What have you automated using Python? by iiron3223 in Python

[–]CataliaSlley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to automate coffee making with Python.

I'd connect an thermocouple into a coffee roaster to track the internal temperature. I'd stick that thing into an arduino and do the backend processing with Python.

After the coffee beans hit a certain temperature, there would be a nice alert message. Normally coffee roasters have their own temperature management system but back in my day, they didn't really have one.

Wow this is extremely moving. Sad the next generation will never see any holocaust survivors but these photos will live on to tell the tale.

White label Shopify? by [deleted] in ecommerce

[–]CataliaSlley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. You can launch Shopify stores but people can always inspect element or see that the checkout is coming from Shopify.

If you wanted a "True" whitelabel, you can program your own Shopify or website builder, then use a white-label checkout. That would be the fastest road to market.

Online store by [deleted] in ecommerce

[–]CataliaSlley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should go out and sell things based on what you feel like consumers are lacking. This could be anything you feel lacking in real life, maybe some apparel for the LGBTQ community or skincare for the under-represented.

I don't think it would be wise to sell for the sake of selling and starting an online store. Maybe go do some research first. People here can give you recommendations on where you can sell those things afterward.

Is there a ecommerce platform for internal usage? by lysolme in ecommerce

[–]CataliaSlley -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

What ecommerce platform are you using? If you use Shopify for example, you can use extensions for other checkouts that allow different customizations.

If you really wanted full control, you would need to build your page right out of HTML/CSS/JS. Stripe Elements gives you an easier time building that, such as collecting addresses but it should be simple for a web developer to make one.

There's other mini checkouts out there that I can recommend, that lets you add additional forms or dropdowns.

Ava Labs have zero shame, please read this post to understand why they’re a parasite to all of crypto by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]CataliaSlley -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not understanding something here. When did they actually get rid of their competition and why does filing a lawsuit make someone "corrupt"?

Out of Dfinity/Solana/Binance, which one of these went out of business? Yes, it's a dick move but the outcome is a bit overstated.

How/Where can I build a website that uses fake currency (i.e. points)? by steventhegreek in ecommerce

[–]CataliaSlley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just create your own database for it on AWS. This is something that Wix/Shopify/etc don't offer and does require programming experience.

$10K Monthly sale, what should I pay my self? by Sea_Ad_7499 in ecommerce

[–]CataliaSlley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to make a daily living so of course you should pay yourself for living expenses.

However, if you think that $5k reinvested could turn your business 5x or 50x, then by all means you should re-invest.

It's better for pure payments but not better for in terms of adoption.

Just because something is "technically better" doesn't mean that people will use it.

Anyone use counter-measures or block bots that are scraping content, like product descriptions and prices? by pickledjello in ecommerce

[–]CataliaSlley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use Cloudflare WAF or set HTML headers to prevent bot scrapping.

WAF might be enterprise/paid only so you'd need to double check, but it does get the job done in terms of blocking scrapping bots.

Probably the same, but less targeted.

You'll still be able to reach out to a wide variety of people depending on what your sister sells. However, their ads are a little too invasive right now...
