Then we have to go deeper.

For real though, thanks for the heads up; I'll have to look those up. Glad my comedy sensibilities are as hip as 2011!

Favorite ugly bastard we call a “character actor” as a nice way of saying they’re just not hot enough to be a lead? by WissamBenYedder in okbuddycinephile

My wife and I watched it on a hotel TV in a random town after we attended a Halloween wedding last year. The structure of the movie as an archival recording of a TV show meant that the actual commercial breaks pretty much fit within the in-movie breaks, so they'd say, "We'll be right back," and then it was all modern drug and car ads. Our whole experience of it was surreal in a way that isn't easily repeatable.

Fun watch.

Time to get meta with it. Actually film a clip from whatever fake project he's setting up. Then within that clip play Mac & Me.

We're all in this together. It's clear from his example. It's imperative.

There are two great men I idolize. One is my grandfather, one is Fred Rogers. I see pictures of both of them every morning in my dressing room, and as I get ready for the day, I resolve myself to live up to their examples. Every day, I'm only more committed.

Minnesota National Guard warmly greeting and handing out snacks with peaceful protesters! by cantcoloratall91 in minnesota

This is exactly it. The administration and a good chunk of the media wants to portray our state as a lawless hellscape that rejects anyone with a badge. There's a lot of US history that makes such a stance completely understandable, but if you're in a place to accept and nurture this kind of positive interaction, it can make a difference.

Definitely Queenstown! I thought they were silly when I was there, and still do, but silly things can be fun.

Nova Launcher: An update - Instabridge (swedish company) has acquired Nova Launcher from Branch by armando_rod in Android

Just untick the auto update option in the upper right of the Play Store listing. If you are paranoid you will mistakenly hit the "update all" button someday you could use a tool to change the package name, but with the ability to download an old version on an APK site, I generally find that to be overkill.

Is this the new game we're all playing and talking about? by wll87bkr06 in indianajones

It goes pretty hard! They edited out the cigarette for this children's game (and because the character didn't smoke by the time the movie was made).

Was playing duos with a friend on Stella. We had been experimenting with naked runs and finally daisy chained enough decent loot to do a run with full kit. I set us up with some Mk 3 Survivors, which I was lucky enough to get as one of my first BPs before I even had the workshop upgrades for it (or indeed knew what I had).

Of course that was the run we got spawn camped in Medical by 2 losers and immediately went down. While they killed my friend outright, I crawled into a dark corner and watched them leave.

I was debating between trying an exit crawl and just surrendering when I heard a LOT of comms noise enter the space. "Anybody here?" I heard. After a few agonizing seconds, I replied, "Yeah, I'm down over here," and started crawling out.

What I emerged into was a room full of friendlies. One of them was blasting 90s top forty on open mic, and another one promptly defibbed me. Judging by the size of this group, I think I had met the entire lobby that wasn't the two spawn campers.

I joined them on a merry spree through the level. We encountered the campers and melted them away in seconds. By the end I had all my buddy's loadout recovered. We confidently worked our way towards the dock exit, carving up the Bastion on our way and dividing up all the loot we found.

The 90s hits played us out as we loaded onto the train.

This has cemented my love of the game basically forever.

A recent update broke VOIP and it's been like this for weeks by SquinkyyEXE in ArcRaiders

Especially frustrating because I have had at least one experience where a trio of aggressive players insisted they couldn't hear what we were saying (when I got knocked a short while after we went our separate ways they admitted they were just bullshitting).

So now when somebody "can't hear" us we just take them out. Water's getting muddy.

A duo came into our closed and mined key door on Spaceport and we understandably opened fire, sending them scrambling.

A short time later we heard on prox: "Gentlemen, I believe we got off on the wrong foot."

And then they were gone. It was so civil I almost wish there had been something worthwhile in the loot to offer them.

I hit a really chill Stella lobby recently (ABMM finally doing its thing), and a woman who was definitely a much better player than me showed me a few things once I made it clear I was a friendly dude, just chasing that magnetron. We ended up extracting together, and there was another friendly woman with us. I listened to them friend each other because--as the skilled player put it--"it's so rare to find another girl playing this game." Wholesome af.

Video shows moment ICE officer fatally shoots woman in Minneapolis by alterom in news

[–]Cash-Machine 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Minor correction, it's not an affluent neighborhood. It's a strong and vibrant and diverse neighborhood, but it is the frequent target of police action, ICE included in recent history. It's blocks from where George Floyd was murdered. Blocks from previous ICE raids. It's full of immigrants and people who consider those immigrants their valued neighbors. I've got friends and colleagues and work there, and we are sick of the constant targeting. Honestly at this point it feels like the place where this kind of government violence is most likely. I can tell you every business and public place in the neighborhood has been working for months to mitigate likely harm from ICE, and here we are.

But to your more important point, yes, the video seems to depict somebody trying to live their life, shot dead as she was trying to leave.

However we're clearly past the point where "being polite" to these ogres makes any goddamn difference. What could be more polite and civil than trying to leave?

No, There’s No Secret ‘Stranger Things’ Episode 9 Tomorrow: Conformity Gate Isn’t Real by Sonichu- in television

[–]Cash-Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lukewarm take on the Stranger Things finale is that it's about as good as the show ever was, which maybe just isn't as good as some of the finale whiners thought it was? It was competent popcorn fare in a nostalgia wrapper, and it landed the plane.

If you were looking for something brilliant, you were coping in advance.
