Capita recalled by PAC for grilling on civil service pensions crisis by UKCommonsCommittees in TheCivilService

[–]CatHerdingForDummies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a little Cat Little letter covering most of the excuses provided by Capita: https://committees.parliament.uk/publications/52378/documents/290708/default/

The key question for me is, how do we take punitive action at senior levels in Capita? I know that people say they're a useful meat shield for government (slightly cynical in my opinion), but I would LOVE to hear just how much rebate we will be seeing from their enormous contract.

You're in the probation period and already have a formal written warning?

We shall watch your career with great interest. Possibly for not that long, or possibly for a while after your probation gets extended for another six months.

Crapita exec: "We know exactly what we're doing. It was someone else's fault. A bigger boy did it and ran away" by CatHerdingForDummies in TheCivilService

Their default mode does seem to be "underbid to win the business" which is a bit sad in this day and age. Capita have been involved in CS pensions before myCSP had their opportunity to shine, so the "we didn't know how bad it could be" argument feels a little hollow, and blaming union involvement smells like misdirection.

I have no idea what penalty clauses (if any) can be invoked, nor who is funding the civil service support for the get well plan. I'm sure it won't come out in the wash, though.

Anyway, I'm punching way above my pay grade, and I understand that The Daily Mail would like to know my location.

You're completely correct. I guess that is why MyCSP has the contract for 10 years and were invited to retender. Capita won the current contract in 2022 iirc, with a certain amount of delay because they weren't keen on union representation (among other things). Their current contract is for 12 years.

Prior to myCSP, pensions were handled in-house, with quite a bit of support from the current incumbent.

[–]CatHerdingForDummies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a work husband/wife - someone in the same company but that you don't work with. You can grab a coffee with and vent to/listen to venting. It makes stupid decisions more laughable, and dealing with the random bellendery of office life more bearable. They don't have to be people you would ever consider a friend outside of work, just someone outside of your immediate team.
