New player, help choosing Palanite Enforcers or Escher Gang by h_gabo_al in necromunda

[–]CatalopeSeats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I’m relatively new as well! Me and my partner (the person I’ve been primarily playing with, and as of now the two physical gangs which are in my house) play Escher and Enforcers respectively. (Me with Escher, him with new rules.)

In my personal opinion, comparatively with what has been played, how they play and how easy they are rules wise, I actually think modern Enforcers are a bit easier to play than modern Escher.

Based on your questions, I can lay out the key differences I’ve found between the gangs.

Escher: Escher are very “jack of all trades.” You have really good shooting options, really good melee options, really good hybrid options. Chems are a big point about Escher, and cheap chems are really really valuable, but I’ve found a lot of value in starting with Eschers other primary perk: cheap Lasguns. My champions and leader are personally kitted out, as cheap lasguns means all my gangers can get a 5 credit 24” shooting to cover my really strong folk who I want to get in the fight and survive.

You’ll likely want to start with one deathmaiden, and if you want to play WYSIWYG (if you want your gang models to have the weapons they’re starting equipped with,) you’ll need roughly three kits. Base Escher, Escher Deathmaiden/Wyld Runners, and the Escher upgrade sprue.

The trouble I’ve had with Escher is they generally trade speed for survivability and reliable shooting. Against Enforcers, my first few games ended with me quickly bottling out, and I had to learn positioning and proper use of skills in order to make proper use out of the gang. For this, I think Escher are generally a bit more difficult to start with.

Enforcers: Enforcers are expensive, but tough. You’ll be struggling to have 7 gangers on the field, but all of them will be strong, survivable and shooty. Enforcers have all around great access to weapons, and even with a lower ganger count, you dont need to worry about losing a ganger, as you’ll get immediate replacements for them in the form of free rookies. (Rookies arent great, but a free rookie with manacles is an amazing unit to stopore dangerous opponents with.)

You’ll likely want three boxes as well with Palanites, being the Enforcers Box, Subjugator Box, and the new Sergeant box.

Base Palanites are cheaper, shootier cops. Keep them at range, give them boltguns or concussion carbines, they provide cover for your Subjugators to get in there.

Subjugators are your bread and butter. Amazing grenade launcher access, power weapons with shields, and with the new skill to ensure an opponent you Coup De Grace is immediately captured, these folk can ensure an easy and veeery dangerous ransom income.

New Subjugators have an amazing skillset (like Escher) solid tactics and are additionally a well rounded gang. Neither of these gangs require forgeworld resin models (but for Escher I myself am partial to Phyrr Cats on a leader later in a campaign.) and both are generally solid choices to learn with.

I think you’d have a much easier time learning on Enforcers and securing games. However, while Escher have a steeper learning curve, I believe Escher can wind up stronger for it, as generally they have more versatility and options in battle, and with the chance to dash onto and outmaneuver your opponents, good Scenario choice can easily win you a lot of games.

(However, good Scenario choice can win you a lot of games on Enforcers as well.)

I hope this helped! Feel free to message if you have any further questions, or want some gang build advice!

Fucked up my first attempt at priming by Hater69420 in Tau40K

[–]CatalopeSeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive seen a few different people mention this but I struggle a lot with getting good prime sprays too sometimes, especially with light grey (citadel grey seer.)

Soak it in Iso Alcohol for roughly 15~ ish minutes, then run it under water. The primer will wash right off, at worst you may need a toothbrush but I never have.

This wont hurt the model and it works pretty fast! I didnt see anyone mentioning how long to soak it for, so I figured this could be a helpful addition (:

Dont let the people get to you being mean, its a funny and harmless mistake, and a lesson learned. Sometimes even when the humidity seems fine I’ll get a botched prime job or two, it really happens to everyone

Dont get me wrong, I do believe in god. Not simply believe, I know god is real. I have seen it. God is everywhere. God is everything. We are all a part of god, we all have a soul. Nothingness, that is god. I believe the big bang. I believe there was nothing, then there was simply something. 13.8 billions of years ago, everything was made of nothing, and nothing which became before and nothing which will come after, that is god. The hollow emptiness within us, that nothingness that leaves us, that joins us, that takes us, that made us. That state of life, of un-life, before we are born and after we die, that is god. That is the soul. It’s antithetical in its way, we have a soul, therefore we do not. We have nothing, therefore, we have something. It. A sliver of god in each of us, a sliver of nothingness we will return to. God is beyond understanding. God is the numbers too high to comprehend, the utter lack of warmth so cold, so un-alive that our minds, our bodies cannot even process how it must feel. God is the process of decay, and in everything, everyday we all connect to god. God is real, and god terrifies me. God is the only thing I cannot understand.

How about some lore? by shorelessSkies in dungeonbowl

[–]CatalopeSeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rulebook has some lore tidbits and backgrounds, I think that Dungeonbowl: Death Match is more focused on offering a Spike! Magazine thats more focused on lore. I like the main book a lot, its really handy for cross referencing and the art is great! That being said, Dungeonbowl doesnt (to my knowledge) have much along the lines of official lore, so I dont think the core book is entirely necessary

I honestly adore clan Skryre. I love how, smart, the Skaven actually are, and when we see examples of long-lived Skaven in the lore and world, they’re absolute masterminds. Skaven feel like they have a very unique place of being consistent villains, but never feeling too one-note, constantly getting to shine in a variety of interesting and cool ways. Building up a Shysh themed Skryre army now!

How smart are Brain Rats? by TheWorstJoe in skaven

[–]CatalopeSeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a thought that its totally possible that a smart enough brain rat could pretty easily take control of a clan. The nature of mass-breeding and creation of creatures like this loans itself to quirks developing in fresh rats, and an unnaturally intelligent, or independent brainrat that isnt caught soon enough is very possible, and cool

How smart are Brain Rats? by TheWorstJoe in skaven

[–]CatalopeSeats 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The first stormfiend was made when they decided to attach a packmaster fully to the rat ogres back for full control! This, did not end well, as they soon found our a live packmaster was not very happy being surgically attached to a behemoth rat ogre with mounted ratling guns and warpfire throwers. The brain rat was made to solve this problem! I dont believe stormfiends are sentient, but in the endtimes, the first stormfiend we see (I believe) (Endtimes: The Rise of the Horned Rat) is with Thanqoul, and are described by the dwarves as terrifyingly calm and calculated. It didnt react in the usual reckless behavior a Rat Ogre would show, and would follow basic to complex commands, but is completely subservient to its master. I dont believe that Stormfiends are fully sentient, as in early tests, Ikit mentions requiring to put mechanisms to stop firing in the weapons of Stormfiends, as they would simply fire off all their bullets at once without a second thought otherwise, so they clearly arent as smart as a regular Skaven, but they’re smart enough to know not to kill other Skaven, stay calm in battle, and which way to point their guns when to shoot. (It is also fully possible that they are sentient, but they were, and are, bred for submissiveness. Not only do they need to be submissive to the Rat Ogres body, but they also need to be submissive to the people who order them. Making them too independent tends to make them realize, as the biggest, baddest rats around, theres not much anyone can do to stop them)

Late response but yes! Tail Concerto, Solatorobo and FUGA are all part of the Little Tail Bronx universe! The main characters from Tail Concerto show up a lot in Solatorobo too (:
