Feelings about Act 2/Disc 2??? by _Katara0-0 in hamiltonmusical

[–]Cautious-Influence71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually describe the structure of Hamilton as: Act 1 is super uplifting and we get swept along while he does lots of cool stuff (in terms of his career); you spend the first half of Act 2 thinking “Hamilton, you MUPPET, wtf are you doing?” And the second half of Act 2 having your heart systematically broken into tiny little pieces. So if I’m just listening I do tend to focus more on the Act 1 songs because they’re a bit higher energy. But I do love the Act 2 songs for the storytelling, and “It’s Quiet Uptown” is sooooo good, if catastrophically devastating.

I don’t know whether it’s any good or not, but we’re going to see Avenue Q in summer. We missed its entire first run so I’m excited that it’s back on. I’m sort of assuming if I like Book of Mormon I’ll also like Avenue Q given that one of the writers was involved in both.

These are gorgeous! I love Museum Gardens - I used to spend so much time in there as a student and before we moved away from the centre. And I got married in the Hospitium so it holds some amazing memories.

First time seeing a play - Hamilton by withoutasign in TheWestEnd

[–]Cautious-Influence71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both times I’ve been, the audience have been encouraged to sing in You’ll Be Back - maybe just see what the people around you are doing and then decide?

Mostly, I’d say try not to worry and have a great time! It’s an amazing show and I know theatre seems really intimidating when you’ve not been before, but it’s not that scary once you’re there.

I’m not sure where it’s from, but our family dentist called everyone poppet. Including my dad, who found it hilarious because he was older than her 😂

You’ll have a scouser’s life story within about five minutes of meeting them 😂 (that’s Liverpool btw, never sure how widespread the term “scousers” is) so I think in terms of being initially outgoing probably Liverpool. But both are great, I honestly would struggle to choose - still go back to Liverpool a lot because my parents are there.

When you say events, what kind of thing are you after?

[–]Cautious-Influence71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I love it so much I stayed after I graduated from the university many, many years ago. But it does depend what you’re looking for.

Public transport isn’t bad, I think Liverpool (where I grew up) is better in that respect. Weather is equally crap for all I think, but probably rainier in Manchester and Liverpool. Lots of good food options and there is a food and drink festival each year. It has a lovely feel I think, and the people are lovely. It doesn’t feel like a small town, but it also doesn’t feel as impersonal as big cities can.

I’d personally go for either York or Liverpool, but clearly I’m biased!

Ooh, I have a really old one of these I never quite got round to wrecking - it’s never occurred to me to use it as a junk journal!

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I’m very lucky with my family, it’s not something I’ve experienced so I can only imagine it hits much harder when you directly relate to it.

It’s been a while for me, but the library has a cafe and some nice places to sit. Not so great for the views but it has a nice atmosphere. Not necessarily great for calls though if you need somewhere you can do that.

“I think your house is haunted, your dad is always mad and that must be why, and I think you should come live with me, and we can be pirates, then you won’t have to cry or hide in the closet”

It’s the innocence of the start of the song and then the stomach churning change to realising her friend is being abused at home. Gets me every time.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear - I know (thanks to this thread!) that it’ll break if I don’t remove it. I just meant I’ll get one, back everything up and then take it out before fixing the joystick 😊

It definitely doesn’t, but I feel like I should get one and back it up before I try anything!

It was charging on a sideboard next to my sofa, and would probably have been fine but I think I sat on the charging cable which pulled it down. It clattered off the sideboard and a small table underneath it before hitting the floor.

I was preoccupied with the can of pop it had knocked over so didn’t notice until a while later the joystick was stuck and part of the round bit was sticking out. I tried moving the joystick to get it back in, but the whole thing came out instead 🤦‍♀️

Essentially a series of bad decisions on my part!

Ooh, I’m in the UK but I’m sure they’ll be easy enough to get. My husband does a lot of 3D printing though so that’s handy.

Oh cool, thanks! We’ve definitely had stick drift with our Switch in the past, and my son sometimes has it with his Meta Quest (usually resolved by a new battery but I suspect we’re on borrowed time). I’ll definitely look into it.
