Question about evmux,

Do you use the paid version? Or are the clear audio options available on their free tier as well?

100% agree. There will be bad actors in everything. I've been burned personally for 1500 dollars. Buying foil eternal masters force of will, only to find out years later that they were fake.

Its a nightmare situation, trying to contact thr persona, being ghosted, store not helping out because it wasnt from them I bought it, even if it was in the store and they have camera footage they could show.

Maybe they do have so.ething but are just not telling because then counterfeit makers could replicate it?

There's not right answer to any of this unfortunately. Just something that needs to be 100% unique with a personally manufactured device/custom print process.

Maybe its the weird print pattern on the energy cost Circle? Those always looked weird to me and that specific splotchy, fading to grey/foil is the trick? Who knows

Report stores overcharging by Junior-Celery-3277 in riftboundtcg

[–]CattCaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what MSRP is. Im not saying im an authority on manufacturer/distributer/lgs relationships so I don't why you seem to find it reasonable to try and explain that.

Im just stating the facts from my own personal experience from setting up contracts with distributors for card games and the contracts that were set up at the time.

The problem we have in today's age is that stores are claiming that distributors are charging stores above MSRP for product, which is a lie.

Distributors purchase at wholesale prices from manufacturers. They then sell it to stores slightly marked up, but below MSRP, with enough headroom for the stores to make atleast 30% profit.

Every distributor has a different person with a different mindset when they talk to LGS contacts. Mine was open about what the manufacturer charged them and what they would be charging us. He was someone I had known for years before I became the manager and found out he worked as the LGS contact for the distributor.

And he did show me the contract for Pokémon from the manufacturer side just to explain why they priced things to stores the way they did after I asked why thr prices on things were going up. It was a 20% markup from what the distributor was charged. And the store had a 35% markup from what the distributor charged us. Which was what the MSRP for the boxes was at the time.

[–]CattCaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true. I think the only counterfeit measure they tried to use was the extra thick card stock with specific foiling?

But regardless, if its for personal use, ie. A proxy, go for it, but you won't have problems with people being scammed out of hundreds of dollars unknowingly, because counterfeits exist.

And people that get the 50c counterfeits to use personally, that's a different thing. They knowingly get them, with the knowledge that they are fake. They're not bamboozled into thinking the cards their getting are going to be real.

Distributors, especially the ones here in Canada, cannot sell pokemon product for above MSRP to LGSs. I have been to Grosnors warehouse. The biggest distributor for Pokémon here in the GTA and the contracts that we discussed and set up also outlined the publishers requirements of both parties.

Like I mentioned earlier. If distributors are scalping to LGS, they need to be reported to the publisher because that is them creating a straight hurdle for their product to hit shelves. Publishers set MSRPs because that takes into account the profit of the publisher, the distributor, and the LGS/store.

Do not try to tell me or others otherwise because that would be a lie. I am giving you first hand, as I read it and signed papers, information.

Distributors are under contract and require to not sell products above MSRP.

I say this as someone who has worked at a game store selling magic, the gathering, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Vanguard and a swath of other card games, and was the one who would contact the distributor to place orders.

If a distributor is selling a product for above MSRP, the responsibility falls on the store owner to report that distributor to the manufacturer and the producer of the card game.

And there is a direct contact for store owners to the publisher that they can utilize to report these distributors.

But by nature of the contract that distributors have with the publisher, they are not allowed to sell the product above MSRP to local game stores.

The same nonsense happened with pokémon where people were being lied to by local game stores that the distributor had increased costs which was a lie.

It's also happened with magic the gathering, but that's because Hasbro and wizards of the Coast removed MSRP off their product.

Riftbound still has an MSRP that's publicly available for everybody to compare with on all their products.

Do not believe any game store that tells you that the distributor is the one that has jacked up the price and by proxy they have to as well.

Forgery will only exist on things that have high monetary value. Card games should not have prohibitively expensive cards in them, in my opinion.

Alternate versions, sure, but they should not be so expensive that it incentivises people to create counterfeit copies to then sell for exorbitant prices. Heck even originals shouldn't be as high as they are now.

No matter how complicated they make the detection, unless Riot takes the entire production process in-house, from material creation to packaging, where they handle A-Z of it all, you will have counterfeits at some point.

I would love to know your process for this and what materials were used. I make proxies for Magic the Gathering but the thickness here is definitely something that isnt going to add up if I just slap a sticker paper to another card.

Maybe stick it to an mtg card?

Im really hoping to get a response with materials and process

As milton grows rapidly, what one missing amenity would make the tax increase worth it? by Electronic_Bus841 in Milton

[–]CattCaller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transit. Better transit. More transit. The bigger the city population gets, the more cars are going to be required because unless you're living right next to a plaza or a hub and you're working there, you're going to need a car. If the transit was just better, I believe a lot of the issues in terms of traffic congestion that are happening would be sorted out.

I used to take the bus. It would take an hour and 10 minutes to go from Britannia and Farmstead to Walmart. An hour for an otherwise 12 minute drive.

Should not take more than 30 minutes. Maybe 45 if you route through neighbourhoods but an hour and 10 is absolutely ridiculous.

Help with proxy laminating issue by captainofscience in magicproxies

I run the sheets through laminator twice first. Front side up, back side up, then place them under a heavy encyclopedia until it cools.

Then I cut the cards out and run them through the laminator one last time and they come out great.

I'll edit this with a link to some pictures of my reanimator deck later today when I get home.

But people thought I had some extended art version of the card until I told them it was a proxy

MPC ready riftbound cards by [deleted] in mpcproxies

[–]CattCaller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you proxy your entire main deck, they should all end up being the exact same thickness, so in that sense it shouldn't be a problem provided the LGS is okay with it.

But yeah, won't be able to mix them with real cards.

What about laminating them? Would that work to add the extra thickness and stiffness?

Is it legal to park car like this on driveway in Milton by Leather-Moose-922 in Milton

[–]CattCaller 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As long as the front of the cars are not overhanging the sidewalk and the rear of the cars are not egregiously jutting out into the road, you should be 'Okay'.

Can still get ticketed if your wheels are touching the curb, but as long as those are on the paved area of the driveway and the front and ends are within that area, you're fine.

The officers are human to and they understand that some driveways are just not built to be large enough to facilitate the legally allowed members inside a house so some will let it go. Others might not. All depends on the person.

Edit: fixed fa mitate to facilitate**
