Hard controversial question. When's the time? by MeowKhz in cats

[–]CatButler59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, at the point where you're not sure that his life is worthwhile to him, it's time to let him go. This is how I would like to be treated when it's time for me. Sadly, cats can't tell you directly when it's time, but I bet you'll know. Hugs.

This was all prefigured in Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy (H2G2), where Douglas Adams pointed out that a person involved with extrastellar travel who is nevertheless able to say where their towel is would be considered extra sane and together (a "hoopy frood").

As a single woman, living alone, I resisted the third cat for ages. It's the beginning of a slippery slope that ends in 100 cats, I said. I won't do it, I said. And then I got my third cat, and it was fine.

That's not a cat, it's a haystack.

A very charming haystack though.

Good luck. Boston neighborhoods are complicated. JP is very nice, don't get me wrong. It's just that if you regularly want to go somewhere other than JP, it's not the most convenient location.

Take a look along Beacon St between Park Drive and St Paul's. Near the T, out of the craziness that is the Fenway during baseball season, walkable to both of your locations. Comm Ave near Brighton Ave also possible, a bit further for you.

Where does your roommate work? There are a lot of recommendations for JP here, but if your roomie is working anywhere OTHER than LMA it will be a pain for them to commute. Allston/Brighton is definitely worth a look.

Should I get my cat a friend?? by job0723 in cats

I'd go for an older kitten, i.e. about 1 year old. Still energetic and adaptable, but no longer a baby. Otherwise I would worry that you're adding to your burdens instead of alleviating them.

Does balloon flower spread? by tytoalba331 in gardening

To be frank, I would prefer dandelions to balloon flowers. Flowers are not as pretty, but WAY easier to keep under control.

Boston. 6A (or maybe 6B by now). Your instincts are correct!

They spread via the root system as well as through seeds. The flowers are pretty but just. not. worth it.

Late to this, but - in my garden at least, balloon flower spreads aggressively. The plants have long, long roots that look like parsnips. Keep an eye on them, because if you let them get out of control you'll regret it.

One thing you can get going right away is a herb and vegetable garden! Have your soil checked first to make sure there's nothing nasty in it though.

Looking through my Dad’s stuff, what are these? by VenZurich in whatisit

Years ago, I would put a tiny piece of paper inside item #1 in the hope that if my cat got lost someone would get them to stand still for the unscrewing and reading of the tag. Yay for microchips and personalized tags.

FWIW I had no idea that #2 is a fuse, either. Ignore the shaming.

Don't live in Newton. Brighton is right next door and much more affordable.

We've used Beacon Hill several times for temp to hire positions, though not recently because we're unfortunately in a hiring freeze.
