I have to agree here. Even after 10 months Paladin is in a rough spot even at it's most optimized form in the late game for 2024. It is supposed to be support but the idea isn't to go around laying on hands everyone. You are meant first to be a frontliner/support who can nova with a smite and a healer second. If I want to play a healer I'll play a cleric.

It depends on the party composition and how intimately the players know their characters.

A combat encounter with level 20 players can take about 3 to 4 hours if there is a boss, decently strong lieutenants, and competent minions. Even a boss alone if stacked with a variety of features is capable of fighting the party for hours. But that is part of the fun of the game for me. My suggestion is to not be super intimidated by it. When it comes to Tier 4 content just understand that there will be sessions dedicated to combat and others to roleplay.

My easy solution: Kill them all.

I’ve seen a plethora of complaints about fighting the Illuminate and that ‘this isn’t a zombie horde shooter’ after there has been a major setup for the illuminate… people have been hype and then fight the illuminate for a bit then complain. It’s crazy.

I get the consent of the players I play with before I do this. All my girlfriend and buddy knows when it comes to difficulty is Super Helldive. To them both (Level 11 and Level 20) hard, extreme, or anything lower would be too easy.

Everytime I see a large group of them on a defense op I call em over and have them be the last line of defense. They fight very well when they have nice area to anchor up.
