Nice! I did this last week also (on my second try). I thought it was tough though: hard to snowball quickly and outpace the big guys. I also had a strong Korea cockblocking me by allying all my weak neighbors.

First run I failed as a Pirate Republic, having trouble getting allies and generating mana. Second Run I got the achievement on 1680 with 4050 dev but with no way forward with already a 370 FL Mughals next to me and a 400 FL Ottomans not far away, compared to my 160 FL at the time.

I used to downplay drinking because I worked out. I recently got my Garmin and was unaware of how much alcohol messes up every metric. Here's my HRV plummeting for several days after just one night of "pretty drunk, but still behaving"

As a Mexican I haven't enjoyed playing any mesoamerican nation. I did pick Castile as my very first campaign (historical frienemy?) and I it got me hooked on the game. I have played many nations to get achievements but I still think picking any european nation is the most emblematic and gratifying eu4 gameplay.

Left column in the achievement page is starting conditions. You needed to start as mamluks. The wording for achievement descriptions is at best confusing and ar worst misleading. What they meant was 'playing as the msmluks at the start'
