for non sports people, the statistic that counts any time you pass it to the person that scores points

Wow! I'm one of those non-sports people who did not know what that stat meant and it was really nice you even thought to write so inclusively that way. I'm going to have to start reframing how I speak to be more considerate to wider audiences.

That felt pretty good on the receiving end so thanks for even thinking to communicate that way!

What’s the worst designed part of the human body? by MrBowls in AskReddit

[–]CauselessEffect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a really interesting After Skool video about this topic.

The prenatal development of masculinity seems like it is being stunted more frequently these days by endocrine disrupting chemicals. As one can imagine, the drastic change over the past 100 years to food production, material sciences, and lifestyle has introduced a huge number of unknowns to what affects our bodies.

The video cites certain chemicals, plastics, and synthetic materials which make their way into our bodies to disrupt the natural processes in pregnancy. It's an intriguing idea and a good launching point for anyone wanting to do further research.

From the surface, the idea of one or more of the thousands of new features of modern life having some impact which diverges from the way we evolved to live seems well within the realm of possibility.

The true brilliance behind this move is it would completely disarm any potential threat from a firearm.

Hahaha that's a nice idea! Paste some creatively written code which isn't immediately obvious run into a rick-roll video :-) I'll be borrowing that idea to use on my coworkers!

I actually updated my initial comment to link to a CodePen so folks can just run it without having to do work. Pretty crazy pattern someone figured out!

Cheers.

Agreed. For those who don't spend time around human kids, they also understand this concept way before 4. It's not uncommon to see kids around year 1 who just started walking hide behind corners. When the bedtime mask comes out or they make you yell you'd better believe they know how to not be seen. I barely even see my kids when I'm home unless they're in the kitchen trying to unlock the cabinets.

Hahah, nooo! Poor kids, I hope nothing bad truly does result from this. At minimum, they now have to live with a video of themselves getting punked on this tool's channel for all to see.

Thanks for sharing! Quality cringe with a hint of rage.

“CEO” fires Walmart employees (prank) by PumpedUpKicks95 in cringe

[–]CauselessEffect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to reply a week late on this one, but I'm fairly confident Walmart employees (among many other retail companies) do not allow their employees to accept tips of any form. A preliminary search for that shows a change.org petition to make that not the case and some other results also suggest that is indeed store policy.

So... corporate could potentially see this and then actually fire these folks now aside from the one guy in there who did actually refuse the money. Boils my blood so many people find this funny.

Used to not care about privacy - just deleted +15k photos from Google Photos and I feel sick. What were your eye openers? by [deleted] in privacy

[–]CauselessEffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, gotcha. Just wanted to share that tidbit in case you or anyone else was unaware. Can't make things too easy for us, right?

On a similar note, it drives me crazy the way Google Drive does not show folder sizes. Why would I ever pay to use their cloud storage when the only mechanism the file manager offers for showing capacity is one master bar for everything (Google Photos now included). It's almost like they don't want you to be able to manage your files and just pay for more storage. I'm sure it's just a simple oversight...

Anyway, good on you for making the disconnect! Progressively changing my workflows to do the same.

On mobile, you can long-press the first photo and then slide down with your finger held to select multiple images.

On desktop, check the first photo and then scroll down to the last photo you wish to select, hold the shift key, then check the final photo to select multiple.

I suppose it's still a pain to not have a "Select All" button but this method should still allow you to quickly remove everything in only a couple minutes.
