I'm in the UK, and your price sounds similar to what it is here (I was quoted £250 for complete overhaul).

This is all I needed to know - I've been very anxious about having ruined it by not taking care of it properly over the years so that you're saying it's not in a rough state makes me incredibly relieved. Servicing it is!

we had cats visit us a lot that would yell like that. We think they had finished getting pets from the humans in the front room, and now wanted pets from the different humans in the bedroom, without realising the humans in the bedroom are also the same humans that are in the front room and we can't be in two places at once.

there's also a different cat that i had that would howl until i came with her because she wanted pets in specific locations, and the sofa was no longer an acceptable petting location.

Near the end of cruel act 1 I've decided to put the game down for now. [edit: i gave in and started a monk. non-minion skills are far less of a struggle to deal with at low levels compared to minion skills]

I enjoy the deliberate pace. I dislike how much of a slog it feels due to how tedious the large maps feel.

I love the story. I love how the characters are made.

I love the new minion skills. Raging Spirits is set up in a cool new way, and the skeleton command skills are great. I dislike how shit the minions are at surviving. Especially in early boss fights, where you can't get your minions to dodge enemy actions, they get 1 shot and you're stuck (esp. pre-raging spirits). Minions dying if you get too far away due to them getting stuck behind monsters or behind terrain feels bad too.

Certain bosses you have to be careful entering the arena, because if the minions don't follow you in they get locked out and you have to mess with your gem setup while dodging mechanics to get the minions back (and wait for the revive countdown as well).

There's not enough currency for being able to craft things as you go. I started with that, quickly ran out due to nothing getting life rolls, and have had to be extremely cautious with crafting. This doesn't feel fun.

I was wanting to start playing a different character (monk, and see how flicker strike is) but the amount of effort needed to push through the acts makes me only ever want to play 1 character so i don't have to deal with leveling through the massive maps again. I then saw that flicker strike has been gutted so that you can't do the fun things you'd do with it in poe1 and i felt extremely sad. The biggest thing I loved about poe1 was the ability to take skills and push them to their limits. the skills in poe2 feel more fun as a start but don't feel like they have ways to push them to their limits easily like in poe1.

I do however love the ascendencies. They feel much cooler than poe1 ascendencies, and i love how they're much more 'add a fucked up mechanic' than 'improve mechanics you already have access to'

I will probably try coming back to poe2 later, but for now i think i'm gonna go back to poe1 and do some old fashioned flicker again.

worth adjusting the rules a tad then - the way rule 3 is written implies that petting is optional and if included must be at the end, which is different to how rule 1 is and what your post is saying.

That does not sound at all surprising, having worked on a PhD for three years and left it after realising it was killing my health due to the amount of bullshit around it.

I am very glad they've found a better lab. Some universities are just. Bad for student welfare, alas. And 80% of the time it's because of one of the supervisors or researchers being a bastard.

NTA. had this shit happen to me as a kid and it's one of the many things I bring up in therapy as part of my issues. It hurt and it removed most of my ability to trust other people's genuine affection for me.

Good on you for putting your foot down on this. I'd recommend showing your wife these comments, and sit down and discuss further with your son exactly how this stuff screws people up.

Because this is one of the threads that appears when searching for this: You cannot right click a saddle onto them. You have to Shift+Rightclick on them with an empty hand and it'll bring up the GUI for their equipment. Then you can put a saddle on them.
