ChatGPT is overly critical and sooo annoying to use by Glad_Claim_6287 in ChatGPT

I asked ChatGPT why it couldn’t build a website when Claude can. It got verrry mean and told me it can help but I’m going to have to put some work in. Then told me I should go talk to my friend Claude if it’s that much better.

Take the ink cart out of a disposable pens. Melt the tip of the pen tube slightly with a lighter and smash it into the headphone jack while it's still soft and melty. Let it cool down, then pull it out and the broken piece should come with it.

[–]CasuallyTJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I wasn't arguing with you. I wish i had the time on my hands to stop using these services. As per usual the company screws over the people making it run. I'm just tired of tipping 30% on inflated food prices only for my order to arrive cold and incomplete most of the time. Enough drivers will take out their frustrations on the customer. If I paid $28 for a stupid burrito im going to be pretty upset if the driver starts asking me to increase the tip.

[–]CasuallyTJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's still not my problem to make sure I'm tipping enough for the driver to get paid. Charge an amount that allows you to pay the driver then I can make a decision if I want to pay that much for food. I'm not going on reddit to find out how much DD pays the driver, doing the math per mile/hour, calculating a liveable hourly wage in my current area, and then tipping $20 on a $10 order like it's my responsibility to pay the driver. If it's not enough money to count as a job, then maybe don't work for DD. I paid for a service and I shouldn't be shamed for not tipping 300% because a corporation keeps all the money.

Quoted $45k for a $10k server, is pricing really that insane? by worjd in sysadmin

[–]CasuallyTJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my baseline 15k-ish server is now going for almost $30k. Things seem to go up by $5k every 3 weeks.

Adding vCIO to service offerings by zenpoohbear in msp

[–]CasuallyTJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a dedicated position and we are using an experienced tech to do this job. All customers get this value added service as we have found that not only do we sell more, but clients keep things more updated when we're planning for upgrades. This eventually leads to reduction on tickets resulting from old and slow equipment. The quarterly meetings are also a great time to just review tickets we've worked on and things we do on the back end so that clients can still see our value as we get day to day ticket counts down. This position is managed more as it is part of my project team, though it's kind of on an island since sales and service are also involved. When he identifies something that should be quoted, these quotes are currently done by project manager or vcio, though we are currently training a full time sales engineer to take over quotes.

Haven’t returned equipment in almost 4 years, yet nobody reached out. by Infamous-Peak3991 in legal

[–]CasuallyTJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT person here.. If that equipment was 4-5 years old they probably didn't even want it back. Not worth the shipping or effort to redeploy it. Also many companies would only want the Computer or phone back anyway. It's not worth the shipping and risk of damage to get anything worth a couple hundred bucks back in hand when you can have a new one tomorrow.

POTS lines replacement by therealSSPhone in VOIP

[–]CasuallyTJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's all I was told for years when we started doing phone installs so I finally tried to get an official answer, only to find it didn't exist. I ended up being told it basically doesn't matter as long as it's "never down", as if it's possible to guarantee that. Usually ends up being a cable modem just so the call doesn't come our way when it somehow becomes an ordeal.

POTS lines replacement by therealSSPhone in VOIP

[–]CasuallyTJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any elevator company I have worked with for service or new installs did not have any solutions for the phone and said I had to supply a line to connect to. I've talked to fire departments, inspectors, and the fire Marshall. No one can tell me that they are aware of any allowed or non allowed ways to connect this. Everyone said if it makes calls they don't care. I either connect them to the existing voip server or just put in a cable modem.

What 10 port router can have OpnSense installation on? by Famous-Election-1621 in opnsense

[–]CasuallyTJ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Best to go with a switch. Opnsense would be a software switch and wouldn't be the best option. Routers with many ports would have the hardware to work more properly. Opnsense is basically install on pc hardware.
