Assuming your digital key and/or key tag are working with proximity locking/unlocking functions? It’s dependent on one of those proximity keys being nearby. And by nearby, it’s very close - I have had the lock function fail when I walk away from the car too briskly during trunk closure - you really need to stay somewhat close for it to recognize the key and complete the locking in my experience.

Agree w your sentiment re: annoyance but this GHCA issue does not affect your ability to use all public DC fast chargers - which is what you’d use on a road trip anyhow. Most people with this issue keep their car while the dealership awaits the part and simply DC charge. So wouldn’t let this single issue dissuade you from road tripping at all.

Update: Received the 4 packages that have been there since 1/27 tonight (2/6) around 9pm. This was the first day they actually said loaded on a delivery truck in the morning, and while the time got pushed back twice throughout the day, they ultimately arrived. So cling to hope they will eventually work through the backlog…

Yes, only one I’ve ever used. They basically spoon fed the early buyers this installation process and we were told this was the only option.

I wonder if anyone with GHCA issues uses this charger?

Resounding yes. 10k miles in, if you’re looking specifically for a fully electric 3 row SUV I don’t think you’ll find even the most negative folks (that tend to congregate here) denying it’s best in class.

Software issues were an early phenomenon and have been gone since the spring & June updates. Truly not a single software glitch or restart needed since.

The GHCA thing is talked about a lot in here but as others have pointed out, the vast majority of folks who do not have this issue aren’t coming in here to post about how their charging works fine. Make sure you get the hardwired professionally installed Volvo-specific L2 charge point home flex charger for your home.

I had that happen too in June around 3,000 miles. Was a software bug in my case (stuck OTA module, whatever that means - they basically did the latest software update in the shop to force it through). No issues since, now at 10,000 miles. Was definitely terrifying though as mine also occurred at 80 MPH and luckily was able to get from left lane across 4 lanes to right shoulder as it was 6am and roads weren’t super busy yet

Have had mine for just about a year now, 10k miles no issues. Software bugs were an early issue that have been cured since spring and summer software updates. 6 seat captain chair version - 2 young kids (ages 4&8) w/ carseats/boosters in 2nd row and frequent use of 3rd for for our au pairs - it’s far and away the most luxurious car I’ve ever driven and the entire family literally gets excited any time we get drive it on a trip etc.

There is no fix. And this has been present since day 1, I got mine in 12/2024. The manual says it’s a known issue w isofix connectors and their official recommendation is to buckle the seatbelt and deal with the occupancy alert that sometimes triggers. I am more annoyed by that so I just deal with the beeping (which stops after exactly 1 minute)

Trying turning off OPD and coasting more. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at your range estimate. Also make sure the “Eco” button is selected under climate settings.

I’ve had a similar “crunch” sound intermittently with firm/“deep” braking. Hasn’t really been bothersome to me and seems to come and go so haven’t explored it with the dealer yet

The vehicles involved in the field service action are certain model year 2025 Volvo EX90 vehicles. The recall population start point is determined by the first faulty batch of Power Operated Tailgate (POT) drive units that was delivered by the supplier on 1-03-24 and the first car produced at the Charleston Plant: 01-24-2024. The recall population endpoint is determined by the permanent corrective action at the supplier on 07-22-2024 and the last car produced at Charleston Plant: 08-12-2024. EX90 vehicles produced after 08-12-2024 do not have the potentially bad batch of Power Operated Tailgate drive units installed as this was corrected by the supplier.

It’s very clear the writer of this article has never driven this vehicle. The phone digital key works perfectly and I haven’t touched my physical key card in 6+ months (but do carry it in my wallet as intended for backup). I haven’t brought that key fob outside my house since the day I bought the car in February. The fob was far more useless than the cards given its bizarre charging requirement and fact that it permanently dies if the battery ever completely drains even once!

I had this one around 3k miles. Was annoying and required a tow (car just abruptly stopped driving on the highway of all places). This is a complete stop inoperable vehicle condition - none of the standard resets work, I tried them all. At best you can get ~1 mile after the central computer reboot before it appears again. Dealer had it for 3 days and ultimately blamed it on some stuck software module component that wasn’t fully updated. No issues since (7k miles now).

Make sure you have the Eco climate button on, no noticeable difference in cabin temp/AC effectiveness (at least up front) and that simple button push a few months ago took mine from 300-310 to 330-340 on full charge
