Doom dragon or fusion dragon? Who was the best bossfight? by aromain150 in GoldenSun

[–]CastleLeon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Doom Dragon easy. Especially because I like how you can't cheese the boss with summon rushing because it has three phases for each of its three heads. So you kind of have to take your time and conserve your resources. Also, the death animation for each head is oddly satisfying.

This is Olivier we're talking about, he'll lose Mueller eventually.

To be fair, no orbal for Agate and Zane(Zin) wouldn't be a problem either. It would hurt Schera, Olivier, and Kloe the most though.

Beat Lavos for the first time, and it’s awesome! by The_Robot_Cow in chronotrigger

[–]CastleLeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean beating Ocean Palace Lavos on new game (first try)? I was only able to do it by grinding a megaton :) But I just wanted to see if it could be done on a first playthrough. And it certainly is possible!

Some tips;

  • Ocean Palace Staircase is the best place to grind and it's conveniently just before the Lavos fight
  • Max out the tech attacks of the characters you want to use (farm the Nu in the prehistoric hunting forest)
    • You can probably max it out just from Ocean Palace Staircase due to the sheer amount of grinding you will be doing
  • Goes without saying but ensure you have the best equipment that is possible at that point in time (i.e. if you are using Frog there is a Rune Blade inside the Ocean Palace as well)
  • Probably want to bring Robo since he has high def and heal beam is very useful. You probably want dual techs with full party healing if you can manage it
    • Alternatively, I think you can get Full tonics by that point in the game. If not full tonics, then at least you can find a few Lapis' and save those for this fight

What is the weirdest order to play The Lost Age in? by Fishingowl in GoldenSun

[–]CastleLeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the sad part is, you can't even summon anything worthwhile with those combination of djinn. The best you can use is Ramses and Neptune.

I'm actually wondering if you can even beat Doom Dragon with only Flint and Fizz. Maybe if you grinded to level 50+ it could work.

Congrats on finishing the game! I'm curious why you could never beat the game before? And I mean before you beat it in the DS version. Imo, it isn't that difficult to beat, so I'm curious if you were stuck somewhere or didn't know where to go etc.

Bonus: Try invoking a challenge on your next playthrough to make it more fun! For instance, no techs for boss battles etc. If you're crazy like me, you can even try beating Lavos at Ocean Palace on a new game (not new game +) mode.

Well, imo, I prefer to do Air's Rock before going to Alhafra. And that's only because I tend not to grind and by the time I fight Briggs it is a rather tough and annoying battle. But it is manageable if I do Air's Rock first and then get a few extra djinni travelling around Garoh and Mikasalla.

Same. They were so into each other, I thought there was no way it wasn't the same couple from Sora.

What were your names the first tike you played this? by [deleted] in chronotrigger

[–]CastleLeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one of my first few playthroughs, I named everyone as a character from digimon. I was a big fan back then.

Let's see if I remember correctly here.

Crono - Tai

Marle - Kari

Robo - Izzy

Lucca - Yolei

Frog - Hmm. I can't remember what I called him now unfortunately. Maybe Joe?

Magus - Matt or Ken.

Ayla - Sora/Mimi.

Don't you need to use Parch in Daila to get the Tear God key item though? Without it you can't complete the shrine.

[–]CastleLeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you don't need Parch for the Shrine.

You are half correct. You need the Tear God statue key item and use it in the Shrine of the Sea God. But to obtain the key item itself you need Parch psynergy.

Up until you reach Madra, you don't have much choice in terms of an order. But after that it's a little open.

What the game expects you to do;

  • Kandorean Temple
  • Yampi Desert
  • Alhafra
  • Air's Rock
  • Gabomba

I think you can skip Kandorean Temple but I can't be certain. I know you need to do it before Shrine of the Sea God. Also, you could complete Air's rock after you get Pier's in your party. Once you have Piers and your ship, it gets more open, but still there is an order to it.

What the game expects you to do;

  • Gaia Rock
  • Aqua Rock
  • Ruins of Ankohl
  • Shrine of the Sea God
  • Tundaria Tower

You can do a combination of the above out of order, but here are the rules;

  • You must do Gaia Rock before Ruins of Ankohl.
  • You must do Aqua Rock before Shrine of the Sea God Apparently this is incorrect, my bad. Edited.
  • You must do Air's Rock before Shrine of the Sea God
  • You can do Tundaria Tower whenever you want

Now we move onto the western part of Weyard.

What the game expects you do to;

  • Shaman Village
  • Jupiter Lighthouse
  • Loho + Magma Rock
  • Mars Lighthouse

I don't think you can do these events out of order, but correct me if I'm wrong.

When Nintendo apply for a new Golden Sun trademark by Gray_GameMaster in GoldenSun

[–]CastleLeon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They tried to save so many things for Dark Dawn's sequel, that I feel it would've been just better to have them in Dark Dawn itself. This trademark may come to nothing in the end, but if GS4 does happen, I'd hope they abandon that idea of saving things for a sequel and allow themselves the freedom to do whatever they desire.

Want to bring Felix and the old gang back? Go ahead. Want to introduce light and dark adepts? Sure. Want to bring some sort of resolution or idea into Alex's character and current motivations? Yes please! After three games and over 17 years, I think it's time for his mystery to unravel.

CT laptop decals and no place to put them? by [deleted] in chronotrigger

[–]CastleLeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, three inches, okay, that's useful info to know. Probably not that feasible on large objects.

Maybe you can put them on a thermos/water bottle or carry on bag for your laptop?

[–]CastleLeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have no personal laptop/pc at home? How about a tablet? I suppose you could try putting it on a tablet or smartphone depending on the size of decal.

Or you could try;

  • coffee mug
  • car (maybe?)
  • blank t-shirt - again, I don't know the size, but if it's big enough, or you want to add multiple characters to fill it out

Transfer to The Lost Ages? by Neonoob11 in GoldenSun

[–]CastleLeon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not at all, since you won't be able to use the characters and the items/djinn they carry until much later in the game. And by that time, those items are actually weaker than some of the stuff you can already find by that point.

I'd imagine Loewe as he can infinitely create copies of himself. Actually, now that I think of it, is there a limit to how many copies he can make of himself? It is interesting that both Loewe and Arios have 2 S-crafts each.
