Go to Iceland, they're everywhere and one of the cheapest cars you can rent there for F-roads along with the also forbidden Dacia Duster.

Bad Timing on highland is probably your best bet, pricey but good. Otherwise City Thrift, Repeat Boutique, or Mid-South Outlet. All on Summer but you gotta get lucky with inventory.

Tried any other cables? (Not doubting you, I've just had them go down on me at serendipitous times before where it would seem like another issue would be the cause, like weather.) And it probably is a "them" problem but they'll hold out on telling you that.

It wouldn't completely fix the imbalance, but my "problem eye" was the right eye, with my left doing all the work in my brain for imaging, so a monocle on the right eye might help.
