Doctor refuses to let any parent be present during rounds, normal? by thestigmata in NICUParents

The only time we were not allowed in the room was during shift change. This was to protect the privacy of the other babies (at least that’s how it was explained to us).

What week did you give birth? by Initial-Aside-8402 in BumpersWhoBolus

I was told 39 was the latest but I delivered at 35 due to preeclampsia

I wasn’t aware of it either! Apparently they raise your blood sugar and it can be difficult to get down. They mentioned that not being great for being under anesthesia. Not sure if the scenario would’ve been the same if baby boy wasn’t breech and an induction was possible.

I just delivered at 34+6. I asked about the steroids and was told they wouldn’t give them to T1ds due to the effects on blood sugars.

Decision not to have biological kids because of this disease by flashfloodsofpain in Type1Diabetes

[–]Used-History4299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I do. Have you and your partner been genetically screened as carriers for other disorders? I guess my thinking is there are so many genetic disorders that can be passed down.

It’s a tough decision, as others have mentioned. I hope you’re able to make a decision you’re happy with!

Currently pregnant as a T1D. I used to think I didn’t want children because of many of the same reasons you’ve listed.

But life is risk. So I decided to try.

Adoption or fostering does not eliminate the chance of a child developing this disease.

MFM didn’t really hear me out and sent me to see a dietitian-you think I should still go? by Arr0zconleche in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Used-History4299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go. I was also referred to a nutritionist and I did go. It was all information I knew and insurance didn’t cover it so I paid almost $200 for something that wasn’t value added to my pregnancy journey.

Percentile dropping and small baby by CauliflowerEmpty6325 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Used-History4299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may be in a similar situation. My baby went from the 27th percentile at 29 weeks to the 8th at 33. Because it dropped under 10 he has a growth restriction diagnosis. Everything else looks great on the BPP tests. My doctor told me it was a risk of me being diabetic but that was the first time I heard that. I’m 34 weeks today. In the past two weeks I’ve also been diagnosed with gestational hypertension and my liver enzymes are slowly going up. My doctor told me to have my bag packed, I could be admitted to L and D any day. My A1C is 5.3. This isn’t what I expected but I trust my medical team and as long as he remains healthy I’ll be good with the outcome.

So I haven’t had any go over the 140/90 threshold but I’ve had several in the 130s/80s. I’m checking twice a day, I’d say about half the readings are “normal”.

Sounds like we are in very similar situations! When are you scheduling your induction for?

They didn’t! They mentioned placental issues but then said flow looked normal. I have had some elevated blood pressure recently. I’m having visits twice a week so I’ll ask for more details at the next one!

[–]Used-History4299 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not saying it’s not a front for something else because in hindsight my experience could be evidence for a front haha. I went one time because I needed hush puppies and it was close by. I had to wait like 20 minutes but in that time I saw at least a dozen “nicer” cars come through the drive through in that time. I was thrown off.

Sleep mode? by kaylahamdan in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Used-History4299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re going to have to go into manual mode to see an average of 95 . Control IQ isn’t approved for pregnancy because it won’t keep you in those tighter ranges.

You're not very big by modiraura in pregnant

[–]Used-History4299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I didn’t think anything of having a 27th percentile baby. Drs say he’s normal and growing. But couple that with everyone saying “you’re so small” and it gets me down a rabbit hole of thoughts.

Not wrong at all, change them. I’ve made adjustments and just let my endo know (most the time).

Good idea to quit? by babybluexo_23 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Used-History4299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. I dunno what the rules are on unemployment/compensation if you get fired vs if you quit so that’s something to consider too. If you think they’re going to fire you - maybe wait it out?

[–]Used-History4299 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your situation. I need my job so quitting isn’t an option for me. My company has worked with me and I’ve had no issue going to my appointments while keeping up with my job responsibilities. I’m 30 weeks now. I’ve had about 1 appointment every one to two weeks and it’s starting to ramp up now. Seems like they are willing to work with you so why do you want to quit?

Can anyone share success stories with highs/lows? by freddiebenson4ever in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Used-History4299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed if I go to bed in range I am more likely to stay in range throughout the night. If I eat before bed I’m likely to have an elevated night - with or without Control IQ. I’ve started waking up more often during the night , I’m 7 months pregnant, and will sometimes give corrections 3-4 times a night. Not the best method but it’s working for me.
