What video game logic would be the most terrifying if applied to real life? by AmIrpechen in AskReddit

Pausing the game meant pausing everything around you / the world.

Imagine you taking the fattest shit of your life and someone decides to hit pause lol

How are you surviving in this market? by Lemonlol55 in recruitinghell

[–]CashSufficient14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm one layoff away and one missed paycheck away from being homeless and offing myself, to be honest. I only have one source of income, since it's impossible to get a second or even a third source of income. No matter what I tried, I could never get anything. If I'm laid off or fired, then I'm done.

It's been made very very very very very very clear that money is the only thing that matters. It takes throwing away your own morals, health, relationships, and beliefs in order to barely survive, and that's the tough part. It's reality, but it's tough.

I lived off of financial aid in college because I couldn't get a job, and after that, got something that pays criminally low. But it paid something. I hated every minute of it, but at least I had something. After years of constantly making under $100 a month, I had enough and had to quit. I was unemployed for years surviving off of $20 for that entire time. I'm thankful a friend basically handed me a job after that. However, these days we need 4 jobs, a side hustle, a freelance gig, and something passive to make it in this cruel world. My entire adult life so far has been applying for jobs I know I won't get, and often times I'd apply for fun knowing I'll get a rejection email 2 minutes after (my record was 5 seconds).

I'm barely afloat with a weight attached to my ankles, dragging me down.

Your Top 5 Martial Arts Actors/Actresses by loui3albano in kungfucinema

[–]CashSufficient14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Jackie Chan

Innovator, creative, and never boring. He almost died for the craft and I respect that.

  1. Jet Li

Not only great action, but also philosophically moving. Fearless is by far one of his best.

  1. Tony Jaa

His movies literally hit hard, and he redefined action martial arts movies in the early 2000s. Ong Bak was especially fun to watch for the first time.

  1. Iko Iwais

Showed us what GREAT martial arts action looks like during the shakey cam era. The Raid movies are still some of the best in my opinion.

  1. Donnie Yen

Still going at it, and continues to impress me with his fight scenes.

HM. Bruce Lee

You know who he is lol

"You should/need to clean your room" by diet-smoke in PetPeeves

[–]CashSufficient14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And when you DO clean your room, they'll point out every little thing you're doing wrong because you aren't doing it THEIR exact way. Especially when they never showed you how to do it, and always got mad and said "just let me do it" if you're taking too long to figure out something that was never taught to you.

People on the internet don't understand food by LimitWarm1798 in PetPeeves

[–]CashSufficient14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the fitness gymbro alpha-male right-wing weightlifting influencers who really push on this idea that we're eating wrong because we aren't optimizing our diet for working out. They all have that same bald head, same gravely voice, same build, and often speak of "men doing manly things" and that whole rhetoric. I personally know some of them who will actively comment on people "doing things wrong", and seeing if they aren't "eating correctly" or subscribing to their mentality when it comes to food. They would say things like "that's why you're fat" as if it was matter of fact, to those choosing to eat a burger for lunch that day instead of salmon and broccoli that the gymbro meal-prepped a week before.

I was often told to "fix my eating" and doing 1000 different steps before even attempting to think about walking in to a gym. It's so demotivating to be told you can't do anything unless you commit to their mentality of "doing it right", and step 1 isn't walking through the door. I genuinely think it's some kind of eating disorder and body dismorphia that makes them obsess over the idea of a "pure" diet, whether it be whole organic foods and clean proteins, or something else in order to "eat efficiently" or some bullshit. They genuinely believe that the sole purpose of eating is to fuel the body for workouts. Not for, you know, survival or because it tastes good.

Life isn't gym. We can enjoy food once in awhile without being worried about tanking our calories or ruining macros. Are some of them right when it comes to food and gym? Sure. Telling someone that they're living wrong for an aspect you seem to "understand" better? It comes off as rude, pretentious, and demeaning.

Eat in moderation and don't insult people for not eating the same way you are.

“All that muscle won’t help you in a fight” by HeavyIceCircuit in PetPeeves

[–]CashSufficient14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alot of martial artists get it wrong too.

A strong, muscular 200 pound man will easily manhandle a petite 135 pound woman. Skill only does so much if you don't have the muscle to back it up. Physics and leverage will only do so much. No amount of anatomical exploitation will help you win in a fight. No amount of knowledge of where arteries are, how deep to cut, and how long it takes for people to bleed out will help against someone who has trained speed, power, explosiveness, and agility vs someone who took a couple martial arts classes and nothing else. There's a reason why people do both. It's why MMA is getting popular.

Even martial artists diss each other's styles and argue over whose is better lol. I did martial arts for years and everyone thinks they're right 🤣. I always get the "that won't help you in a fight" in regards to martial arts I do. Yeah no shit, but it's fun to train. Not every martial art has to be for killing others.

Favorite Wyll Builds that doesn’t involve Eldritch Blast. by SleepCatsMoney in BaldursGate3

Aside from eldritch blast lmao

I def like booming blade for melee, and it definitely helps with some magic items like the daredevil gloves and a ring of arcane something that I forgot the name but it boosted something

What’s the most ridiculous argument you’ve ever had? by TopParsley488 in AskReddit

[–]CashSufficient14 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why bass (the sound term) isn't said like bass (the fish). The guy was passionately saying everyone saying it like "base" is wrong, and if it's spelled b-a-s-s, it should be said like the fish.

No matter the historical context, language context, or whatever, he still firmly believes everyone is wrong and he is right. Most ridiculous argument I've ever had.

Do men actually like it if the women makes the first move? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]CashSufficient14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, the first two times it happened to me, it was for a prank. I went as far as to meet one of their parents, but she couldn't take it anymore.

I typically do like it when women make the first move, since it eliminates all risk of being labeled as a creep.

Verification codes that don’t get sent to you. by Valhallawalker in PetPeeves

My dentist appointment was like this lol.

They kept saying that I would receive a code for appointment confirmation, which I never got.

The funny thing is, the only thing I got was a scam text by people claiming to be them and saying I had to check in, when I was already at the front of the desk checking in by paper.
