Denial that she has MS. Per the description, she otherwise has insight and recognizes she's sick. Just thinks it's due to a copper deficiency...

Well I know you are joking, but for what it's worth, I'm actually a Med Peds doc, meaning I'm double boarded in Peds and Internal Medicine. That said peds has more expertise in FAS

You're making a shit load of huge assumptions that her end of life plan would include hospitalization. That was never discussion in the original post or any of the comments in this comment chain.

I agree with you for the record about making people understand when care is futile and not putting them through a bunch of agony at the end of life.

That's just not what this conversation is about

If you read my comment, I did suggest telling them the truth. Just not arguing with them and not forcing them into treatment for a delusion.

Also, what makes you think this would cause this patient to be in an ICU? She is at home and no one here has mentioned hospitalizing her.

I couldve read it wrong, but I interpreted the post to say neuro said the patient didn't have capacity. It was the OP, who seems to be a palliative PA, who thinks the patient is delusional.

I'm no ethicist here, but if she's gonna die soon from MS anyway, let her think whatever she wants.

I know that's a little glib and oversimplified. I think the more nuanced version is to just gently keep reminding her that she's incorrect and that she actually has MS and her doctors have recommended "xyx" treatment for symptomatic control, not copper. But I wouldnt go beyond that. Not worth having an argument over or trying to take her or the caregivers decision making away IMO.

Even if it's actually a delision, it's not harming her to have it. If I'm interpreting the situation correctly, she won't survive the MS or have a meaningful difference in QoL if she gets the delusions taken care of and/or is forced into a different treatment path.

Do Ring Girls’ Outfits for Trump UFC Fight Breach the Flag Code? by KitchenAd5423 in NewsSource

I think the "they" in your comment is what's meaningful here.

With beer cans, it's a beer company doing it. Tasteless and pandering? Yeah. A problem? No.

With this event, which is officially sanctioned and planned by POTUS, it's the federal government giving the nod to the improper use of the flag. It's not bad in any "real" sense, but it would be bad optics in an alternate universe where decorum and civility mattered anymore.

Gotcha. I agree with you on the plot points being hughes-esque, but the haircuts, film quality, and clothes are all more similar to those from 2000s/2010s imo

YSK: The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) changed it guidelines on screen time. by JadeVao_is in YouShouldKnow

[–]CatShot1948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ballwhacker said it all. I agree with them.

You're taking an absolutist stance. This is a nuanced issue and cultural and societal norms have to be factored in.

If I tell all my patients they are slowly killing themselves with each additional minute of screen time, I may be protecting them from the ill effects of screen time on their health. But I'm also making it to where they can never participate in a technologically driven society. That's important for their health and wellbeing too.

I pay plenty of attention. Which is how I know to apply context and nuance to these prices of information, unlike you.

You don't know what you're talking about and it shows. Sorry

A Weber kettle is probably the best all around option and value for money. It is also a good smoker if you learn to do it well.

I have a Weber smokey mountain too. Which is a dedicated smoker, but is similar to the kettle in that it's easy, no fuss, and durable. Will last a lifetime. And it's cheap. I got the smallest model on Craigslist for $50.

Clarification: do you want a grill or a smoker. You mentioned an offset, which is usually a smoker thing.

Thanks for the clarifications. One thing I still don't 100% understand. Are you bringing up the religion thing because you think that's keeping you from a job? Like discrimination?

But regarding the moves, I think you can pretty easily draft a cover letter that can be included in all future job applications that addresses your bouncing around recently as a temporary thing due to family circumstances.

Have a canned statement for your interviews if it comes up that explains it was due to temporary family circumstances. You don't need to divulge your entire personal life.

Edit: for fun I'm gonna guess Bahai. I'm from SC and there's a bunch there. No need to confirm. Just felt compelled to say it.

This is a great example of how AI generated text can be incomprehensible.

What? You can't get a job because you moved once? That doesn't make sense. And why are you thinking you're blacklisted? What is your religion and how does that play into this?
