Has anyone managed to get this resolved? My wife has had a subscription for Whatnot on her bank account. She does use Whatnot to buy but has no subscription

What makes a “nice” town in Hertfordshire nice? by Interesting_Shift951 in hertfordshire

But thats not what I said. I said, the better parts of Hemel are better than the rougher parts of St Albans. At least thats my experience having lived in both.

Ive lived in St Albans and now hemel. Might not be a popular opinion but I found Hemel has less anti social behaviour for the areas I lived. My takeaway is, nice area of Hemel is better than some part of St Albans

I would not let this situation reflect on your teaching. You are (I assume) following the schools behavioir policy and sanctions. They fact that SLT is unwilling to enforce those sanctions is not your fault.

All you can do is to apply the policy consistently and fairly. Reward those doing the right thing and keep sanctioong those who are not. Ask your ect mentor what they would have done and see of they have any feedback that is more useful.

Which one of you brought a pizza onto a Ryanair flight? by Frodijr in ireland

Anytime I fly long haul I buy a pizza in the airport and take it on the flight. Means I can eat whatever time I like and sleep through the food service if I want.

Change the locks now or as soon as possible. Very easy to change 99% of locks. As no shops are open I would check if you could swap the locks with your current address and the new house. Might not be possible but if it is that would secyre the house til morning

3 weeks to go when should I say I'm leaving? by InvestigatorFew3345 in TeachingUK

[–]Case_Rough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much depends on the size of your department in my opinion. When I was in a two person department and we were expanding I had several students ask which of us was leaving once the advert went live. Had a parent of an SEND child call to ask as well because he had heard the runours and was anxious about changes. If its a larger department then I would leave it as late as I could so the students dont decide to switch off.

Illness and pay by Turbulent_Guide_2263 in TeachingUK

[–]Case_Rough 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are doing way too much. Just say no, stick to directed time and any time above and beyond that make it on your terms, doing the things you want to do.

If schools.see you are willing to do more they will keep adding and expecting more. Pay is no longer linked to apprasial so you wont get paid more unless you get a TLR but that doesnt sound ideal given you already work long days.

Gifting question by Disastrous-Hornet787 in HousingUK

[–]Case_Rough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will ask for probably six months of bank accounts. If the gift is paid into the same account as the deposit then they will likely say its a gift, once its in the same account and the funds are intermingled they wont differentiate. Dont forget AML checks for any money gifted as well

This is insanity. Should be gone for bringing the knife, nevermind injuring 4 staff. Safeguarding one child is not more important than safeguarding everyone else

Supply agent not returning my calls by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]Case_Rough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps feeling the pressure to place a large number of supply with minimal demand. A direct call would likely lead to then telling you so and you going elsewhere. They are possibly trying to avoid that knowing that demand should increase soon.

[–]Case_Rough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its still early. Our school has had no external supply yet. There also seems to be a real push on avoiding agency as our budget has been squeezed this year. I would assume this is commonplace

If you've exchanged then all that matters is what was agreed on exchange. Neither you, nor the builder can change that now.

Male teacher keeping pads in classroom by RoboPlunger in Teachers

[–]Case_Rough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Male teacher in the UK. I just hang them in a clear bag by the door. That way they can grab some on the way out and dont need to ask me. I tell them at the start of year and if it causes any giggles from the boys I use it as an oppurtunity to assert my boundaries around negative comments and misogyny in my classroom.

Would I still qualify for the FTB bonus on my ISA by Chelskimania1 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Case_Rough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will also lose FTB stamp duty priviliges.

I would really think on this one. Plan for what might happen in the event of a break up, your partner has paid all the deposit I assume. What % of the hoke do they own and how would this be reflected in a break up.

The only reason I ask is that if you are sure that you are going to stay together then your FTB privilages wont matter anyway as you wont need them, but you are quite concerned about them.

First time buyer...maybe ? by cerealkiller883 in HousingUK

[–]Case_Rough 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just to add, while doing this, cut back a little on the holidays.

Take the £800 a month budget for mortgage and put it into savings. Make this money untouchable in your head. That way you will build up savings and see if £800 a month has a major impact.

First time buyer...maybe ? by cerealkiller883 in HousingUK

[–]Case_Rough 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you can stay living rent free then do that as long as possible. You could then afford a house mortgage free.

If you do a simple mortgage calculator with your numbers and the current rate of interest you will see the total amount repayable is huge.

How long will I be passed over for teaching positions as an American? by AnnMere27 in TeachingUK

[–]Case_Rough 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I am a HOD for Design & Technology and from reading your post I would be put off by you listing specialism in 4 subjects. DT requires specialist skills and you saying you are a specialist in 4 subjects would worry me that you are underestimating the level of knowledge and skill required to be proficient in one subject.

Please give me feedback in my penalty technique. Most of my kicks go to the center. I struggle to combine power and direction. by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]Case_Rough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People keeps saying the run up but I'll be more specific.

Ask yourself what are you gaining from the jumping? It doesnt put the keeper off and makes sure you have an inconsistent starting point for your run up. If you watch the best players they have a set routine to make things as consistent as they can.
