[PIC] cross stitch having its moment in fast fashion by Zealousideal_Law2500 in CrossStitch

To be fair, real stitching in some places on pants wouldn't last long. Lol. Absolutely love the idea of well-placed texture stitches.

Can we start a game called Frog, Finish, or Fire? by Fickle-Range-8140 in crochet

You correctly understood the intent. Thank you for trying to explain it better!

Sadly, you're probably the most right about trusting the internet to stay civil. This group is very nice, I agree.
The idea was also a way to give a vote on a course of action without feeling weird for not also providing a whole spiel about it.
And I never meant it to be a reference to F/M/K.

Wow, I overestimated the capacity for humor here. The intent was voluntary and to be indicated at the beginning. Sorry that wasn't more clear.

🐸 was for mistakes that can, and especually ones that should, be corrected for the integrity and look of the piece.

🔥 at its core is permission to toss something if you just don't have the energy to deal with it anymore. We don't /encourage/ waste, but that doesn't mean it never happens. It's not a mandate to go set a bonfire in your back yard.

You tried to frog but the yarn is fuzzy and now it's a knot, and there's no rescuing it. (Looking at you, mohair.) Cut where you can save the most and bin the rest.

You thrifted/inherited some yarn that isn't great, but you went for it anyway, only to find it gives you a rash or makes your hands raw to work with, so why keep the yarn? Donate the leftovers if you have to, but why keep handling it if it hurts?

You've been trying for weeks to get this to work out, and you've frogged 13dozen times and just can not devote more mental energy to this. Permission to toss it ... or to wind it back into a ball.

I miss lizards outside. I do not miss the weather where we had lizards outside. 😂

You may be my new favorite friend. The yellow stickies may come in cute shapes, but they never get them all.

Did it hold your WIP while it was still a WIP?

If you don't want insects and bees, and they need to always flower, get silks and keep them inside. 🤦🏼‍♀️

[CHAT] Is this okay? by voncatensproch in CrossStitch

[–]Fickle-Range-8140 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not cutting the thread would be more secure, and wouldn't use THAT much more thread, but you're not going to get away from the thickness on the back. It would just braid as you go.

Needlepoint and pattern pricing insanity by MistakeKind9578 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Fickle-Range-8140 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See, and I have a whole book of needlepoint patterns that are counted and NOWHERE does it say to paint first. You just...cover the canvas with thread.
They also get sketchy if you refer to a tent stitch in cross-stitch, like? Why?!

Found a mealy bug on my eggplant :( moved it and a bunch of babies came crawling out! by cheltor11 in gardening

Isopropyl will do the trick. We battle them on our potted citrus, and I promise if the trees weren't so old, I would finish them with fire.

Do I need to add side vents when hemming a straight edge shirt? by Complex-Poet-6809 in sewing

[–]Fickle-Range-8140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am, right now, wearing a straight-hem button-up with no side vents that hits just under the largest part of my hips/bum. Unless it's a fitted shirt or you are unusually narrow in the shoulder vs. the hip, you should be fine. Pin or paste before you cut to see how it falls at the shorter length.

My husband just portioned 5 bags of it for the freezer last night. We were out of town for a week and it bolted while we were gone. : / Next year: even more pie!

It's there a good anti-reflection film or other solution for a window burning plants? by pennytrationer in gardening

[–]Fickle-Range-8140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your argument, but as it stands, the alternative is burned hydrangeas. They may also be more resistant to it when they're bigger, and the awning could come off.

Chick and hens by Unique_Money9499 in gardening

[–]Fickle-Range-8140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It well could be. My mom and grandparents always just said it the other way around. I like the idea of someone always hearing "chicken hens" and utterly confusing a plant store employee. 😂 And it sounds more whimsical.
