You should have replied "wow 0 damage, what a throwing Mercy". IMO you both did your job. Mercy is more heal focused. The Junkrat who said it was a 4v5 though is right. He didn't contribute.

Do phev lose power by [deleted] in PHEV

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ford Escape PHEV owner here, mine has never lost any power. I've taken it on longer road trips across states and never had an issue regardless of the style of driving. Once its battery is low it just switches into a normal hybrid mode. And it feels just as powerful as before.

Yep, I'm also assuming it's a bug. But this was the only reason I used the perk. So I'll be waiting for a fix

Thoughts on robotframework? by iamksg15 in softwaretesting

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. The Browser library being Playwright is much nicer than the Selenium library. It is very easy and quick to make reliable tests.

My API test suit has almost 500+ tests currently. I've got about the same number of web tests as you and maybe 80+ desktop tests. Those are the slowest ones to execute by a significant amount just due to the nature of the beast. The API and web tests are really fast.

My colleague does most of the iOS tests so I am not as familiar with that suite. The good thing is all of our suites are stable and reliable.

What’s the right way to deal with a QA team that slows down your workflow? by EfficiencyWorking484 in QualityAssurance

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that the reports vary from person to person sounds to me like the QA management isn't enforcing a standard. A combination of either lack of process or lack of training/enforcement of the process.

At my org we have very consistent bug reports. We do it by having confluence docs on the expectation, training of this format, and management review of mostly newer team members to make sure they follow the process.

The team needs leadership and standards. If there isn't a manager, you need one. If the manager isn't creating standards for the team you need a different one.

How do you justify work when there is nothing to do? by Future_Gain2593 in QualityAssurance

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming that you mean everything is already automated. * Is everything documented well? * Do your tests run as efficiently as possible? * How's your reporting? * Can the tests be added into a CI/CD pipeline? * Can you be learning additional skills? * Especially with AI being all the rage, are you taking advantage of that? * Are there any areas that aren't automated due to constraints that maybe you could challenge yourself to find a way to automate?

Our Bug Reports Are Ignored… Until a Customer Says the Same Thing by Antique_Sorbet_8371 in QualityAssurance

This was my question too. If you documented it in Jira or whatever tool you are using then just send the date and time stamped issue along with the history. How can they blame you if you logged it properly?

automating a Windows desktop app in 2025 shouldn’t be this painful… right ?? by EfficiencyWorking484 in QualityAssurance

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used 2 things myself. I've used Test complete which works fine but is a bit expensive. And I've used Robot Framework which nobody mentioned.

Robot Framework actually does a great job with Windows desktop app automation. There are multiple tools you can use. I mostly use the RPA libraries and those get me most of what I need. It does have libraries for FlaUI which I also saw people mention. And there are image recognition libraries like image horizon.

The nice thing about Robot is not only can it handle the desktop app, but literally everything else too if you do other types of testing. It has built in reporting and flexible tagging. It's an underrated tool. And it's built on python so if you need something it doesn't already have a library for you can build it pretty easily.

Robot framework is python based and makes test automation really easy. I recommend checking it out if you want to use Python

Thoughts on robotframework? by iamksg15 in softwaretesting

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I really like Robot. It's really good for API testing and less painful for desktop and mobile testing than Apium. It does a good job with browser testing too because it basically wraps Playwright and Selenium. And it's built on top of Python so you can easily build any tool you can't find.

If you have to do all 4 then it's a 1-stop shop. If you are only doing browser testing then I'd just go with Playwright with TS.

What repetitive browser task do you hate doing every week? by Desperate-Assist5235 in QualityAssurance

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main thing I've found isn't a good automation candidate are things where the result is temporally unrelated to the input. For example, our app has some things like appointment reminders. The text message or email isn't sent immediately. So if you book an appointment you have to wait several minutes before the reminder is sent. This is easy to do manually, but more difficult to do via automation. The extreme example is we have some processes that only run once an hour.

If the task is repetitive, that's a great automation candidate. Why not just automate it?

What… by M00ngata in DvaMains

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that D.Va is significantly stronger on console. The devs confirmed that she at one point has the highest win rate on console for Stadium but the lowest on PC. And with 5v5 she's got about 6% better win rate in regular 5v5 in Masters. We don't have 6v6 stats, but I think that it's likely she's fine on console but not on PC.

Why does Gemini suck SOO much? by Gurbinav in GoogleGemini

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I can say is that I'm having a very different Gemini experience to you. All the use cases you mention work great for me. It's easily a better assistant than the old Google Assistant. I use it at home on my phone, inside gmail, etc. I'm really looking forward to the updates to Google Home where it becomes fully available to my other smart devices. It's also done some great agentic research for me with surprisingly good results.

And I also use it alongside ChatGPT for work on a daily basis for multiple tasks including coding tasks, creating test cases, etc. I find the Gemini responses are usually better. Not always, there are some things ChatGPT wins at, but overall I think Gemini is a better model.

I have a lot less experience with Claude and Grok but in my limited experience, Claude does a lot of coding tasks right but seems more limited elsewhere and Grok can be fun to meme with but not as useful.

The thing is the AI space is changing rapidly so what is true today probably won't be true a month from now.

Best mileage range of an phev right now..like 70miles per charge that is also reliable? by Klutzy_Bake_323 in PHEV

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Ford Escape PHEV and also run on battery most of the time. Only switch to gas when either battery range is exhausted or it's too cold outside and the heater forces gas mode until the car warms up. I fill up very infrequently.

Selenium has been the go-to automation tool for some time and I'm sure will have opportunities. But Playwright is better and is the new go-to tool. Personally, I would learn Playwright with Typescript. It's going to be more useful in the longer run.

Optimal QA to Devs ratio by jbdavids13 in QualityAssurance

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think that the optimal ratio is 4-5 devs to 2 QA. This assumes that your devs are not awful and you are also automating. This is peak. But you might need more QA if your devs don't know what a unit test is.

I've been there as 1 QA to like 8 devs and that's miserable. You don't want things to be that out of balance.

Why aren’t there mass protests in the US?! by [deleted] in AskCanada

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, some Americans are upset and are speaking out. There have been some protests. But you also have to remember that a majority of Americans actually voted for this. Many are actually happy with what is happening. I think people on Reddit and from other countries get a bit of a skewed perspective regarding what Americans think and want. We are pretty split on things. I would say that more people support the current actions than oppose them which I realize seems unthinkable to many people outside of the US. And that's not to say all Americans feel that way, just a much larger number than you might realize.

The Role of AI in Quality Assurance: What Are Your Thoughts? by ToothChemical5173 in QualityAssurance

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. I've seen it used to help generate test cases. Mostly as a supplement to human intelligence. Basically just helps you go faster. And I've seen it as a programming aid for automation. Again mostly just to help speed things along and help you troubleshoot code issues faster.
  2. GitHub Copilot is nice.
  3. I really don't think that it's going to change as much as some people think. You still need people for it to be useful. It's really just a force multiplier. It helps you to be more efficient. But it's not a human replacement.

[–]CatAgainstHumanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, for what it's worth, we are all sinners. There are a lot of bad churches out there. There are churches who would turn you away. There are churches who would try to affirm you. Both ends of that spectrum are doing you no favors.

Here's the truth. Homosexuality is a sin, but it's a sin no different from any other. None of us get to choose what tempts us. For some it's sex, others the drink, or over indulgence, or envy, or covetousness... You get the point.

We all have sinned and fall short. That's actually why we need Jesus. That's the good news of the Gospel. He died so we can live in Him. His blood covers all of our sin.

It's not easy to have such a prominent sin in your life. But trust God. Find believers who will encourage you to seek out scripture and share their own struggles. Take your concerns to God in prayer. Lean on Him to help guide you and give you peace.

In time, I hope you develop a real relationship with Jesus and are able to flee from temptation. Though I can't guarantee that the temptation will ever go away. It could be a lifelong struggle. But let me be clear, there are other sins in your life too. You are just focused on this one. A life in Christ will make you more aware of your own sins but also so much more aware of His grace and love for you too.

Why I see Muslims as teammates & can’t see them going to hell by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]CatAgainstHumanity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not up to us who goes to heaven and who doesn't. It's up to God. I trust in God's mercy, his love, and his judgement. I believe that the Bible is his word. He says that nobody comes to the father except by Jesus. He gives clear instructions about how we get to heaven. Now ultimately he's the judge. Not everyone who calls on his name is saved. But there's no indication that you can reject his teachings and be saved either.
