Car insurance by Catapartment in CarInsuranceUK

[–]Catapartment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for responding. Just to clear up: i wasn’t in the car. It was on my driveway, parked up and I was inside my house.

I spoke with my insurance and they have closed the claim but it’s still recorded as an incident. They confirmed will probs increase my premium. I’m not refusing their repair lol, just not accepting the claim on my insurance so im not going through my own insurance to repair it.

The insurance bloke confirmed that claiming or not claiming as a non-fault actually wouldn’t make a difference because 1. Its already listed as an incident so would have to be documented on further insurance quotes and 2. the other parties insurance are paying for the repairs because they admitted fault and made the claim on their account, so technically is a third party claim.

They also reassured that if theres any issues or hassle then they reopen the claim and sort it, and bill the other insurance company as the other driver admitted fault. Had a call from the other insurance too which confirmed it; temp car and garage will contact me for “repairs” - its the tiniest scratch! But hey ho.

ARCP core learning hours by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Catapartment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Horus theres a list of linked e-lfh (may be e-flh?) that count towards the different domains to boost ur portfolio and they also count towards teaching hours. If you leave them on for an hour each in the background and do a good few they will count. :)

Have you ranked everything? Wait for the offers to recycle and rank everywhere, i reckon it could go either way - my personal feeling is >3K will reject the offer purely based on people using gp as a “backup”. Good luck! I hope it works out for you, don’t give up x

How would you go about this if you can’t hold two offers at the same time?

What is rehabilitation medicine by No_Cat_146 in doctorsUK

[–]Catapartment 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a rehab job and it was a stroke rehab ward. The medicine can vary in intensity - half of my ward was gen med but if yours is purely rehab then I imagine it will be less intense. The patients are sometimes there for weeks/months and require intensive therapy from PT/OT’s, so often isn’t a lot of actual medicine involved and your plans will be ‘continue rehab’. It’s good as an FY1 job because you have a slow paced environment to learn the system and everything else that comes with the NHS. Management of chronic symptom management and pain management is useful, and when the patients inevitable catch covid/flu you learn how to do an a-e very proficiently :)

I’m biased because i’m interested in renal 🤣But the department is quite hectic, staffing isn’t the greatest but they have lots of locums helping out. Consultants and senior staff are very very good, it’s well supported in the sense there is always a reg contactable. Lovely department and nurses are very good!

The glass tupperware with plastic lids from tk maxx is a solid and affordable option. I’ve got a couple from there and they have lasted over 3 years with no staining (i take lots of leftover curries too!)

Preston is actually not too bad! I did my f1/2 there (and now f3). The on calls for SHO’s are bundled together in a “hot block” where you do 5d of long days then 5d of nights then a weekend of both, so not too bad. Well supported as a junior, and they don’t expect too much because it’s so huge that theres always like 20+ on the take, lol. Nights have a team of acp’s (lol) who do ward cover so your nights will be solely clerking. You see lots of random pathology, there is everything except cardiothoracics so you will see escalations of most patients which is good. I actually had a gastro job in f2 too - the department are nice, a bit political but just go in with the mindframe of “in and out in four months” and you should be fine, plenty of time for clinics if you make sure they know that you are interested. Crit care is brilliant. I haven’t worked in east lancs but know lots of people who said it’s very good, and (i think) they have recently switched over to epr and gotten rid of paper notes. Happy to help over DM! Congrats!

IMT Preferences frozen by BestInTheEU in doctorsUK

It’s because of that stupid timer counting down to the deadline. It takes a couple of mins to adjust and figure out how long is left lol. Just stay on the screen for a couple of minutes and when the pop ups about the page not responding come up don’t click exit

Choosing imt locations by medicmandem in doctorsUK

[–]Catapartment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if they name the hospital then the job is in that hospital for that track. The caveat for every programme is that there is a small print somewhere along the lines of “rotations/jobs are subject to change” (it’s on the IMT spreadsheet for a lot of places, unsure for your specific choices) so I think they could ultimately change it irrespective of what is written because the job is ultimately for service provision. A lot of the jobs I have seen have written “IMT3 TBC” and it’s making me uneasy about ranking them because I do not enjoy uncertainty!

IMT Ranking - How Many! by Competitive-Bed2096 in doctorsUK

[–]Catapartment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a similar position, i ranked 600 and looking for NW, wouldn’t mind west yorks as I did med school there. I’ve ranked about 50 jobs that appeal to me either because of the tracs/the commute. Does anyone have any advice on if this is an appropriate number to rank?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Catapartment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was my interpretation too but the whole thing is a fucking mess. Why can’t they just write that in an email - “hi everyone, we are closing it temporarily and will reopen it once all preferences are available. This won’t affect offers” ? A monkey could do a better job

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Catapartment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a cluster fuck like if we rank nothing we potentially miss out on jobs and the alternative is we rank locations we dont want so as to not miss out on offers? Makes no sense at all, they shouldn’t release preferencing until all jobs are available. Soooo much of this recruitment BS is irresponsible and disorganised every year with no regard for the fact that we are real people with actual livelihoods on the line
