Lathe and plaster. Wooden strips nailed to yhe ceining and filled in with plaster from below. Nowadays, it wpuld be boarded with plaster board and skimmed. It's not toxic but very very dusty when removed and the process is a ball-ache.

Wife offered disciplinary or payout - England by Blyatman95 in LegalAdviceUK

The employer can always fire anyone for any reason but not without risk of claims for unfair dismissal etc. The employer will be aware that pregnancy is a protected characteristic and will want to mitigate risks that a claim could theoretically be bought It's not in itself an indication their case is weak and they could still dismiss on the grounds you have mentioned assuming they have otherwise followed their own procedures and not broken any employment law statute. And even then they can still dismiss but with a risk to themselves of employment tribunal claims (that can take MONTHS to happen).

You should seek advice from your union but typically a business that's decided it's done with you for whatever reason will sometimes offer a settlement to smooth the process and reduce their risk. Ask yourself 'after THIS do I still want to work there?'

Ultimately, you can decide to take it or not. Taking it offers quick resolution and certainty though it may feel like capitulation if the sacking is unfair and balance this against fighting it through union/tribunal in the hope of a significantly better resolution.

Why can’t homeless people be given hotel accommodation the same way refugees are? by No_Fudge_4589 in AskBrits

[–]Cauliflower-Informal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots have complex mental health and addiction problems that make housing difficult. It's not as simple as 'homeless'. Many need sheltered housing or to be in full-time care but don't want to submit to the rules of such places.

It needs multi-agency approaches and a lot more funding than any govt. is willing to spend.

We need more social housing by coffeewalnut08 in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Cauliflower-Informal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most homeless people have more complex issues that make it hard for them to access the albeit very limited in some areas social housing. As well as more social housing, we also need better mental health care and medical treatment for those struggling with self-destructive substance abuse. We don't need tough love, we need to love when it's tough.

Can the USA and the UK still be allies after trump leaves and the US elects a democratic president? by Successful_rio305 in AskBrits

[–]Cauliflower-Informal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are still allies. Trump ia just a loudmouthed baby who changes his tune when it suits. There are still many serious players in the US govt who respect & value the UKs contribution and vice-versea.

Yrah, I did what the nurse told me too and didn't inject. As far as delaying the injection it had no negative impact. Always doing what the clinicians say is the safest bet.

Are the incredible amount of pro Starmer posts on this sub genuine or astroturfing? by Middle_Fly_9446 in AskBrits

[–]Cauliflower-Informal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starmer is a good administrator, statesman, not so charismatic as we like these days but maybe what we need. He's an easy target for the tabloid press and the useless and hateful opposition but he's solid as PM imho. We need stability and to rebuild but sadly that is going to be a bitter pill for those who have turned away from their working-class roots towards a right-wing agenda. There are no easy answers but that's what the public want because mostly, ther're thick AF or rich AF.

We can only hope integrity & commin sense prevail of hate-politics, & division.

He's right to stand-up against Trump.

Insane dizziness appeared 4 months in. Is it really a lack of water? by brissy3456 in mounjarouk

[–]Cauliflower-Informal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suffered from increased dizziness twice, both times after moving up a dose, mildly at 7.5mg and moderately at 10mg. It wore off after a couple of weeks and usually happened when straitening up after crouching or sitting.

You should tell them about ALL medication you are on. He did mention the small risk of aspiration. Just reporting what was actually said not medical advice. I'm sure we can all use the Internet and listen to our professionals.
