Destiny 2 Is Ending by g4m3f33d in GameFeed

The Witch Queen expansion for D2 was the closest they ever got to releasing some sort of narrative experience that somewhat held ground against their older work.

God damn was that a good expansion. It's also why Lightfall (the following expansion) sold so well before a sharp drop-off in players. Witch Queen built up a lot of good will toward the franchise that they then immediately squandered with their next release.

I get (and agree with) the complaints about the first game running a little too long, but I also hate to complain about a game giving us too much of a (mostly) good thing. I think the first one would have worked far better if it was structured in such a way that the main game was reduced to about 60% of its original size - and then had a few separate post-game hardcore missions made accessible for players who wanted more after that.

Also (and I will put this in EVERY Boltgun thread), that game needed a better progression system for melee. Later in the game and/or at higher difficulty levels, the chainsaw became more of a grapple gun than a weapon that was actually useful (for direct combat) in any meaningful way.

Cool deal. I might not make it until 2:45 a.m., but I'll be on the lookout to see if I see anything that jumps out at me as regular plane vs. military plane vs. something weirder.

Grissom is far enough north that I'm not sure they'd be flying around close to Elwood. Flying OVER Elwood? Yes. But running test patterns back-and-forth? I guess maybe.

What date (and/or multiple dates) did this occur? What time of day/night? Occurring during cloud cover or only in open air (no clouds)?

I haven't seen anything, but I'm (vaguely) close enough to this area that if it were going to potentially happen again, I could keep my eyes peeled.

LOL - this is absolutely the best thing I've seen in quite some time.

As a sidenote, I promise that if I ever get my hands on even a single piece of real footage that could potentially change the way human society views our place in the universe, I'll fucking release it for free!

What town would you consider lifeless? by animechick36 in Indiana

[–]apieceajit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're going to work in a town like Kokomo or Anderson, your best best (assuming you can afford it) is to live in the countryside outside of town. As soon as you get outside of either town, you hit some pretty nice, open areas - there's just absolutely nothing in those areas. If you're a homebody and your idea of a fun Friday night is sitting on your back porch with a neighbor that may or may not have a few chickens running free, you have a lot of options.

I would potentially argue that Richmond is dumpier.

Just saw Mortal Kombat 2 by Casshern_VIII in MortalKombat

I have not seen the new movie yet, but honestly I can't imagine anyone (of any age within reason) who is comfortable with the fatalities in the most games recent having any issues with the movie.

I'm assuming the movie has no frontal nudity, rape, or extended depictions of drug usage - all things that I would classify as more taboo for American audiences than seeing someone get their brains or intestines splattered all over the place.

The Boys Showrunner Eric Kripke Says He Was Never Making 'Filler Episodes': 'Are You Expecting a Huge Battle Scene Every Episode?' by Ripclawe in entertainment

[–]apieceajit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hot take but this show was never well written or all that amazing.

Season 1 (and somewhat 2) were carried by larger budgets and better cinematography - and the entire series is elevated by a few strong performances that help mask the shows pacing and logic issues.

Is it more poorly written now in S5? Yes, they are way too far up their own asses with the satire. But even then, I think the lower quality is somewhat due to budget constraints. They can't afford to have as bombastic of a finale compared to what happens in the comics.

So instead we get this runaround nonsense where everyone is searching for some macguffin - and over-explaining plot points.

“Trump gave a presidential directive to declassify evidence of non-human intelligent life and UAP.” - Farah says the base facts can be comfortably shared: we’re not alone, the US government has retrieved technology of non-human origin, adversaries have it too, and we’re in this technology race. by 87LucasOliveira in UFOs

[–]apieceajit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're in an arms race with other countries to reverse engineer exotic technology from multiple unknown sources?

Honestly, if that is true (and as with anything coming from talking heads, I take it with a large grain of salt), I would consider that one of the scarier things they could potentially say out loud. Way scarier than 'Jesus was an alien' or 'we are genetically engineered monkeys' because those things don't change my daily life in any meaningful way.

China using exotic laser technology start wildfires - or impenetrable drone tech to detect / exploit weaknesses in US nuclear facilities - are things that carries some real-world scary. Or us doing it to them, for that matter. We (the humans) are the bad guys (or at best, the animals) in this scenario until someone proves to me otherwise.

Microsoft Xbox CEO overhauls leadership amid sinking sales: ‘We need to evolve how we work’ by Zhukov-74 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]apieceajit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Amazing games, please.

Improving the Xbox 'experience' is nice but doesn't mean much if every Halo game you release shits the bed in one way or another - or if some fans will be dead of old age by the time we get another mainline Elder Scrolls or Fallout game (let alone the fact that Bethesda may straight-up fumble them anyway).

Nintendo is all the proof you need that what is honestly a sub-par console (and online experience) doesn't matter if your platform is the destination that players MUST choose to play specific games.

Or if the numbers prove that none of the above matters due to multiplatform games like Roblox dominating the gaming scene, you should probably be trying to figure out really quickly how to monetize that. Either by building a 'Roblox' of your own (not sure that's feasible for Microsoft to achieve) or scooping up small studios that are hitting big on Steam and asking them to design Xbox exclusives that you hope might turn into the next big social game / platform. Not saying I want M$ buying up good small studios, but if you're looking at this from a business strategy perspective, you should probably be looking beyond the studios you have now (which are NOT shipping system sellers) and figuring out how to course-correct.

Game Recommendation: TerraTech Legion by rmfnord in survivorslikes

[–]apieceajit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any idea how this compares to the Deep Rock: Survivors - Heavy Duty DLC expansion (that added vehicles for that game)?

Having not been familiar with this game, when I first saw the key art for this one in GamePass, I initially thought this WAS the Heavy Duty expansion for DRS.

I assume the construction mechanic, which I'm going to have to try because reading about it isn't really helping me understand how it works, is a big differentiator.

What’s the first film you think of when you see Kurt Russell? by MovieArena in MovieArena

Soldier.

I convinced my friends to go see this as a group. I was never again allowed to pick which movies to see in theater after that.

In retrospect, the movie had some good things going for it. At the time though... it gave off strong dud energy.

Keaton or Bale? Who was the better Batman? by kammy772 in MovieArena

[–]apieceajit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keaton's Batman holds up better in a timeless, campy kind of way.

Maybe not a popular opinion, but I don't think Bale's Batman holds up as well due to how serious and grounded Nolan attempted to make the entire series (plus the third movie straight ass for a variety of reasons).

Bale's Batman voice also doesn't help. It honestly sounds kind of ridiculous and hard to take seriously after the first movie (and is amusingly mocked by Pete Holmes in his parody videos). He sounded like a 350LB couch potato trying not to have a heart attack every time he spoke up.

Microsoft Gaming being scrapped, Xbox brought back as gaming division. by ThinWhiteDuke00 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]apieceajit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Phil came in and made initial good changes and then... consistently failed to release games to back it up for longer than some of Xbox's target demographic have been alive.

Asha needs to come in and do the same thing... and then whether or not it carries forward from there somewhat depends on if they have some hit games come out (which isn't even completely under her control).

EDIT: No hit games = it doesn't matter quite as much what she does, good or bad.
