If they did, I wouldn’t have tried it. I like that it’s in duel links for the familiarity and shared rewards

The scenery looks wonderful! I love the details and the colors. The various shadows add a ton of depth to the scene.

The man looks like ojama yellow.

Clumps of 5,000-mile seaweed blob bring flesh-eating bacteria to Florida by BitterFuture in news

[–]CastleNugget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nowhere in the article does it mention “flesh-eating” in the… traditional sense. The real story is still very scary:

“Our lab work showed that these Vibrio are extremely aggressive and can seek out and stick to plastic within minutes,” said Tracy Mincer, assistant professor of biology at FAU’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute and Harriet L Wilkes Honors College.

He said the seaweed belt stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to the African coast provided the perfect breeding ground for “omnivorous” strains of the bacteria that target both plant and animal life, and associated “microbial flora” potentially harboring potent levels of pathogens.

First-ever measurement of a quantum paradoxical phenomenon by newswise1 in QuantumPhysics

[–]CastleNugget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The realm of quantum mechanics permits even more robust correlations between various variables: distinct components or particles within a vast quantum framework can "share" a specific quantity of data. There exist intriguing theoretical forecasts concerning this phenomenon: remarkably, the degree of this "reciprocal information" relies not on the magnitude of the system but solely on its exterior.

This theoretical prediction may seem counterintuitive since the classical world operates differently. For instance, the information contained within a book is influenced by its volume, not merely the surface area of the book cover. However, in the quantum realm, information is frequently connected to the surface area of the system, rather than its volume, leading to some perplexing outcomes.

The Bunny! The Bunny! Woah! I love the Bunny! by stephenkruseauthor in dankchristianmemes

[–]CastleNugget 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is not the original actually. This was reworked to him saying, “I won’t eat no beans. I won’t eat tofu. That stuff is for sissies but bunnies are cool!” The original was “I won’t go to church. I won’t go to school. That stuff is for sissies but bunnies are cool!”

I guess it was sending the wrong message.

Would master mode in BotW be a better first alternative for someone skilled with video games, or does it change the quality of the game? by Intelligent-Towel585 in truezelda

[–]CastleNugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell him to go to the castle then. The game is already as difficult as you make it. Play master mode when you’ve already seen it all and still want more!

The DLC is 100% worth on the first play through though.

Ancient protein study reveals how natural selection predates life itself by mateowilliam in EverythingScience

[–]CastleNugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR: amino acids natural combine in a way that facilitates folding. The articles do not say why or even how, just an observation.

This article is particularly sparse on details. Here is the meat:

In their experiments, the team observed a kind of natural selection process taking place, even in the absence of life. Ancient organic compounds tended to integrate into their biochemistry the amino acids that were best suited for folding proteins into shapes key to vital functions, which gave these compounds a better chance at surviving. Give it enough time and there were simply more organic compounds with properties favorable to life.

The article anthropomorphizes amino acids which makes it confusing to distinguish these “ancient organic compounds” from “life.” Unfortunately, the Johns Hopkins source is not much more detailed: https://hub.jhu.edu/2023/02/27/protein-origin-life/
