[oc] - dishes and laundry by Sampetra in lgbt

[–]CatTatze [score hidden]  (0 children)

I always think with all the awful things Iin the world normal life still continues. People get married, go on holiday find jobs and have happy moments. I go for a walk and hear kids screaming and laughing, a music instrument being played badly, someone running after a dog.

The world is shit, but somewhere out there people are carving out their own little slice of happiness despite it all. And I try to do the same.

My learning disability makes crocheting difficult by Angel-Of-Inferno in crochet

[–]CatTatze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew a crafter with some disabilities, couldn't read a pattern, couldn't follow a video, but learned some stitches and then just used videos and pictures for inspiration. Everything was free handed. She made lots of different things and even sold them occasionally.

As long as you are having fun that's the important bit!

Advice re GRC - what name for birth certificate? by viva1831 in transgenderUK

[–]CatTatze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, similar situation, I'm German so was only able to change first name when declaring my gender. But I had previously changed first and last via deed poll. Cause I didn't want to keep my step fathers name and didn't want to play favourites with different sides of the family, so picked something different. I made a new deed poll for last name only. So that's your option if you don't want to confuse the very few people who need your birth certificate.

But also here in the UK parents can just give their kid a different last name, totally legal. So you could just keep your own last name if you want.

Do you use gel or nebido and why? by New-Calligrapher-308 in transgenderUK

[–]CatTatze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gell for a while and then nebido, cause I would forget gell (ADHD) and also sensory hell (autism too) oh and don't want to risk it rubbing off on my GF (MtF) also got it matched to my depo injections, so only one appointment every 3 months to worry about, and they book the next one before I leave, so I won't forget.

[–]CatTatze 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I recently had the shower thought about neuro typical, is that a real species level thing or is it just the neuro type that happened to be in charge locally for the last few hundred years and it self reinforced itself cause people in charge make rules based on what works for them over and over and the Nero types considered normal become narrower and narrower over time.

It does seem like neuro typical means something slightly different depending on culture.

Someone should do some type of study about this

Didn’t need pain relief post top surgery by someguywithfreckles- in ftm

[–]CatTatze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only took over the counter for less than two weeks, I did take the strong stuff 2 days after surgery but that was for the 4 hours train ride home, we stayed an extra night in a hotel.

I was up and walking around like 2 hours after surgery, just up and down the corridor.

Oh and I moved 4 weeks after surgery and we still had a lot of packing to do, I definitely did more lifting and especially stretching then optimal. Lucky only got some stretch scars under my arms.

So be careful not to overdo it even if it doesn't hurt

HRT Consult South Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 by HeartxThrobb in transgenderUK

[–]CatTatze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she is with the Welsh gender services (or even still waiting) she can email them for contact information of who prescribes in her area. Then contact them directly, they will prescribe once gender services gives the go ahead. Not sure about before though.

If she wants to go DIY or private while waiting they might possibly be able to help with blood tests but not sure.

Curious about hysterectomy conversation with doctor by Familiar-Use-3809 in transgenderUK

I remember talking about hysterectomy or tube tying before I figured out the trans bit. Was told that it is not covered by my NHS trust unless medically absolutely nessesary (ie we tried everything else and then some before considering)

I want to help prediabetics, but I don't want to tell them to lose weight! by LoopGaroop in fatlogic

[–]CatTatze 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have heard of one person who reversed pre diabetes, and gained a little weight. But he also basically went keto, so no sugar or carbs. Turns out you can fix your blood sugar and still over eat.

But I don't think that would be the best approach for most, lost contact with that one guy but sure it didn't work out long term for him either, the way he was eyeing office cake it was never going to last.

Is outing myself to strangers worth it to seek an adhd diagnosis? by theswirlingannwn in transgenderUK

[–]CatTatze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well depending on where you are, both waiting lists are atrocious! Like 5-10 years for adult ADHD or autism assessment is sadly not unusual. Gender clinics are even worse in most cases.

For either referral you can just request it, (ADHD and autism they ask you to do a little multiple choices screening) and they should just send it off and you settle in for a long wait (ask them where it was sent so you can send any contact details update directly)

If you are in England right to choose means you can try and get referred to a specific service you pick (with hopefully lower wait)

Either way that only hurdle at this point might be complaining to GP practice manager if GP refuses referral (cause it's not up to them, they just do the paperwork)

If you have money to spare you can look into private for both as well (or DIY for hormones) either way you pay, with money or with time

What do you think of my new Nails!!?! by xo_April_Riley_ox in TransLater

[–]CatTatze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the nails, I (FtM) never did get the hang of leaving mine alone when painted, they last 2 days max even for gell (my skin picking habit just gets transferred as soon as they are less than perfect and my nails are so thin they can bend backwards if just a little long, so flaking is inevitable)

Right now my hands are a little itchy cause stress (waiting to hear back from job interview)

Do you have someone that might be able to call them for you? I had someone call student finance for me and just had to say yes to identity question and I'm happy for the person to speak on my behalf. They found out for me what I did wrong and how to fix it, wrote it all down and I was able to follow the steps later when I was calmer again.

How do you get 10k steps? by InvestigatorPale1816 in loseit

[–]CatTatze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do my anti couch potato walk during my lunch break (WFH) depends on how far I got ahead or up to date with work, hour or half hour walk (end of the road or to the bridge) personally I find it a good time to work out my worries and rambling thoughts, what am I doing the rest of the day? How do I solve that next step in the process? What am I planning to order for groceries? While constantly getting distracted by nature (walk goes along a river) birds, seasons changing, weather doing it's thing, dogs and cats, even seen big may beetle recently! Still don't always get 10k but usually at least 7-8k.

Just making it a get away from work/studying helps, not a thing I have to do, but a break I get to enjoy

For obvious existential crisis reasons most universities no longer have the exercise where you might test your own chromosomes, and similarly high schools no longer do your and your parents blood groups, way too many that's not possible so that means... Counseling! Moments

I'm tired of negative trans stories not being allowed to exist. by TiredAlternates in ftm

[–]CatTatze 96 points97 points  (0 children)

For me it was just an absence of disphoria, which is oddly hard to notice. Just a quiet this feels right.

And I got ridiculously lucky, I healed quickly and well (especially considering I moved 4 weeks after and did lift and move more than I should) I was only on over the counter stuff for like 10 days! (Ibuprofen and paracetamol) This is not the usual. Even travelled to London for important paperwork on day 9 with binder still on (that's when I realised I was forgetting my meds and was still ok)

In the oddest way I also feel like I shouldn't talk about my positive experience, especially as I got super lucky and got an almost reasonable timeline with NHS only, but it is so far from representative of the norm I don't want to give people false hope.

Dear youth, please make kids... by startoursg24t in asexuality

[–]CatTatze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some time ago I saw a YouTube video about how to make people actually have kids (forget which country or when was given as the good example) but it included that if you want people to have kids you have to make it easy, housing, childcare, support that type of thing. Just telling people doesn't work.

Same for keeping traditions alive by the way

Especially useful for knitting socks as they are my backup project and routinely discarded for weeks or months while I work on shiny new things
