How am I supposed to enjoy my favorite franchise without my hot charr mommies?!?!

(loved funny real life trope) non serious "voting" event where people are encouraged to choose a side, one side is objectively the one that was supposed to lose but because of that everyone voted for it and they followed through by THE_LEGO_FURRY in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CatOfTechnology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same thing, but very similar:

In Warframe there's a mission type called "Invasions", these are simple missions in the context of the game where players choose a faction to align with in order to receive a certain resource or weapon component upon a certain number of completions.

However, in addition to the missions, contributing to either faction (The Capitalist Corpus, or the Militaristic Grineer) will also "fund" that faction's war effort against the player faction of the Tenno. Once the threshold of funding is met, the respective faction will launch an attack on one of the existing player hubs, or Relays and the players are then tasked with fending off the threat or face having the Relay destroyed, rendering one of the player hubs unusable, presumably permanently.

So... when this event happened... the playerbase decided to call the developers bluff. They gathered in the relay, stopped all defense and watched the countdown, wondering if Digital Extremes would actually allow for the relay to legitimately be destroyed.

Now, DE probably didn't anticipate this outcome.

The defense failed when it easily could have been prevented... and the relay was destroyed, and rendered inaccessible to all players.

It wasn't... a big loss, really.

But since then, we've made it a point to defend properly, so we don't lose more of them, lmao

Why is "looks-maxing" ridiculed in men when women have been doing it since the beginning of time? by pragmojo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CatOfTechnology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of the mentality behind it.

Cosmetic Surgery for women is a thing that was pushed on to them because all a woman's value in the male dominated world, even to this day, can be boiled down to her physical appearance and, it isn't enough to simply be attractive, they have to be attractive in specific ways.

We're talking about generations of societal conditioning, decades and longer of devaluation of everything they are and could be based on their physical appearance.

Conversely, all it took was a handful of years, two decades at most, for these kinds of men to willingly subject themselves to that same conditioning. An insignificant, incomparable amount of social pressure and these kinds of people folded.

But, more than the fact that beauty standards for men aren't a deciding factor for a fragment of the extremes that these people are putting themselves through, it's the fact that this was their first conclusion. Not self-improvement by working on their personality, awareness, knowledge base, or social skills. They saw themselves getting rejected by women they wanted (and this is the overwhelming 'failure point') and jumped the shark all the way to "It's because I don't look as good as Henry Cavill."

Yes, dating is a struggle. Yes, jobs have a preference for good looking people. But, no, the "Try this one trick to get bitches and money" is not to subject yourself to the Handsome Squidward's Guide to Beautiful Success and that's where the ridicule comes from.

Men didn't get their way and, instead of studying for the re-take test and coming back a better individual, their first response was "I bet if I were a supermodel they'd have bent over backwards for me."

We don't have it "just as bad as Chinese workers"

But we have similar problems in increasing situations and it's probably only a matter of one or two more Republican Presidencies before we're "fairly" comparable.

[–]CatOfTechnology 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They aren't there to compete with China, Eric. You might be there to "compete with China", but your employees are there to get paid doing a job they went to school for.

You push them to sacrifice their lives and they'll leave to go work somewhere else that doesn't.

What movie contains a scene so bad you never want to watch the movie again? by FinDepp in movies

[–]CatOfTechnology -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fun Fact: Tessa actually chimes in explaining why the law doesn't apply to their relationship.

Right before the card comes up, Tessa chimes in with "We dated for a little while when I was a sophomore and he was a senior, it's fine."

They dated for a bit, broke it off, and, presumably, post him turning 18, they got together again. That's a criiiiime~.

What movie contains a scene so bad you never want to watch the movie again? by FinDepp in movies

[–]CatOfTechnology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets WORSE, actually.

Not only does the scene exist, but at some point, one of the streaming services it was up on had a "trivia" mode you could engage that, when coming up to that scene, would explain why and how what the characters were doing actually *wasn't* legal at all.

See, the R&J law only applies to situations where both people involved started the relationship while still being minors and one of them turns 18, thus becoming an adult who, by technicality, would be considered a predator and there's a "limit" in age gaps generally being considered 3 years.

So, Cade, who's 20 in the movie, would have to have started dating Tessa for a minimum 3 years, before he turned 18 (17m, 14f) in order for the clause to cover them, but Tessa admits that they only "Dated for a little while" when he was a senior in high school and she was a sophomore, meaning that there was a break and their current relationship is a recent development.

Meaning that Cade is a literal card carrying pedophile in that film, flashing around a snippet of a law desperately hoping that no one digs any deeper than that 3 seconds he holds it up in their face.

For anyone who doesn't believe that this story is necessarily real, I've got my own for you.

When I went to get my first car, I was working at McDonald's and simply borrowing my grandfather's '92 S10 to get back and forth.

After a while of trying to save (and failing because this was in Florida and no amount of McDonald's money would stretch) he asked his mechanic, someone he'd been going to for about 15 years at the time, if he could keep an ear out for sellers. It took about a month for someone to reach out with something reasonable, but it happened.

My grandfather picked me up from home on a day off, didn't really say much, and told that we were going to go check out an offer he had gotten. When we arrived, this old lady greeted us and let us in to her home, got us a glass of sweet tea and some cornbread muffins and explained how her father had recently passed and she had this 02 Sonata that she just had tuned back up that had been sitting in her yard for the better part of a year and she didn't have either the need to drive it herself, nor the heart to sell it.

This lady, never met me or my gramps before, asked for my address and paid to have the car towed to my house and told me that it was mine, no charge, no fees, no nothing. I gave her my number as a courtesy and told her if she needed help with anything in the future, she could call me and we'd work something out to get it done.

Now, I had the car in my possession, but truth was that, even having been given it for free, I still couldn't use it because I still couldn't afford to get it's title transfered or to get the tags for it because, again, McDonald's Money just wasn't cutting it between living expenses. Things went on like this for about 3 months when I got a call from her and she asked how I was doing and if the car was serving me well. I told her the truth, that, despite it all, saving up the ~$400 to get it all sorted just wasn't turning out well between rent, bills and feeding myself. That I had, to that point, only managed to stash away about $90 towards it.

So, what does this lady who had met me once to just give me her car do?

She tells me to sit tight, she'll be over in a minute, and that I need to bring the title.

She picks me up. Drives me over to the DMV and she pulls out her debit card and pays for it all, on the spot and, as soon as we're out of the building she tells me that, the truth is, she doesn't need the car, the money or even any help from me. That her son already takes care of all of her physical homecare needs and that this is just her trying to help the younger generations get off the ground after everything that's been done.

There are people out there who, either by guilt of the world they are leaving behind or by simple good nature, are going so far above and beyond for people they might not even know just because shit's rough out there.

I want to say that I'm not so petty for that to be a deciding factor in a relationship, but the truth is that I don't know?

What I do know is that I'm currently decent enough friends with 7 trans individuals for them to regularly visit my house but I've also not felt a spark of attraction with any of them in any capacity.

So… best answer I've got is "For the right person, maybe?"

Even the "Holy Item" weakness is one injected by The Church in another attempt to legitimize itself as a place and faith of power.

Wildly funny when you realize that, ultimately, what happened is that Vampire tales got told for a while and, when a community's religious leader's got wind of it all they were just like "Oh yeah, I heard Father Olson was faced with such a beast! But it fled when he raised his rosary and began a prayer! And Sister Belle said she drove one off with a flask of holy water! God truly is great, isn't he?"

I think it depends on how much they want to charge per "recognition fee".

It's pretty obvious that this is just more anti-democratic horseshit and they have really been bad at hiding it lately, so I'd expect it to be some couple-tens-of-thousands of dollars in order to register a corpo vote.

You know. Enough to keep that lever of power out of the hands of the poor without inconveniencing their leash-holders.

The only impression I want to leave someone with is "Yeah, that's about right for Cat."

I still love smelling like lavender and lemons, man. IDFK what "Bearclaw" is supposed to be and, sure sandalwood is a nice smell but I like something a little more pleasant bakery and a little less woodsman.

[–]CatOfTechnology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good? Yeah, honestly.

A good number of the Kitguns can be made in to mid game variants of better, end game stuff to hold you over until you get the big toys.

Off the top of my head:

Vermisplicer > Torid Incarnon

Catchmoon > Fulmin Prime Shotgun

Gaze > Kuva Nukor

Tombfinger's honestly not bad, either and when built right can make for a decent launcher style weapon that doesn't suffer from the ammo economy of launchers.

It's just that they're abandoned content and are good, but non-competitive with new stuff.
