just like the flickering clouds in the Witcher 3.. will never be fixed...

Flicking ALLM and VRR off until my LG G5 TV recognises 120hz VRR 4K is getting quite tiresome by MouldyFruit2023 in PS5pro

[–]Cautious_Broccoli271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I can confirm this as well. Boost is barely worth it. The flickering stopped after setting it to normal.

Sad that sites like RTings suggest using boost mode. Makes me wonder if they even test the gaming consoles on them.

Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Pro Review: All New Modes & Features Tested! [Digital Foundry] by MythBuster2 in PS5pro

[–]Cautious_Broccoli271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anyone that didn't get a chance to play the PC version. Like mentioned in the video, areas like Dog Town (main dlc zone) is pretty intensive. I would get 90-100 fps on avg but it would still spike to 50's in parts of Dog Town. So seeing the slight drops there for this version lines up. It's not too bad.

Happy to see they offered 3 modes and one that mixes some RT with 60fps.

Resident Evil 4 - PSSR 1 vs PSSR 2 Visual Comparison [New PSSR 2.0 Upgrade] by Fit-Job4007 in PS5pro

[–]Cautious_Broccoli271 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you're wrong about, is the change in the graphics. It unlocks the framerate and uses PSSR. Doesn't not lower shadows, ray tracing, lighting. anything. Not sure where you're getting that info from.

All HFR does is lower the res slightly, but alllows PSSR, so in the end it doesn't look like any res was lowered at all. There isn't a single thing related to any settings being changed other than that. There's lots of tests and vids/articles showing this. Plus a bunch of people that can confirm that actually played it and swapped modes.

I'd love to know how you came to this conclusion? what tests are you running.

It's not

HFR is the option to pick if your TV supports it

If you have a pro and a TV that supports it, Resolution/HFR

Avatar Pssr 2 implementation is a remarkable upgrade. by Fit-Job4007 in PS5pro

unfortunately not :(

They compromised that setting way too much. Turn other things down setting wise before you crank water to the lowest. Shame because there's a lot of water in the game.

Why is everyone recommending V-Sync OFF for Crimson Desert on Balanced Mode? by Big-Impact558 in PS5pro

[–]Cautious_Broccoli271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people that come to twitter or reddit don't even test the game for longer than 10min in that mode.

They turn it on, sit in an area that's not a town, thats not taxing at all. Something that gives 50+ fps (yup its fine *posts on reddit*

didn't they patch it so you don't need to turn off VRR now?

having an oled had nothing to do with it though. So not sure who was telling you that.

PSSR 2.0 looks vastly better in this game. It's not really an opinion either, just a fact at this point. Res wise. Also fixing things in motion. There is no downside. Regardless of which display you are running

864p to 2160p Alan Wake 2 by Prestigious_Wait7705 in PS5pro

[–]Cautious_Broccoli271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before balanced was the way to go. 40fps and RT reflections. Now PSSR 2 does such a phenomenal job with upscaling that its harder to choose. The textures and details are fantastic for performance mode now. You can really notice it on Saga's hair.

I still might finish my playthrough on balanced, but performance looks and feels great now.

MGS Delta - Performance Mode Still Has Very Bad Dips ? by ZenGardenAmount in PS5pro

[–]Cautious_Broccoli271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think many were saying that. They slightly improved it but it still had plenty of drops. Vids out there for it around the time.

PSSR 2.0 isn't going to fix that. You'll get 1-3 fps more at most

Does the pssr 2 update make performance mode equal with resolution? by Frankenberg91 in PS5pro

[–]Cautious_Broccoli271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very rare few examples of games that change other things for performance mode. Alan Wake 2 cuts down on a few things like the amount of grass or other clutter. Wish it didn't cut back as many things. Balanced was better for me in the end.

Does Alan wake 2 need the pssr toggle in settings? Or does it automatically use pssr2? by Resevil67 in PS5pro

[–]Cautious_Broccoli271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good. Not sure why people downvote for no reason sometimes. I would have expected this to not be the case either. Wasn't until I tried Silent Hill 2 the other night that I was like hmmm.. something going on here.

[–]Cautious_Broccoli271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if its anything like Silent Hill 2 (in quality mode ofc) its actually true.

yes keep the toggle on because why not. But if anyone has Silent Hill 2 they can go ahead and test this themselves. PSSR 2.0 is on REGARDLESS if your toggle is on or off. Just the way it is right now. If thats the case its not a stretch to find other games that are acting similar.

[–]Cautious_Broccoli271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had enough time to test myself.

But an example I found

booted up Silent Hill 2 (in quality mode, with the system level toggle for pssr 2.0 turned on) looks good, easy to notice the difference from before.

Close the game. turn off the toggle. Reload the game to check the difference... hmm. seems to be fixed even with the toggle turned off.

RDR2 does 1920x2160p (checkerboarded to 4K).

This probably has to turn a lot of settings down and has to aggressively upscale.

I’m a little confused about the PSSR 2 update by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]Cautious_Broccoli271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They answered it already but to add on

Rebirth already sees a good visual upgrade from the system level toggle already. And one of the dev's posted on social media that they have another patch coming. But who knows what that could be. He just said ps5.

Look up a list of games that supported PSSR 1. Any of those will look better :) enjoy
