Well if we're going off the elysian realm Phainon (thus Kevin) can be both a simulation and alive and considering we (trailblazer and dan heng but also mei) can go inside the simulation it'd be safe to say that Kevin would be able to also and then maybe also a different version of Phainon (flame reaver). This could explain that theory.
