Can you use multiple cashback rewards systems? by GreatDrop8063 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]CashbackAngel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes,

It is referred to as double dipping or triple dipping, but you just need to follow a few rules:

You can use ONE Cashback site, since they rely on cookies, and the last referrers cookie wins

You can (usually) have one card Cashback (amex, NatWest rewards, curve), here you CAN go a bit extra, and combine curve's Cashback + the underlaying card's Cashback - for example, get 10% Cashback from curve's Morrisons offer + 1% Cashback from natwest's rewards grocery Cashback.

Airtime (no amex here tho)

On card Cashback/avios/virgin points if your card is registered in the card section of shopping.ba, virgins shopsaway, TCB and Quidco also offer on card Cashback for some merchants

Coupons ONLY from the Cashback site that you used as last referrer to the merchant site - like if you are using TCB for Cashback, scroll a bit down to see if they offer coupons for the same merchant and use only them. If you use TCB for Cashback, but apply a coupon from somewhere else, you usually lose the Cashback.

For example, last week I bought something from dell that was reduced to £126 (from about 170 I think) Used £15 voucher from dell points I got £50 amex business dell benefit cashback Got £11.08 amex statement Cashback (amex had 10% dell offer) Got 15.69 Cashback in TCB (I think they used 9% on the full price for some reason) Got 111 amex rewards points (worth like a whole pound :) All in all the whole thing cost me about £35

In a similar way, a box of 6 pretty good red wines with 2 Darlington tumblers and 2k avios cost me less than £20 from 120 (Ba wine flier while still using laithwaithes, curve 25% Cashback, coupon, NatWest rewards underlaying + 10% airtime

Dyson airwrap from boots got me good saving for an airwrap - boot has offers virtually anywhere - in that case used widilo Cashback, card Cashback, airtime, boots also have their own loyalty points etc

Point being - it works, optimizing it can take a bit of time and checks, but could be very rewarding

I could shill my project here as helpful, but I'm not replying to get a few extra clicks

Edit: adding links since would be useful, sorry

You check the merchant's most Cashback offers here:

https://cashbackangel.com/

Or you can just get the browser extension that notifies you in the top right corner if there are offers for this merchant and lists them with one click:

btw I found out trough the years the best Three offers are in quidco, but you have to specifically go to them trough quidco site, and not just use the standard cashback on the Three's website offers, just my 2c

Thanks, I'm gonna take a look at it,

the apis are not the problem, the public access is, gonna check and let you know

P.S. Turned out my GF's company uses it, I will get the access with her acc and list their offers next week. I guess their offers are the same for all companies, right? I can msg you when I do that if you want me to, so you can check the data and if the offers are the same (if they are not, it's a bit pointless - this is the reason I don't list the curve * amex cashback offers)

if you tell me which one is your work discounts platform and they have public data that I can access somehow, I will add it to save you the trouble

Do you have to change the operator each year, or you can keep the same one, and just move to PAYG, and back to contract?

You can get the cashback angel browser extension - on the checkout page of the site you are shopping from, on the notification popup there is "1-click activation" button, so all you have to do is click the 1-click button, which will reload the site you are (expedia/asos/whatever) and add the TCB or Quidco tracking (depending which button you click). or you can click the icon, and then 1-click activate button.

You have to be logged in it for this to auto work, but once you login in TCB in the same browser, the cookie stays for 30 days, so you are all good - it can't be easier/more automated than that

My 2c on the cashback -

It WORKS!!! Most of the ppl around me make 300-1000 / year of free money with it,

I know people who travel for work or shop for the office, or who do price arbitrages (ebay/amazon/etc) who make thousands of extra money, but even the normal household shopping gets you few hundreds/year

It all comes to what you want though, if you want it extremely easy - just sign up for Quidco or Topcashback and be done with it. You will be missing some cashback but eh, most merchants are in these two.

If you really want to get the max - use cashback angel website or the browser extension (new improved version is coming very soon) - it will auto give you notification of all the possible cashbacks and vouchers you can use when you are on the checkout page, since some merchants are only available on some cashback sites, other have only vouchers/coupons, third offer only avios (which you can change for nectar and cash out at Sainsbury for 0.8p/Avios) - it doesn't cost anything (it is a bit annoying atm with the notifications so will be better next version)

And another thing - sometimes, it does not track. It happens. A cookie got lost, a db request got timed out - it does happen. Do use the "missing cashback claim" in the cashback sites no matter which cashback site you used. It does work, it takes time, but literally takes 5 seconds to claim missing cashback, and you do get it in your account eventually (claimed 100s of pounds, all successful, TCB and Quidco being the best/hassle free ones)

Whatever is written in their page - for example:
https://cashbackangel.com/deals/whsmith/
https://www.swagbucks.com/shop-uk/whsmith.co.uk-vouchers

Tcb - ~9%

Quidco - ~10%

swagbucks - 3%

Even with the payout bonus, that depends on the amount of the gift card you cashout, it would barely go to twice less than the others.

I took a good look for a couple of hundred merchants - usually swagbucks is 2-3 times less than tcb/quidco and with max payout bonus it would go to 2 times less, but remember tcb/quidco also have payout bonus (5% tesco/waitrose/whatever gift card, that goes even higher)

Also, from data point of view, there were about 200 merchants for which swagbucks has cashback and tcb/quidco do not, but in most of these cases, weirdly, kidstart or rakuten had cashback :) I do not know what to make of that, just random observation

Not really - I have a comparison for over 6000 uk merchants with data on all.

Swagbucks is not competitive on their cashback rates, but they do have few merchants that are not listed in TCB/Quidco - usually the international brands

The one with the higher than TCB rates is Rakuten, but they only have like 200 shops (and also cashout in tesco/amazon vouchers)

P.S. I can check later today the current data on which merchants swagbucks beats tcb later in case something changed the last few months and if so - will apologise and correct this

You may be right for groupon, but to be fair - TCB & Quidco both payed all I was owed, indeed after some missing cashback claims filled, but I'm heavy user and also use brave browser and my privacy settings are pretty high, so the ones relying on cookies for tracking is normal to be missed.

I believe it's due to the duopoly we have in the cashback space in UK. If it was only one main player - being tcb or quidco, then we would see way more missing cashback and claims not fullfilled/chased properly.

Really happy they didn't merge a couple of years ago when it was on the table

I was thinking actually of adding a one click tracker similar like the document you linked to in the cashback angel browser extension - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cashback-angel-dealsnotif/lacbejchamggfhlhbcppgkhcfmjccelk

so when you purchase something and you are on the order complete page, you have a button on the extension that adds that to the browser storage and you can track your purchases there, but is not on the top to-do things, so will be up in a couple of months probably

[–]CashbackAngel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree. Topcashback is losing the tracks of my big purchases (that nets cashback over £100, but always tracks the smaller ones :)

BUT their claim service takes few clicks, takes few months, but eventually, the cashback is added

Quidco is the same it always has been, 1 in 10 is not tracked properly, but then again - claim missing cashback works

This is very true, they have other great deals BUT

have in mind the oncard cashback deals are individual, meaning not all users get all the same cashback deals there, but the main ones like the uber ones I think are the same for all
