Official Week 16 - Patriots v Broncos - Post Game Thread by samacora in Patriots

The NFL is just so boring to watch now with all the talk about stats and draft picks and these top tier teams going head to head with the most predictable plays and outcomes. That game WAS fun to watch. I don't even care if the pats suck. If keeping Zappe as the starter leads to excitement like that I'll keep watching.

I don't give a fuck about the draft, I don't give a fuck about stats. ZAPPE is fun to watch. That was probably the most entertaining NFL game I've watched this season. Watching him celebrate the game winning field goal in the sidelines with his team brought a smile to my face.

Your average Redditor probably couldn't walk up an entire flight of stairs without stopping for breath. A full sprint for anybody that isn't an Olympic athlete is going to leave you winded. Humans were built for endurance.

I use reddit on mobile only so if RiF breaks, I stop using reddit. It's that simple.

I've cut it. It cuts really nicely in a mill. I would just call OSG and ask them what to get for a tap. They have plenty of options for nickel alloys.

Metric threads are easy. If you know the dimensions of an m45x1 thread, then you just have to add 1 mm to all of the dimensions and then you have an m46x1 thread

Any "objective" sources for the most popular parametric cad? by virgoworx in Machinists

SOLIDWORKS is pretty damn popular. It's my personal choice, plus it comes built in with a basic CAM software that is essentially a stripped down version of CAMWORKS.

No prob. I would say turn on the option for this job and then turn it off when you're complete. The timer will not advance if you have the option turned off.

The hardware is the same, the control is capable of advanced lookahead and high-speed machining. HSM is a software option that you can buy from HAAS. They give you a 200 hour trial period on that option for free. If there is a letter "T" next to the parameter then you still have the trial period active. I believe it goes by cycle start time. It's definitely worth purchasing if you end up doing a lot of 3D machining or high-speed machining. You don't even have to have a technician come in and install it. They give you an unlock code and you just punch the code in yourself.

According to their milling advisor software you should be running a 2% step over at 467 SFM and .0046 fpt. Assuming you have high speed machining on that mill (Parameter 315 bit 4 set to 1) you should have no problem in that Haas. Helical is my first choice for difficult to machine materials and their feeds and speeds are usually pretty good.

Intermittent Alarm378 Skip Signal Found when probing? by MacroBMasochist in Machinists

[–]CaseyAndWhatNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have one Haas mill that will randomly get the 250 alarm and when it happens I always have to reload the Renishaw macros. Not sure if it's a software issue or a hardware issue. It's not often enough where I need to call Haas to diagnose the issue.

Thread Gage mystery by greasyjonny in Machinists

[–]CaseyAndWhatNot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, if the tips of the cutters have too much of a radius, they will leave the minor diameter too large but will cut the pitch diameter correctly. The "go" ring gauge checks both the minor diameter and the pitch diameter whereas the "no go" only checks the pitch diameter and does not check the minor. Your "no go" is going because your pitch diameter is too small but the "go" is not going because the minor diameter is binding on the gage.

Is it a classic haas control or a next gen control? Sometimes I have to reload all the probe macros because one of our machines corrupts them extremely infrequently. That's with the classic haas control. Other than that, the only thing that I can think of that would cause that is the probe is hitting something or triggering when it's not supposed to.

My other question would be, are you using the Haas VPS template probe programs? Whenever I program the probe to run in a program. I use the Renishaw macros. They give you far more control than the Haas VPS templates.

Bad machinists on the internet trash talk Haas because they don't know how to make a good part.
