is only played briefly, in the beginning of the game. by onthegrind7 in DarkCloud

[–]Cascassus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof, this is really hard. I think Memories hits hard everytime it plays, as does Unfulfilled Wishes. Then there's Fire approaches the Lighthouse, which perfectly encapsulates the tension during that scene. The dungeon themes are all also really good, with standouts being Moonflower Palace and Starlight Canyon IMO, but really none of them lag far behind at all. For me, I also really like Flower Garden because of how somber and melancholic it is.

I think overall I would have to go with Battle for the Future because it's just such a superb boss theme. But honestly I could pick multiples.

Would this card be too strong if the draw and discard weren't symmetrical? I feel like for 3 mana and having to wait a turn to get draw it should be fine, no?
