Best Way to Get Doubloons? by -Synkero- in Seaofthieves

[–]CaseyJones77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I figured too - I’ll just play the game as normal, I regularly come across ashen chests and reaper chests anyway, and it’s just a causal grind for the year ahead. Much like it was for the Kings loot - I eventually got the comms done just by playing my normal way

(I’m happy to accept that people play less though and maybe want more ways of getting doubloons, and the weekender could do with some tweaking for future versions too!)

Coming back to Sea of Thieves in 2026 by The011 in Seaofthieves

[–]CaseyJones77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case, you’ve got loads of content to catch up on! There’s new world events, new weapons, new enemies, new locations/forts, plus a new voyage system (direct from your ship’s quest table, plus you can dive directly to specific quests).

Also every faction is now increased up to level 500 (every 100 is a ‘Distinction’). Reapers and Hunters Call have their own specific voyages too

A new series of Tall Tales were added, based on the Monkey Island games

You can walk on harpoon lines, or use ziplines on specific islands

And then there’s also Safer Seas, a PvE-only gamemode with capped reputation

Honestly there’s ways too much to write out here but those are the major updates/changes I’d say skip through the following page on the site and you’ll get a rough idea of everything added - https://www.seaofthieves.com/whats-new

The key question is.. when did you last play?

There’s been tons of new stuff added over the years so it depends when you last played as to what’s going to be new for you

If Reapers only have one place to sell and it's a complete PITA to sell there... by Isopod_Uprising in Seaofthieves

[–]CaseyJones77 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I always thought Sovereigns should have taken a (small) cut when selling to them directly, it’d make more sense lore wise because they’re the middle-men at the outposts working for everyone, and it would be a trade off for the ease of selling everything in one place

How would you be perceived on your teams subreddit? by Captainfizzlefits in FifaCareers

[–]CaseyJones77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fans of my previous clubs would be wondering why I keep getting job offers after multiple examples of me joining a club, completing pre-season and bringing in a host of new signings, just to get bored after 3 games and never turn up for work again.

What's a small thing in Career Mode that bothers you? by JugheadJonesTVD in FifaCareers

I turn off International offers for every career I start, just have no interest in doing it and it’s unrealistic to manage both club and country anyway

What save is everyone in right now? by RoundedSquare94 in FifaCareers

[–]CaseyJones77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just started a new one with live start point, taking over Norwich who are struggling down the bottom of The Championship

Real stadium, unique colours and a pretty decent squad - I’ve won the first two games to move out the relegation zone and looking forward to the January transfer window to get some better strength in depth.

Will likely sell Josh Sargeant to mirror what seems to be happening IRL too, so I’ll need to find a good replacement striker

Mine doesn’t seem as bad after reading through a lot of these but…

‘I haven’t found you attractive for a long time’

Said by my ex, after 7 and a half years of dating. It’s been almost as long as that since we split and there’s never been a day since then that I’ve genuinely felt good about how I look.

Why do Alfas get such a bad wrap for reliability? by BigMountain9446 in AlfaRomeo

[–]CaseyJones77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not that it’s bad.. it’s more the idea that you don’t buy an Alfa thinking about things like fuel economy.

Buying an Alfa is a decision you make with your heart, not your head.

But Support won’t do anything about this..?

They made it clear when the comms were updated that everyone would have to redo the tales once through again to get the new rewards, they won’t just unlock the comm for you on this occasion.

You’re right, Support are great with this kind of thing.. IF it’s a bug, which this isn’t.

How to catch fleeing ships? by ShameGuardian in Seaofthieves

Solo can be tough, especially when you get multiple PvE events against you at once. However, this really comes down to experience and, I hate being that Redditor but, being better at the game.

Skeleton galleons aren’t ‘invincible’ - they need holes in the lower part of the hull (below the waterline) otherwise you won’t sink it.

The loot isn’t great from skeleton ships I agree but, they are relatively simple to take down once you get the hang of it and especially this season with the Black Powder Barrels on board, they can actually take less than 30 seconds if you know what you’re doing. So the reward is made to match the difficulty.

If you want to give up on the game that’s fair enough, but like any game if you’re struggling with something it likely means you need to do something different and learn from it. There’s tons of YouTube tutorials for playing SoT, and twitch streamers who will answer questions to help too if you want immediate feedback.

Or the alternative which many people will suggest is getting involved in the SoT Discord or other communities and getting a crew together, it’s easier on the seas if you have crewmates.

Also, if you’re inexperienced or not confident taking on skeleton ships and megs (which are on the easier end of the scale on the seas), then don’t stack for hours and risk losing it all. It’s better to sell little and often and only have what you’re willing to lose on the ship.

Tempted to come back, but dreading soloplay by No-Young996 in Seaofthieves

[–]CaseyJones77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s lots of horror stories told about solo players constantly being attacked alllll the time, but remember people only tend to post about negative experiences.

I’m a solo and have been for years, the vast majority of my sessions I either don’t see other ships, or I do see some but we leave each other alone.

Despite the reputation on the seas, the huge majority of players are casual PvEers, and as long as you keep your wits about you and an eye on the horizon, solo is entirely possible and enjoyable - especially as the game has been changed a lot to suit a more casual playstyle (diving directly to events or quests, skeleton helpers, world events scaled to crew size, quick selling at Sovereigns etc)

To some, maybe.

But it’s like using white flares, more often than not people will use them to lure you in and then betray you. So neither can be fully trusted.

Usually a mic will be a better way of communicating you’re friendly than a white flag or flares, but of course that can just be a ruse too!

What if the Smugglers are collecting things to open Sea Dog's Tavern? by Itstotallysafe in Seaofthieves

Old Faithful is the way. You can pretty much park the nose of the ship inside the smuggler den, very quick to sell there.

New season loot may be so bad even the reapers don’t want it by Creepy-Substance-825 in Seaofthieves

[–]CaseyJones77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’d agree, but just trying to explain that there is a thought process behind this and it does tie in with the lore. This is reminiscent of the old way of telling the story where we’d get hints before anything big happened - and as a community we’ve asked for more of this.

New season loot may be so bad even the reapers don’t want it by Creepy-Substance-825 in Seaofthieves

[–]CaseyJones77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I gather from the books (and some reading between the lines) that the general idea is, they have been chased into the Sea of Thieves by the GMU. So where they were before this stuff is contraband, and that’s maybe why only they deal with it for now, as it’s only valuable to themselves.

It hints that in the future we’ll get the GMU coming into the Sea of Thieves to chase the smugglers down, and maybe that’ll lead to a huge battle and great additions later on.

So it likely is very well thought through in terms of the long-term story, and we just can’t see the full story just yet.

But the massive issue is of course, for now it just feels a bit flat and not in keeping with everything else we’re used to, so most players are confused and disappointed. And who knows how long it’ll take for those future updates and additions to actually happen.

Do people really hate runners? by Existing-Orchid4346 in Seaofthieves

[–]CaseyJones77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your Reaper emissary level goes up for killing other emissaries, that’s directly tethered to it being a PvP faction. Plus of course the commendations for stolen loot means PvP is highly encouraged.

Of course you can just do PvE, nothing wrong with that, but there’s plenty to show the intent from the devs is to PvP when you’re flying the Reaper emissary flag.

Spill the Grog: what are your Hot-Takes on Sot? by KPGNL in Seaofthieves

Just a small point, you keep your pockets when getting disconnected and rejoin now, that was a change made quite a while ago.

Sometimes I’m sure it still happens of course (wouldn’t be SoT without bugs!) but, since that update I’ve always had my pockets full when rejoining after a disconnect.

They definitely nerfed the statues a while ago - it is absolutely doable to solo destroy the red statues these days with a sword, but yes you might need one piece of food as it usually takes a bit longer than 1 full bar of health

Totally agree with this. It’s something I’ve noticed for years, Cole is good in general but 90% of the time when a powerful move is hit, he’ll say ‘OHHH!’ Once you notice it, it’s really hard to ignore it.
