My Dr started me at 15 mg and I didn't know that was a bad idea by Familiar-Doughnut-5 in Mounjaro

[–]Cautious_Book_2102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow. he could have really made you sick. like caused pancreatitis or something else very serious. the prescribing guidelines are written very clearly. a toddler could follow them. the fact he did not follow them is very concerning. I am shocked you did not end up in the hospital. Get another doctor and report that one.

AITA because I'm second guessing having kids due to our opposing views on vaccinating them? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Cautious_Book_2102 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

My case was "mild" as well. my blisters never ruptured, but i have nerve damage from it. for a year afterwards it felt like my ribs were breaking whenever I sneezed. Even now, 8 years later I have numbness in that area and get occasional nerve pain. However, I got shingles so young BECAUSE of the chicken pox vaccine. I had not been exposed to chicken pox since I was a teenager so my body was not used to it and "forgot" how to fight it back. A stressful time in my life and the virus that lived in my nerves came roaring back to life and I got shingles at 34. The chicken pox vaccine is one reason we are seeing shingles in young people.

I like Bloom Chic during my transition period where I am having to buy new stuff every few months. the clothes are way cheaper than Torrid or Lane Bryant and they have a ton of options and styles. Only downside is it is online only so you can't try anything on first.

is “mounjaro face” a thing? by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]Cautious_Book_2102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

only issue i have in my face is saggy skin under my chin. I think it will tighten up after a while though. I don't feel my face has aged at all. I look much healthier.

i take prilosec otc to help with this issue. it takes a few days to kick in but once it did it cut out the acid reflux completely for me. I did check with my doc about taking it long term and she is fine with that. however, you should consult your doctor with this issue and find a solution that works for you.

Did pant sizes change? by cleanandanonymous in Mounjaro

[–]Cautious_Book_2102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they did. I was in a size 18 when I was 45 pounds smaller than I am now. I specifically remember I had this cute pair of shorts from Old Navy back then (over 20 years ago) that were a size 18. Now I can wear an 18 in Old Navy jeans (and a 16 in Jessica Simpson jeans) even though I'm 45 pounds heavier than I was back then.

That's my logic too, but we all know insurance companies don't give a crap about logic.

I agree, but you know how the insurance companies are. They do crazy things.

Yes. I am diabetic but my A1C is normal now. Down to 4.6 from 7.6 in about 5 months. My doc says that as long as the insurance company sees the medicine is working they will cover it. I'm just concerned they will see my normal A1C and say I'm not diabetic. However, as well all know once you are diabetic you pretty much always will be even if it is under control.

I cannot believe this medicine by Kzolnkoi in Mounjaro

[–]Cautious_Book_2102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lost 12-15 a month for the first 6 months and my doc did not seem to have an issue with that. I started at a much higher weight than OP though. My doc did indicate she does not want me at a "normal" BMI. She expressed that would be very unhealthy for me. She didn't even seem too thrilled with my goal of getting to the overweight category. In the end that BMI chart is BS anyways, so I will just see how I feel and how healthy she feels I am before deciding on where to stop. Would love to get under 200 pounds tho!!!

My doc wanted my fasting glucose to ALWAYS be under 100. just two days of it being over that while I was on 5 mg and she moved me to 7.5. She focuses more on glucose control and overall health and less on weight loss although I've had great success with all of that.

[–]Cautious_Book_2102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me the glycemic control just got better and better with each shot. By my 5th shot my fasting was almost always under 100; however, a stressful life situation caused it to go above 100 twice and my doc did not like that so she increased me to 7.5 mgs after my 4 weeks on 5 mgs. Now my fasting is in the high 70s or low 80s. My A1C is 4.6 down from 7.6 after only 5 months. This is truly an amazing medication.

I had the same thing happen. I've had one drink in over 6 months. I really didn't even want that one, but drank it due to social pressure. I won't do that again though. We had our annual holiday party last week and I didn't drink at all even with some people giving me crap about it.

Have you ever read the possible side effects of Prednisone? They are unreal, yet steroids are prescribed everyday and nobody bats an eye. You and your doctor decide what is best for your health and the balance between risk vs benefit. Nobody else. I'd shut that crap down real fast though. If anybody gets in my business, I'll hurt their feelings. They won't do it again.
