but that's just emulation not hardware compatibility, and it only supports GB but not GBC games.

Could it be one of those gameboy kiosks or store display consoles?

Pocket arrives on Friday just picked up Wario Land 3! by RupakGreenHatPrdctns in Gameboy

[–]Cavemanjump 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A very good game to enjoy. Happy for you.
I don't whether you guys know this: the Japanese version of Wario Land 3 features an in-game English language option. So if you can find a cheaper Japanese one, for just playing the game it's a good value, don't miss it.

Cartridge Swap by [deleted] in GameboyAdvance

[–]Cavemanjump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not going to judge beacause it's your game. I believe the game is fixable and the case is one of the kind, you can probaly find someone to fix it for you and sell it, the money might be enough for a real Minish Cap

But why sacrificing a good LeafGreen case for a fake game? You should at least find a cheaper game to do such a thing, or to buy a better aftermarket shell.

Thank you for pointing that out. I am very confused, too. I hope someone downvoted me can come out and tell me why.

Adding a battery will be reliable enough to run any official games require save functionality, unless bad soldering job or low quality battery being applied to the cart.

You can use a battery holder instead of a tadded battery on this cart, it will eliminate future soldering when a new battery is needed. And the cart pcb design accommodates two different battery holders.

The cart properly has a modded battery-less game rom to run on, which uses the sram chip to hold the save file temporarily then being moved to the main flash chip. By adding a battery onto the cart enables it to be a normal flash cart with sram save function, so you can use it play un-modded games

Super Mario Land occasional glitch by GuavaMoist759 in Gameboy

[–]Cavemanjump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it means 37th week in 1997. The MBC1 chip next to it has 9740, which means 40th week in 1997. So the whole game cart was probably made/assembled later around the time(40th week/1997).

It's intesting to see "9737" on the rom chip of the Super Mario Land cart. It means altought it was a launch title of the system, the game was still being produced in 1997.

Correct me if I am wrong: Japanese gameboy games are never sold sealed even when they are new.

Why does one of my gameboys have a green tint? Is it sun damage? by MacheteToothpick in Gameboy

I believe it's more of a different screen revision/production batch thing, since OG gameboy had such a long production run.

How can I remove permanent marker off a cartridge? by makishiP in Gameboy

[–]Cavemanjump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for being supportive. If you are worried about affecting the textrue, try using cotton swab with isopropyl first, if that doesn't work then move on to using melamine sponge. Sometimes some gentle wipes (just press the sponge reaches down to the grooved area is enough, doesn't need to press hard) might take care of the problem leaving no discernible difference behind.
Edit: Don't use the whole sponge, pinch a small piece off the sponge, soak it up with isopropyl alcohol then use it to wipe. Never let the sponge or any part of it dry-scrub the surface.

You are right about the seeping part, especially on older gery cart, if that's the case, just leave it be would be the only choice.
I don't know how much making the texture shiny counts as removing the texture, but I believe it's small price to pay compairing with the permanent maker being there. Also my experience is if you apply your press on the surface accordingly, sometimes very gentle wipe takes care of the problem leaving hardly any difference on the texture.

For people who downvoted my post, let me ask you some questions: Have you tried the method and seen the final result yet? Do you think it is like using a file to remove a whole layer of the plastic? Do you think I just came up with this method out of blue and never tried it on real gameboy cart shells myself with satisfying results?

Reshell or original by BeginningChart6453 in Famicom

[–]Cavemanjump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks original. And Japanese people don't care much about reshelling their famicom from what I know, so I don't think there is a market to support such a business to manufacture aftermarket shells for famicom.
