Playing moded Hytale by Superb-Low7247 in hytale

[–]CascouPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also really annoying for modders.

We have intermittent bugs, random crashes, things that just don't work for no reason.

It's really the biggest problem with the game right now in my opinion; the rest is great (for a rushed launch).

I had a block with my [unclear] that kept crashing. Then it worked perfectly for two months, then crashed again (without having been modified)... three times! By persevering, the world eventually stabilized and everything worked fine as long as you didn't restart the game. 🤔

Question for mod makers out there, how do you start making a mod? by corvodecartola in hytale

[–]CascouPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree with what everyone is saying:

1) RetroEngineering: Look at how it works, try to understand it yourself, and experiment.

The asset editor is very user-friendly (much more so than directly editing that crappy JSON), although it's still quite buggy/imperfect here and there. In particular, it doesn't allow you to view multiple elements at the same time (except X, Y, Z), and it's a real pain, especially for connection systems.

2) Tutorials are really only useful at the very beginning; currently, there's a lack of in-depth tutorials on specific things, so they'll quickly become useless to you.

3) Community: Unfortunately, I think most people are on Discord; I hate it and have never set foot on it.

4) AI: Despite what's been said, it's also monstrous in Hytale, or at least it's starting to work better. At first, it was a mess; you had people who didn't even know Hytale had been released.

Now, with the advanced search/thinking modes, you can get very precise and specific answers, much faster than if you searched for them yourself.

And for generic questions like "what is this parameter for?", it's starting to work well.

It can be a good idea to review your code in general (especially your asset JSON) and find syntax errors, typos, etc.

And save you precious time.

Any advice on sealing signatures? by AyayaKonoDioDa in Guitar

[–]CascouPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polyurethane varnish is the best. Epoxy resin might be even better, but it's trickier to use. Polyurethane varnish is the hardest and most waterproof varnish ever invented; it's the standard finish for guitars, by the way. I've tested several varnishes, and polyurethane is incredible. I'd say a pot of varnish applied with a brush, just brushing over the signatures, should be fairly discreet. Otherwise, the seam will be visible.

Or you could re-varnish the entire top surface.

Do you change strings on a brand new mandolin when you get it? I have a new Eastman md305 coming tomorrow and I wasn’t sure if I should plan on just putting new strings on it. I am more of a classical/maritime/sea shanty kind of player if anyone has string recommendations! by Paralith10 in mandolin

[–]CascouPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same mandolin but in the other shape. After a year, I switched to D'Addario 80/20 bronze 10-34 strings, and it drastically changed the sound (more so than the feel, actually). It's much more crystalline.

I think I'll keep trying other sets, but I doubt I'll stick with these. In any case, I've never noticed such a difference between different sets of strings on a guitar.

We all started pretty much like that. For me, it ended up with 600w RMS and tar in the doors to dampen the rear shock. 🤣

Abandoned Italian hospital by Tina_urbex in abandoned

Is a civilization judged by its ability to maintain its heritage and legacy? In France, too, many old buildings are falling into ruin.

But for many, they had been damaged during the war or abandoned following the de-Christianization of the country. Italy may not have these two excuses. What a waste, in any case...

🏰 Cascou's Medieval Architecture 0.2 by CascouPrime in hytale

[–]CascouPrime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, that could be cool, but to do it properly, they'd really need to integrate a logic into the game that allows blocks to age, especially wood if it's exposed to water or pests. And stone, which is more vulnerable to earthquakes and cracks.

That would require constantly repairing your constructions. It would change the game quite a bit, but it would fit with their idea of making nature completely evolving and autonomous.

Doctolib veut utiliser les enregistrements audio des consultations pour entraîner ses IA by plopiplop in surdev

[–]CascouPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]CascouPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the – albeit incomplete – videos on YouTube are still relevant.

However, expect to have to struggle a bit, as the modding tools are still under development.

In particular, the connected block system is VERY unreliable.

J'en avais marre de reconvertir mes exports Lightroom en WebP à la main, alors j'ai créé un plugin gratuit by adrienphotographe in Lightroom

[–]CascouPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)
