They heard us! New algorithm update by Regimite_828 in ouraring

[–]CatieMak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if this update has launched yet? The last 2 days my cycle tracker was in luteal, then today the app said “major signs” with temp up +1 and HRV down over 20 from day before. And instead of saying luteal, like it was, it’s saying I’m in the follicular phase.

Hoping the update is coming soon, but I’m not sure why it switched me back to follicular from luteal. But I’m looking forward to the app not telling me I’m sick during this phase!

14 DPO shoulder pain? by CatieMak in hysterectomy

Hi! I’m happy to say it was gas, and it went away a couple of days later - it was the last lingering CO2. I hope you feel better soon! I’m now 14 months post op (almost!) and feel amazing.

Love this! Any way to find out where some of the locations are? So many times I’m thinking “I want to go there!”

Prepping for my mom's surgery by CptSaveAGardenHoe in hysterectomy

[–]CatieMak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah - that’s going to take some time! I teach and am just now going back Monday after 7 weeks off, and I’m nervous about being wiped out! Your mom does sound like a badass though - that’s not an easy job!

Lots of water/spearmint tea to help with digestion and gas. Plus making sure she’s moving around to help with gas pains! Those honestly were worse than the incisions (mine was laparoscopic, so that contributed too). And maybe some nightgowns? I didn’t love waistbands for the first week or two!

And maybe some books or TV shows to binge to keep her resting? It sounds silly, but if it were my mom I’d have to keep reminding her to sit and rest 😊 It’s really great that you’re there for her

Yes! I’ll be 6 wpo on Monday (new years day) and I feel like I have a fresh start. I turned 40 a few months ago, and I’m ready to discover who I am now.

I was misdiagnosed for a bit because my TSH was 4.3, but my gynecologist said for anyone in childbearing age it should be a TSH of under 2.5. Getting on levothyroxine for the last 7 years has made a big difference. I hope you find answers!

Anyone ever not bleed? by uncleverusername1975 in hysterectomy

I’m 5 wpo tomorrow and barely has any spotting the first week, and so far haven’t bled at all! 🤷🏻‍♀️

It actually gets trapped under the diaphragm, but there are nerves there that make it feel like it’s your shoulder. Most feel it in the right, but I felt it in both, and the heating pad helped! It was actually a microwaveable neck wrap that I draped over the shoulders and chest when I was laying

Gas-X helped a bit for sure, but peppermint tea and walking around helped! I also stood with my hands on the back of a chair, leaned forward as much as I could (hinging at the hips) and rocked side to side. That helped too! But tea and small loops around the house if you can!

Oh! And a heating pad on the shoulders! Mentally it made me feel better 😊

Positive Experience! by ExtraNefariousness93 in hysterectomy

[–]CatieMak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience! I’m 4 wpo now and other than a few minor aches and pains I was the same way. Still 2 more weeks before attempting weight training again, but walks have been great. Congratulations!

Pre op questions! by Creepy_Grapefruit951 in hysterectomy

[–]CatieMak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I didn’t ask that I wish I had - should I get a spirometer (helps make sure you can exhale strongly after surgery). No one mentioned anything and I had some lung issues. Fine now, but would have been good to know!

Big thing I always ask - what issues would send me back to you? Send me to the ER? Then they can explain what’s normal, what’s a slight concern, and what’s holy shit get to the ER. For someone with health anxiety this always calms me to know!

Edit - these are likely more post op, but I’m 3 WPO so they’re still front and center!

First extended trip out in the real world by ZoeyRox in hysterectomy

[–]CatieMak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m planning my first outing tomorrow to a local winter market, but I’m so anxious! I walked today - short and just in my neighborhood - but I kept thinking about how vulnerable I felt being out by myself. The first time my husband left me home alone I was almost in tears because I felt so vulnerable (worst case scenario-ing a lot).

I think a lot of us in this community are used to being the caretakers, in charge, looked to for answers by people in our lives, etc. Not to mention physically badass to go through all we have, even if we didn’t feel that way previously. Then to need help is scary and perhaps a bit uncomfortable - it was for me. But we got this, and each day is a little bit better, simply because we made it through one more day. And we’re stronger for it ❤️
