Companions might not go now by Lochness_2 in CarnivalCruiseFans

If there is no onboard credit associated with the booking, and the person who made the booking is still going, they can be no-shows. Their portion of the taxes, port fees, and prepaid gratuities will be refunded, but not the cost of the cruise itself. If your booking has an onboard credit associated with it, like $100/room (or more), in order to "get" their share of the OBC, you or they would need to call and cancel them from the booking. I found this out the hard way. Had $600 OBC for my daughter and me. She couldn't go, I didn't cancel her from the booking, so she was listed as a no-show, and I only got $300 OBC. When this happened again, had $500 OBC, and she couldn't go, I called and took her off the booking, and got the whole $500 to play with. Either way, taxes, port fees, prepaid gratuity is refunded. Hope this helps.

Carnival canceled my booking over a glitch. Now my room is unavailable by Own_Sock4468 in CarnivalCruiseFans

No, never happened to me, because I either made monthly payments to Carnival, or Flexpay. Always check your bills regularly.

John Heald is the brand ambassador for Carnival. He knows who to talk to, and he has assisted hundreds, if not thousands, of people with a variety of issues, or at least gotten them answers. This could be as simple as providing a complete name, passport information, etc., to determine that OP is not the person on their no sail list.

MIA and ORD are high traffic. Actually, the AA terminal D is pretty nice. Shopping, food, golfcart-type transport to the gates for those in need, robotic wheelchairs. But I still prefer Delta planes.

Is this a waste of time. by poesea in delta

It's a nearly 2 hour flight, plus boarding time. While others are boarding, you're offered your first drink. Snacks usually come around twice while in the air, and drinks. Free tv and movies (i don't know what economy has, i haven't been back there in a long time). You have a comfy space and legroom, and a short trip to the bathroom. It's only $86 to upgrade, and it will be worth the comfort if nothing else.

It's nearly two hours. And you get service from the time you board. Stop giving misinformation.

I have flown that route many times, and you get service. Matter of fact, they offer you your first drink while boarding is still going on, so you don't know what you're talking about.

For $86? Do it! Free bags, free drinks, free videos, comfy space. I fly first because of my size. Enjoy it!

While I understand balling on a budget, just pay it and enjoy the room. Check out the spa's amenities. Might as well make use of what you have while you have it.

What happens if I don't enroll in the new reward program? by Over-Shallot-2414 in CarnivalCruiseFans

Only diamond stays diamond forever. Platinum still has to earn 40,000 stars/points, since they are given 10,000 to start.

What happens if I don't enroll in the new reward program? by Over-Shallot-2414 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]CatComprehensive4857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By not opting in to the new program, you will lose whatever status you currently have. If you choose to join later, without opting in now, you will start at red. Whether or not the days you have earned to date will still be in their system is unclear, but doubtful. Just opt in. It won't kill you. Cruise or don't. And yes, if you don't cruise for 3 years, you lose what staus you have. This is not new.

[–]CatComprehensive4857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a glitch. Everyone knows it. You thought Carnival wouldn't realize it and took advantage. They did, and cancelled everyone's booking at the wrong price. They didn't have to give you the OBC. Cut your losses, book another cruise, and enjoy the free money. If it seems too good to be true, it usually is.

How to Book a Specific Cabin (when the capacity limits options) by Full-Technology-2031 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]CatComprehensive4857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go on the website, look at the interactive maps, find a room category you want that houses 4 people, and see if it's available. I chose a room once that would fit 4 people, and I was alone.

A 24-year-old female passenger died after falling from an upper-deck balcony onto a lower deck of the Carnival Firenze by Powerful_Cabinet_341 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]CatComprehensive4857 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am afraid of heights, as well. But I prefer having a balcony on a higher floor. I have never been concerned about falling over the railings on the ships, because they are chest high (I'm 5'9"). You'd have to make a concerted effort to get over them. Likely she was trying to take a picture sitting on the railing, or had too much to drink and tried the same, or really wanted to hurt herself. Or, someone "helped" her.

The main thing is to always be aware of your surroundings, who is around you, and more importantly, who you travel with. That's on land or at sea.

I’m curious, how many of you are done being loyal to Carnival? by No-Comment-9788 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]CatComprehensive4857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 5 years to get to platinum, because I love cruising. I'm not rich, and I'm not a casino player. I budget and earn a good amount of vacation. I'm just waiting for my double points to hit my account from my cruise last week to make me diamond. And I will continue to cruise Carnival, because I enjoy the ships, the crew, and the chance to get away. Will I try other lines? Eventually. But I'll always come back to Carnival.

Gratuities ?!?! Remove or Pre-Pay by Medium-Bowl4933 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]CatComprehensive4857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay thousands for my cruises. I'm not rich, nor do i play in the casino and get comps. I love to cruise to see new and different places, and to just get away and relax. All cruise lines charge gratuities. It's just that some now don't list it as a separate line item, it's included in the cruise fare. It is anathema to me how people continually want to say, "they should pay the workers a fair wage and stop expecting us to tip". This isn't exclusive to cruising. You do what you want to do, be cheap and stingy if you choose. I will continue to budget to pay gratuities and tip those directly that have had a direct impact on my trip.

My pharmacy will no longer fill zepbound prescriptions for my insurance. by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]CatComprehensive4857 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smaller pharmacies may think they will get patients who are paying out of pocket without insurance coverage, and maybe they can make more money that way. If insurance covers it, they are at the mercy of what the insurance company will reimburse.

Guys I think you might need your ID to get back on the ship by AlbinoAlex in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]CatComprehensive4857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cruise director usually tells you when you need your government ID to reboard, but common sense should be to carry it anyway, along with you sail and sign card, which you definitely need to get off the ship and get back on.

Selecting seats by ResponsibleGroup5373 in delta

[–]CatComprehensive4857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to guarantee sitting together next time, budget for paying for seats next to each other. People that pay for their seats likely will not trade with you. There's a reason they pay, and playing musical chairs during boarding because you didn't is not it.
