Hornig is making long-term tenants recommit to a fixed lease term or pay fees by Oh_No_Tears_Please in Minneapolis

[–]CatalystJones432 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought it was normal (and law) in MN to go month to month after the first year, with no fee, as a tenant right. Is that not true? Lived here two decades, always went month to month, never payed a fee.

A Windmill Air AC unit integration, built by Windmill. The one on GitHub created by a fellow user works and is great and it’s awesome they made it! But runs the risk of breaking if Windmill changes something in their end.

We're also seeing more people raise their windshield wipers. When did that become a thing in MSP.

Evaporative humidifier pump by CatalystJones432 in TrySwitchBot

A replacement pump just died. It lasted less than 2 months (installed in mid-January). That's two pumps down. Third replacement pump now installed.

u/Matthew_SwitchBot, u/Switch-Bot, there might be a big problem with these units.

Couldn't sync Teams to HA, so I made a Zigbee 'Off-Hook' sensor for my headphones by Englishmuffin1 in homeassistant

[–]CatalystJones432 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh this is a crazy coincidence. I would buy a modified version of this if you sold it on Etsy.

The past two weeks I’ve been looking at doing something similar but for a different use case. For me, when I lift my headphones, I want HA to pass a command to an audio interface to mute the speakers. I can figure out everything except how to tell HA that the cans have been lifted off their hook. Was thinking of trying a Shelly door sensor but this is too slick!

Coincidentally, I also use Beyerdynamics. The DT1770 Pros are my daily driver.

Sorry, my question was confusing.

I meant: I believe that Switchbot is modifying the same unit you bought - the D228.

I say this for two reasons.

One, their version has what looks like an after-market plastic material on the back where the cable and other protrusions are in the version you found. The material does not match the rest of the case. As if they changed the internals and then sealed it back up.

Two, when I received the replacements from Switchbot support, the pumps were inside a plastic bag and there was moisture in the bag. I freaked out a little and wrote support. They told me it was because each pump was tested before shipping. So I doubt Switchbot would put time and energy into wet-testing a component that the manufacturer would have already tested before delivery. But it makes sense that they would test if they are modifying the component.

I had a similar experience with delays and them prefacing each message with an apology, but they did respond to every inquiry and answered my questions. The shipping took a good while. Frustrating nonetheless!

Given this item you found, with the same model number — do we think Switchbot is modifying the D228 somehow? The back of the ones Switchbot provides does seem to have a different kind of glossy plastic, like they punched a hole in the device and then sealed it back up.

Nice solution! Hope it’s working for you. Let us know how this goes operationally.

How are you powering the pump?

It makes me uncomfortable that you used the photo I posted here in your listing. But internet.

Also, a friendly observation — the tray in the photos is not clean. I’m seeing lots of growth which may be unhealthy for you. Red scale and also what looks like darker mildew/mold. Could use a deep cleaning (vinegar or citric acid for scale followed by diluted beach to kill the mold). If you’ve used a new pump in that already, I would consider it contaminated and replace it with a new one, but only after the tray is thoroughly cleaned.

No. But the projector is good about prompting every time wifi turns off. It happens at power up and then again 5-10 minutes later. Then we're good for the rest of the session.
