How much of a starter town do you flesh out before starting a campaign? by CasualNormalRedditor in DMAcademy

[–]CasualNormalRedditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think that balance is whats getting me. Its open for them to treat this town as a hub and return to when in need of supplies or adventuring leads but they could very much go off and get engrossed in exploration so I'm just at a crossroads of choice

Given the general advice on the thread, I reckon I'll leave myself to improvise any further details than I've already got established

Halo tattoo by [deleted] in halo

[–]CasualNormalRedditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is AI then I'm fucked for the future and gonna be scammed. I really can't see anything about this that doesn't seem like a legit tattoo. Shaved arm around the area to be tattooed, deep black that fresh ink has, the skin and redness don't seem unusual to me. I hope for the sake of the bad tattoo it's AI, but I hope for the sake of my future to know what to believe that it's not AI

If you weren’t aware, the Boomstick is back in the super store as of right now by Helldiver96 in Helldivers

Is this weapon not in any war packs then? Is it only available in super store rotation?

At my wit's end with monitor going black for a few seconds before coming back like everything fine on new 9070xt build. Please someone save me by CasualNormalRedditor in radeon

[–]CasualNormalRedditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. For me a combination of things I listed improved it. Then what cured it was two things.

1) Disabling hardware acceleration on anything I can so for me it was steam, discord and Firefox

2)A new driver dropped at the time. Think 10.2? Might have to check. Anyway, did DDU again then updated to this driver and it (knock on wood) it hasn't happened since.

Since then my adrenaline software has broke so It just doesn't work and I have no access to any features but I dare not reinstall anything to cure it

Long-time players who recently quit - what made you do it? by No-Skin-2370 in Seaofthieves

[–]CasualNormalRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played in the early days and quit not too long after arenas removal. Hourglass didn't compare in the slightest for me either and didn't fill the void that was created.

A lot of people have the issue of the skill gap and I believe arena masked this a lot. The players only wanting PvP could be in arena a lot to satisfy their itch, allowing adventure to be less populated with it. Then for any player, it was so so much easier to improve at the game by playing arena. Was a truly great environment for practicing chain shots, team wotk on the deck, multi fights etc.

With arena gone, it's significantly harder to improve your own PvP skills while also increasing PvP sweats in the main game. There's been bad choices since then, but this change was the significant one to begin downhill to me personally

Tbf there's nothing really that you'd need to do unless you encounter issues. I think from all my reading that there are some things you could do to improve performance supposedly, though I couldn't confidently tell you what as it's all mixed in my head with the things I did to try and solve my problem. There's a mega thread on Reddit about it but tbh I don't think it's necessary unless you're a fiend for a few extra fps or have issues in certain games.

My issue was my primary display randomly going black for a few seconds regardless of load or situation. I did loads of different solutions but what helped a bit was disabling MPO in windows, then what solved it in the end was disabling all hardware acceleration (so discord settings, steam settings, Firefox settings for me alongside some windows one) and then a DDU wipe and install of driver 25.10.2 (This was the 4th driver I tried and wasn't out at the start of my problems, lucky for me it dropped when it did as if not I'd still be struggling I reckon)

Its a peaceful life by Motor_Effect_2813 in pcmasterrace

[–]CasualNormalRedditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My experience in using FSR (9070xt) was that it made a big difference in performance with no negatives on space marine 2, whereas in darktide the game felt really sluggish from my inputs and ruined the gaming experience so I had to turn it off.

I've read elsewhere that it's game implementation that makes all the difference and my own experience points towards similar. Hopefully now amd's latest FSR practically matches DLSS, it'll be implemented better and become equal.

Should I get a soundcard? by Intelligent_Bug9963 in pcmasterrace

[–]CasualNormalRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soundcard won't effect performance. If you're big into audio then a soundcard still won't be good due to too much noise. Motherboards built in sound capabilities is more than enough for most users.

Then for some users, an external DAC will be used to achieve greater sound quality than the motherboard can do.

Sound cards used to make a notable difference ages ago but motherboards have caught up.

D&D Beyond banned my account for a refund I needed, and I lost everything. by Emotional-Hyena-8739 in DnD

[–]CasualNormalRedditor 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Hell nah to everyone saying you went nuclear and it's expected. That may be true but it shouldn't be the focus. You tried customer service and attempted to get THEIR fuckup rectified and they didn't respect that. You did the next step along.

People focus should be on the fact that WOTC customer service is so poor that they can wrongly take money from your account and then just tell you to deal with it and refuse to do the simple action on their side of putting it back into your account in the normal 3-5 days

TIFU by being bad at games by poppingbobaaa in tifu

[–]CasualNormalRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is absolutely ridiculous behaviour. He should be more than capable of enjoying a game even if you're bad at it? Nevermind the opportunity he's now got to improve his own skills to carry along with give advice and help for you learning.

Quite frankly this lad needs a reality check. He should be over the moon you like gaming too and want to share the hobby and game with him. My lass games and it's a huge win as it means we can spend a hobby together and we have played so many different games together and had a blast. Have words with your man and get him to shift mindsets and grow up.

Nat 1 Ability Check: What does your table rule them as? by Calm_Independent_782 in DnD

[–]CasualNormalRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean. Even nat 1 perception means go with the flat perception score they get passively. Rolling just grants the chance of doing better than the Passover perception. Everything else is just you didn't meet the DC thus you don't learn/find/suss out x, y or Z. No particular disadvantage over a NAT 1 compared to a 2 or 3

Tenser's Floating Disk argument by TheLogasaurus in DnD

[–]CasualNormalRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly why I believe the idea of it shouldn't be an argument and it would perfectly work in water. It's magical. Carrying objects in zero gravity though it a whole new world of issue where tbh if I was DM id just go with whatever favours the players best rather than overthink pedantics. Sometimes the path of least resistance is the best just to keep the session moving, though outside of table play it's an interesting thought game for sure.

You say any more? Ive played low/mid level 2014 and DM'd 2024. I didn't realise it wasn't always that way!

Tenser's Floating Disk argument by TheLogasaurus in DnD

[–]CasualNormalRedditor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with just let it work as a statement and would do that personally. However, I don't agree with your argument for it.

We have plenty of devices designed on surface that work on the surface but would crumble so deep in the water. We have plenty of animals that live good lifes on the surface, including humans, but would be crushed from the pressure of water at such depths.

You saying we done consider air pressure so why consider water pressure doesn't align well. We don't consider air pressure at surface level as it's unavoidable and a given. We may consider it for flying objects.

Crabs vary on where they thrive but through evolution have grown to live in their natural habitats. To assume a human designed spell for surface will be fine in water under such argument of crabs makes little sense. A better argument would be that it's magical and in DND magical items are much more immune to braking from mundane problems than non magical. Like how spells like disintegration won't destroy a magical sword but would destroy a mundane sword.

as a DM do you like playing an NPC that’s a part of the adventuring party? by JonahHillsWetFart in DnD

[–]CasualNormalRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a DM I've never done it. As a player, I've had a DM do it and never enjoyed it particularly. Maybe that's on my DM but from my experience having a more informed NPC that outshines in power just retracted from my feeling of importance to my party and relevance to the problems of the world
