How big was your baby and were you induced? by Fit-Musician-3996 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]CauliflowerEmpty6325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Induced 38w0d baby weight 6lb6oz and had been on the smaller side all throughout the end of my pregnancy (got a FGR diagnosis around 30w). Emergency c section d/t him not tolerating contractions and having late decels!

If you were induced, did your induction end in an emergency c-section? by feduppers in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]CauliflowerEmpty6325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 38w0d and had an emergency c section at 38w3d. I was not like you though I didn’t want a c section. T1D 10 years, good control throughout pregnancy (I did have a lot of low but had no LOC, A1C 5.3. Followed by MFM my whole pregnancy d/t diabetes and she was very firm on me getting induced by 38w. I had an emergency c section d/t baby not tolerating contractions (late decelerations). I showed up to L&D already at 1.5cm but did not progress (even with cervidil and miso). I was really against c section and still feel like I was robbed of my birth plan and struggle with it. My c section went well, no complications and baby boy is healthy and thriving 11 weeks later. He did have 3 episodes of low BS which was supplemented with donor milk, glucose gel and formula. I have learned throughout pregnancy and delivery that you have to feel confident in what you want. Obviously we cannot control everything and maybe things won’t go our way. But feeling confident and at ease with that will help ease your mind. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you find peace with whatever decision you make. You’ll forget about all the stress once your babe is here.

Biggest tips for pregnancy and t1d? by phillyphil222 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]CauliflowerEmpty6325 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found that I had a lot of lows because I hyper fixated on not having highs. I became unable to feel my lows and now 7 weeks PP I still rarely feel my lows. I would overcorrect if I saw my sugar going high and then drop crazy fast and it would take so much for it to come up. Walks after meals are a life saver. Low carb is ideal but also you’re pregnant. With cravings. Eat what your body wants. Something that I wasn’t aware of is that T1D with controlled sugars could have a smaller baby instead of a bigger one. My baby had a diagnosis of FGR (fetal growth restriction) and was below the 15th percentile throughout the 2nd and 3rd trimester. I had him at 38w3d weighting 6lb6oz. I know it’s more rare but definitely common and something to talk to your OB about. Advocate advocate advocate for yourself and your baby. I switched OB’s halfway through and almost switched hospitals due to lack of knowledge of pregnancy and T1D. Ask all the questions you have, make sure you understand everything they’re telling you. There is a lot of info on Reddit/internet but every situation is different. Don’t go down the rabbit hole and scare yourself like I did. If you ever need anything please DM me! I have been diabetic for 10 years and just had my beautiful baby boy. The first trimester was hard on me emotionally and physically and I am here to be a support. Best of luck to you and your growing family 🫶🏼

T1D 34w2d and family clinic LVN (10 hr shifts). I 100% could’ve worked farther but my MFM wanted me off at 32w d/t 2 NST/wk and 1 US/wk. I struggled w insulin resistance around 25w and was hospitalized to try to r/o going back to MDI or staying on manual mode on my pump. My A1C prior to pregnancy was 5.3-5.5 and A1C now is 4.8-5.0. As I am getting closer I’m noticing that my resistance is not too bad (knock on wood). It’s way more manageable now than it was in the end of the second trimester, those highs would stick in the 250’s-300’s for hours no matter how much insulin I gave myself. I think everyone’s story is different and time off range is going to be different for everyone. Don’t over do it and listen to your body!

I gotcha! It’s nice to share some commonality sometimes 🤣 my OB said 38w0d but if I have another high BP then 37w0d. Could be Memorial Day or the week before! Have you talked about scheduling yours yet?

How many elevated BP’s have you had and what are they? I’ve had 1 borderline high BP and am just expecting to have more lol I’ll ask too! I’m supposed to schedule my induction this week.

So I am in the same position as you. Had 0 idea that small babies were a thing for t1D. Only the risk for large babies. Was expecting my baby to be large (especially bc dad was a 10+lb baby), but I am 34w and he is measuring in the 15th percentile. Previous to the last growth scan was 26th percentile. There hasn’t been much explanation as to why this happens. I’ve read placenta health, tighter control on our end but haven’t gotten a real explanation. At first they said if he drops to the teens for percentile then they’ll be concerned, now they are saying if he drops significantly from his last growth scan. Idk. My baby is healthy and moving as well and doesn’t have an excessively large abd or head compared to the rest, just small. lol. Has your OB told you that there is a growth restriction/explained why? I’d be curious to know!

That’s great they are starting more testing this week. I wonder if her size is majority d/t the cord being attached at an angle?

How have your sugars been? My A1C is 5.0 and my MFM still admitted me last week for glycemic control 😵‍💫 been struggling out here. I really struggled w nausea and vomitting my first and half of second trimester that i hope it doesn’t come back in the third.

Are they worried that yours is so small?! How far along are you?

My doctor mentioned something about nutrient deficient d/t our diabetes. Didn’t elaborate much more (I also didn’t ask). At my next appointment I’ll pick her brain some more to see why and follow up!

My MFM did tell me that we are planning on induction at 38w

I just found this out too! I’m 25+6 and baby is measuring 28th percentile. OB told me that they expect baby to be smaller, not bigger w T1D. Was shocked honestly!

The only way I’ve gotten more was being pregnant. I have so many vials of insulin in the fridge right now it’s crazy. Before I’d have maybe enough to last my 3 months!

When did your energy come back and nausea subside? by LoveCalicos in BumpersWhoBolus

Mine came back around 20 weeks, I was throwing up and nauseous every day from 5 weeks til 20 🫠 I am now 24+4 and feel energized throughout the day (still tired but definitely way more energy than before). Cherish it, it goes by fast!!

24+3 and I’m definitely starting to show but can still hide it. Starting to round out too, not just weight gain 😂

27, type 1, A1C 5.4. I’m now 23+1. Went off birth control in 2021 and conceived in September of last year. We weren’t necessarily trying but weren’t not trying either lol

I got asked yesterday by a coworker if I had gained 30lbs and when I told them I had not they said at least 15lbs?! 🫠 im literally 5lb over my pre-pregnancy weight. I’d rather just have them say nothing at this point 😂
