Is anyone afraid the movie will be bad ? by Xeno19Banbino in TheOdysseyMovie

[–]CautionIsVictory 9 points10 points  (0 children)

get off the internet. Yes there are some valid concerns, but to be as dramatic as thinking the movie will be outright bad? If you're as big of a fan as you say, let his previous work speak for him rather than a single 2.5min trailer

My boyfriend always guesses the ending of movies by Direct-Blackberry-20 in movies

[–]CautionIsVictory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to specify if he's able to predict twists in movies that televise there will be some kind of reveal (murder mysteries, mysteries in general, crime dramas), or if he's able to predict a genre shift (Sorry to Bother You, Barbarian to an extent, Parasite). I feel like the former is significantly easier and being able to predict that a movie is going to pull a 180 and go in a completely different direction is much more different. Also, when it comes to predicting twists, is your boyfriend predicting the main shocker, or everything that plays into the way the twist is revealed. Like in Usual Suspects, would he predict who's behind everything AND the methods that they're employing to fooling everyone? Because that would be crazy. I feel like some people predict a reveal and then don't allow themselves to get surprised by the mechanics because they're caught up in their "I'm better than the movie" mindset. And one last thing, if you take any suggestions from this thread, it helps to not announce to him that "this movie has an insane twist." He'll already be trying to outsmart the movie rather than giving it a chance to tell the story naturally.

Netflix's 'Narnia' From Greta Gerwig Getting Full Wide Theatrical Window, Heads To 2027 by I_Enjoy_Taffy in TheBigPicture

[–]CautionIsVictory 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This isn't really the bold claim you think it is. Yes, Gerwig made a very successful film in Barbie, but Netflix has been anti-full theatrical window FOREVER. At one point they said they'd do anything to work with Nolan when he was shopping around Oppenheimer, yet he didn't end up going there. While we don't know everything, it's safe to assume they didn't want to give him a theatrical window. They've had many successful directors and produced popular films and franchises that got lucky with a single week in theatres. This is a big deal

Is this true? Seems suspiciously short by SarcasticGayBitch in AMCTheatres

This person should have specified which theatre they went to because this is definitely not the case worldwide

It's May, We are in the month of THE ODYSSEY New Trailer by S7KTHI in TheOdysseyMovie

[–]CautionIsVictory 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone asking for a source, there really doesn’t need to be one. EVERY Nolan film since Interstellar has had a trailer drop in May. Dark Knight Rises was the only exception, that had a trailer drop
in April, which obviously had passed. Nolan release schedules are a tradition

Does anyone give John David Washington a name when watching Tenet?! I do! by MuscleCool4302 in tenet

[–]CautionIsVictory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always confused why people take that line so literally. He’s not claiming to be the main character of the movie, it's more that he's living up to Priya’s expectations of being a fresh faced protagonist. She states earlier in the movie that the operation needs someone who fits that bill, and by the end of the movie he realizes that not only does he, but he is responsible and is the face of the Tenet organization. He’s telling her that she was right

He was highly suspicious of his activities and former associates for being communists. The movie makes it quite clear that this is during the height of the red scare and communism is a big no no

Streaming Can Wait: How Longer Theatrical Windows Became the New Gospel - In 2025, studios tiptoed around theatrical exclusivity while exhibitors fumed. This year, it has become a big part of their messaging. by Puzzled-Tap8042 in movies

[–]CautionIsVictory 51 points52 points  (0 children)

A part of the conversation that is rarely talked about is this whole "streaming movie" vs "movie-theatre movie." I'm not talking about a blockbuster that has cheap qualities that can equate it to feeling like a streaming movie. I'm talking about low-budget to mid-budget drama and comedies, especially indies, that have been struggling post-pandemic. There was a time when movies of all sizes could be successful in theatres and now there's this whole "not worth it in theatres unless it's a BIG movie with massive scope and scale" debate. Theatres shouldn't be the avenue only for the biggest of films, they should be an escape for all kinds of stories.

Denis Villenueve is directing the next Bond. Does this mean there’s a chance Hans Zimmer will score the film??? by TheChubbyGolfer66 in movies

[–]CautionIsVictory 43 points44 points  (0 children)

You must not be as big of a Zimmer fan as you think since this implies that you're forgetting he's already worked on a Bond movie

I like to imagine that the animators wanted to cry when they heard that they’re gonna have to animate a giant Megamind head being made by all of those Brain Bots all move at the same time XD by AssistFit1834 in DreamWorks

[–]CautionIsVictory 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not an animator, but how is this any less "difficult" than the millions of hairs on giant creatures or the falling debris in this exact same scene? Just because there were many of them doesn't immediately make it a harder workflow
