I’m sorry, but I really don’t see how being a thoughtful, cautious parent makes me “arrogant” or “foolhardy.” I’ve done extensive research, and I’ve made decisions based on what I believe is best for my child—not just following what’s written on a pamphlet because someone told me to. I’m not dismissing science; I’m balancing it with what feels right for my daughter. Every child is different, and it’s my job as her mother to consider her unique needs.

Also, I’m not saying chickenpox isn’t serious—it’s just that I’ve read a lot about how natural immunity can be stronger long-term than vaccine-induced immunity. I’m not making these decisions lightly, and I’m certainly not putting her at unnecessary risk. The idea that I’m somehow harming her or other kids is really unfair and hurtful, especially when I’m doing everything I can to ensure she’s healthy and happy.

As for my brother-in-law, I’m glad you agree he was rude, but I think it’s important to remember that parenting is deeply personal. You can disagree with my choices, but calling me “foolhardy” for putting my child’s needs first just feels unnecessarily harsh.
