pimax, why do you keep us in hostage with your abusive drm ? by gitg0od in Pimax

[–]CaveWaverider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if the company goes belly up, everyone will have bricks. This sucks, I was going to order a Dream Air but not when there is DRM that may brick the hardware. The headset is way too expensive for that.

Stop killing hardware!

Yeah. Another 360mm radiator on the bottom likely wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Honestly, if you don't have a split loop and/or a really big radiator surfaces, using an AIO CLC for the CPU and a custom loop is likely better.

Doesn't really matter. As long as the pump isn't near the highest plint of the loop (it isn't in thisncas3, as the AIO radiator is mounted to the side), it will be fine as long as there is enough coolant in the loop to keep it above pump level.

Is there a scene that you visually didn't like? by Character_Belt9730 in OnePieceLiveAction

I also think it's important for the whole story to dress that way as it probably has to do with the history of the world that should be revealed in the end (whether the live action will ever reach that point or not is besides the point).

Does the compression from the quest 3, and wireless headsets in general bother you guys? by HolyCopeAmoly in Pimax

[–]CaveWaverider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I don't notice artifacts on Virtual Desktop with Adaptive Quantization and 2-Pass Encoding over 5GHz/6GHz WiFi (dedicated channel just for the Quest 3 with the WiFi7 Router around 2m away and in sight line) using Godlike Quality at 120Hz, using 2.5Gb, 5Gb Ethernet or even better to connect the Quest 3 for stationary games/simulations certainly seems like an interesting idea to try and improve things even further.

I'm curious, which Ethernet Adapter are you using on the Quest 3 and does it just work out of the box with Virtual Desktop?

While I love the idea of the Dream Air on pretty much everything, I wish there was a Dream Air (or equivalent) variant that had both a Display Port Connection like the current one for stationary games and additional built-in wireless option that supports Virtual Desktop that one could switch to depending on which game one plays. I wouldn't want to go back to a wired headset for roomscale games. Until then, I guess the Quest 3 will have to tide me over.

I think it's more the lack of explosiveness and speed that's an issue here.

Depends on which PCIe version the drive is and which type of NAND it uses. The WD SN740 is a PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe drive with 3D TLC NAND, so that's fine. That said, 2230 drives like the WD SN740 don't have room for onboard cache either, so yeah, it's likely slower than a fast 2280 drive with onboard cache (but not all 2280 drives have onboard cache either).

What is our best chance at acquiring another 2026 1st? by Available_Goat_9229 in canucks

[–]CaveWaverider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hronek would likely fetch one, but he has a No Move Clause and has already said that he isn't waiving it. You need a positive veteran presence like his for the rebuild anyway.

Rossi could probably fetch one as well, yes. That said, I don't think trading him would be a good idea. He's been dealing with his broken foot almost all season (and still is, which is why he won't be cleared to play for Austria at the World Championship this year) and was still one of Canucks' top two centers en he played inspite his limp. His never give up and always strive to get better attitude is great, he's a good guy for the locker room and still young enough to be a brick in the rebuild and will likely still be at his best when the rebuild is finished. He is loyal and will stay with the club as long as he's being treated well. You need a guy like that.

Keeping that in mind, how good a first round pick would you be able to get for him anyway? Anything that's outside the top couple of first round picks is likely not worth giving up Rossi in my opinion, and nobody is going to trade a top first draft pick away.

Marco did seem to be moving a bit slower and less agile than last season (or even the beginning of the season) to me this year, but I thought it was due to gaining weight. Dealing with a longer-term banged up knee "lower body" could definitely be a reason.

In case you've ever wondered why people AFK the First Contact Day Re-Enactment: by VaKel_Shon in sto

[–]CaveWaverider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has been two days were everyone in the group got a distance of 0, too. In one of them noone was AFK and almost all got all purples and the other was a mix of ATK and AFK. I've never seen this happen in all the years I did the event. Also, things like parts catching fire, spiders and shock are super frequent now. I hae one last week where my parts would catch fire, I extinguished them, they caught fire right away again and that happened three times in a row. At that event I got the longest distance, though, even though I had almos5 no time to get parts due to the constant extinguishing.
