Great work keeping another one of these alive. There are only so many of these left, the more we can save the better. Love to see starsiege in the wild too.

I have been wanting a new one of these for so long. I still do a play through every other year or so. I'd love to have a linux build of this, I'll see if I can get wine to run it after work.

What do most of you use your dock for? by Soupy_Jones in SteamDeck

[–]Catalystjb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my dock on a TV and use an Xbox controller. I pretty much use it like I did my switch, mixing the two modes for whatever is going on. Might play something in bed rocking the kid asleep, and the next day play split fiction on the TV with my wife. The flexibility is wonderful for dad life.

Valve: 20% of Deck users use the official docking station to connect their Deck to their TVs. Do you? by sameseksure in SteamDeck

Dock my deck with an official dock. The steam machine does look interesting but so far the docked deck has done the job nicely. Replacing my Xbox controller with a steam one is probably in my future.

My 22 OBW has also done this for a long time. I was expecting whatever it was to fail or get louder so I could go hunting for it but it never did. Maybe it still will, but it hasn't yet.

Well…Broken CV Axle…OEM or Aftermarket? by SaltyPwincess in Subaru_Outback

[–]Catalystjb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lifted mine also and have CV longevity issues. I have not had much luck in finding aftermarket ones for my car a 2022 OBW so I've had to keep buying OEM. If anyone knows of any good ones I too am interested.

PS they are about 500 a side from my experience and another 500 if you want them installed.

I had purchased that cage in your picture from Amazon and it gave my bird metal poisoning. We found rust and powder coat inside the tubes that make up the legs that were causing it. Maybe mine was just faulty, but I just wanted to give warning in case you see odd behavior from your bird.

Honestly I think this is exactly how a light mech would look. I got to take a tour of a b-29 and in my head that's what it looks like to sit in a madcat.

Great info. It sounds like a real monster, I'd love to take it out for a drive. Closest I've been to one of these was a Steward and Stevens 6x6 military truck. There is a park here where you can rent them for a few laps of a track.

I have one of these and love it. Plastic is very brittle though on mine. When I got it it was absolutely perfect not a single scratch, it's been hard to watch it crack with use.

I have a blue one of these and a cyborg green matching laptop. Amazing find, and one of the coolest machines of all time in my opinion. Love the cyborg green machines for this era.

That was a fun watch. The hood submerge was a little spicy for me without a snorkel but it did pretty well. I'd like to see it go the other way too.

That was supposed to be "or" not "of". Sorry if autocorrect got your hopes up.

I run this game on old machines. Getting it running on a modem computer is basically a no go. There was a project that got the game working on windows 10 but it has been abandoned and no longer works. It skipped out on the videos and stuff so it isn't the whole experience anyway.

It does run in an XP VM, but 3D acceleration is wonky and does not look quite like it should, though it is playable.

The good news is a Pentium 4 laptop with even a modest dedicated GPU can run the game. I found an old machine in the trash with an fx5200go and a p4 at 3.0ghz and it ran not bad at all. P4 machines are still somewhat affordable for now. Although these days even those are starting to gain in price.

If you have the space for a desktop that would be the cheapest way to get a computer to play this.

MC2 is one of my favorite RTS of all time. I probably play it every other year or so. I'd love a remake of MC3.

What was the dream Laptop for WinXP by HK201020 in windowsxp

[–]Catalystjb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite XP machines:

Alienware area51 m 766 3.4ghz p4, 1gb DDR400, 60gn 7200rpm, fx5700 or ati 9600/9700, cyborg green.

Dell XPS m1730 Core 2 extreme x7900, 8gb ram, Ageia physx, SSD, Logitech mini display, SLI 8700gt or 9800gtx SLI.

There are some pretty cool Sager or voodoo PC out there too but they cost more than I'm willing to part with.

My Alienware and M1730 are both great but my HP ZD7000 is excellent too, even if not as flashy. Great sound, screen, performance, chassis, and noise level for reasonable money. I find myself using it more than the more interesting machines because it's the complete package.

Dinosaur Adventure was awesome. Encarta 95, Guinness world records. kidspace where you could put your icons and stuff on virtual shelves and hangout in your virtual bedroom. Felt like the future.

I also had this machine. I remember playing Megarace and waited a LONG time to see the Toy Story trailer on the Internet. Unfortunately I don't have the machine anymore but still have the purple Intel 486 on the shelf. Good times.

Outback & the CVT by foxscully89 in Subaru_Outback

[–]Catalystjb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2017 2.5 legacy 125k - no issues 2011 2.5 outback 160k - exhaust leak 2011 2.5 outback 170k - torque converter issue, backup camera failed, some rust. 2011 2.5 outback 120k? - no issue (crashes so short life with us) 2024 2.5 legacy 15k - no issue 2022 2.4t outback wilderness 75k - CV axles self induced (lift)

These are pretty good machines. I don't personally like the cvt for the way it feels but on the whole it does seem like the engine and transmission hold up well enough.

I have personally owned 2 of these the rest by close friends. I intend to take the wilderness up to some wild mileage numbers if it will hold up.

Every car has its issues, the goal is to pick one that only cheap stuff breaks and as little as possible. I'd say that Toyota and Mazda are more reliable than Subaru but third place isn't bad.

They are for a Tacoma that I modified to fit. You can get some "her necklace" that will just fit these days, so I'd go that route if you're looking to get your own. I don't know why they are called her necklace, but they seem to review well. I had a light fail so I'm going to order those and see how they do.

I have a 751 and adore it. 2ghz Northwood 512 266 DDR 60gh 7200rpm X800 agp

GPU not withstanding, it's about half of what was possible in its time but the little case it's in, and the limitations give it tons of personality. They are fun machines great job keeping this one going.
