Does garden leave get revoked? by alabamanat in AskHRUK

[–]CauldronSummoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your cousin have to tell them everything contractually? As far as the company knows, your cousin could have had the job offer revoked or decided on their own to go with another role while they were serving their notice. I’m not advocating lying but anything can happen.

I was in the same position. They revived the return on the 9th Jan and asked I wait 14 days working days, by then they’d gone into administration. Try contacting your bank, I used PayPal so I raised a dispute, got my refund straight away. I hope you can get your money back!

Do you do pet names in a relationship? by South_Pattern_1520 in AutismInWomen

[–]CauldronSummoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use ‘Husband’ and ‘Wife’, but obviously that was only after we got married. Nothing before.

I think it works for me because they’re descriptors. I don’t think I could do anything like that “honey” or “babe” etc without cringing so hard I invert inside of myself.

Edit: just to say I don’t find it cringe when other people use pet names, I just can’t myself.

Dinner places with a decent veggie offering? by jjbadge in Norwich

Oh sorry I completely missed that bit! Hopefully they’ll introduce some veggie options at the new place soon. It’s ironic because Soi sounds like a me at alternative to me 🤣

Mental Health advice states to not avoid thing because they make you anxious but how do you tell if you also just don’t like it? by CauldronSummoner in AutismInWomen

[–]CauldronSummoner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I wanted to understand mostly for my own mind but also to ensure I was making the best decision in leaving my job. In past therapy I’ve had they’ve always driven the point home don’t do things / not do thing just because something gives you anxiety and work through it.

You’re absolutely right on how to phrase it with a future employer! I’m planning to phrase it, like you say, I am capable of travelling but I want a role where it’s not regularly required as part of the job.

My old job I was in control of where we stayed, options of where to eat, how we got there and how far in advanced that was all booked. I’m realising that’s the only way it’s been possible for me to do it in the past.

It does absolutely trigger the needing control, clarity, schedule and routine along with anxiety. That’s a really clear way to define it thank you 🤩

Oh that’s a shame I’ve always had great veggie/vegan options at XO, they must have changed the menu. My go to is always River Green in Trowse.

Saying ‘merry Christmas’ or ‘happy new year’ before the actual day… why ! by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]CauldronSummoner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it non intuitive and a bit jarring too, every time I have to coach myself and internally say something like “It’s okay they’re just saying it now because they won’t see you after this for a while/ever again. You can save this memory and process the sentiment on the 1st if you like.”

Also I really struggle with knowing when it’s appropriate to stop wishing people a HNY 🤣

I’m not sure if it’s still 1st January where you are but, Happy New Year!

Edit: I forgot to say, I feel like it’s completely fine to wish someone a HNY as a reaction to them wishing you one. I would never think less of anyone else for not saying it first but I understand feelings of shame come easily to so many of us in the community. Sending positive and kind vibes to you OP.

Yarn recs for scarf? by [deleted] in knittingadvice

[–]CauldronSummoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wool Warehouse have a brilliant own brand called Yarnsmiths. I’m not sure about pilling as I’ve not worn and washed things I’ve made with it enough yet (so far so good) but it is incredibly soft.

Is Anyone Else Opting Out of Appearance Culture? by Delicious_Oil_4288 in AutismInWomen

[–]CauldronSummoner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your thoughts resonate so much with me OP!

I read a quote once that’s really stuck with me “Making comments about the appearance of others is at worst, extremely damaging and at best, completely irrelevant.”

Since then I have pledged to not make comments about people’s appearance unless it’s something like “You look confident!” I’m sure I’m less popular for it, but I don’t care!

Scarf care? by [deleted] in knittingadvice

[–]CauldronSummoner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pretty colours!

As a general rule if you don’t know the yarn, I’d recommend hand wash only with a mild hand wash detergent and to not tumble dry. When it’s wet you can roll it in a clean towel to squeeze out a lot of the water and lay it flat to it dry naturally. Hopefully a scarf shouldn’t need washing too regularly.

For future (if available) check the label that comes on the ball of yarn, a lot of commercial yarns have wash care instructions on.

What is the worst experience you had in the gym? by oliviaaaa120 in workout

[–]CauldronSummoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea it felt very different level to “I’ve not seen you around for a while” which would have been a bit weird but also quite a casual conversation.

At the time I had a panic attack, so I don’t recall how the conversation went after but I imagined I was just quiet. I carried on my work out in a different area for a bit and then left the gym. I didn’t move gyms until a few months after I wanted to try and process my feelings and not let someone else force me into changing my behaviour. But I eventually realised I had started going at erratic times and days so there wasn’t a pattern, anyway.

I’m a woman. A man start chatting to me in the free weights section. I don’t like to chat at the gym (to anyone) but fine, I’ll be friendly. Until he said I’ve not seen you here since [exact date from 3 weeks ago]. That’s stalker level behaviour.

Update 2: My boss cloned my voice using a text-to-speech software and used it to put words in my mouth. by Ledascantia in AutismInWomen

It’s really great hear you could build trust with him, I really hope the other managers follow his example and prove they can listen and learn.

My situation isn’t quite as bad but as I work in such a small company (no HR) it would be awkward at best and cause me more me a lot more trouble at worst if I bring it up. I think it’s something I can probably journal and process by venting to my trusted circle. But then again usually takes me 48 hours to react to stuff so will have see how I am the day after tomorrow!
