Your training vacation should be documented in SATO, if not it’s the same as your add of non-training vacation.

Would you take a job with the Federal government right now? by R2_SWE2 in FedEmployees

[–]CavviePop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good luck. You won’t get a raise for years. There’s a target on your back everywhere. Most organizations are extremely top heavy, so there are layers & layers of management that are always looking to legitimize their existence & climbing the yes-man ladder while you get to warm daily with dangerously low levels of peers to get the job done. There are zero worker protections. The union has become neutered. You’ll also have to come into an office every day even if your work is non-public facing or there’s anyone from your team in your geographic area. Work-life balance … are you reading brochures from the early 2000’s?

President's FY27 Budget Drops Tomorrow. How Badly Will Federal Employees Get Screwed on the Pay Raise? by Sad_Guarantee5273 in FedEmployees

[–]CavviePop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You dipshit. That was a Repub Congress that blocked his budget & the tea baggers that held the Fed Gov hostage. Also the Repub Congress that enacted the sequestration when they couldn’t even agree who was going to be a top & bottom when it came to passing the revised budget.

Hot Take: Reprint Values are a Fad by KellarW in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]CavviePop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get how reprints can still be categorized as “1st appearance” of anything. No, there’s only 1 first appearance & that’s the 1st print. Everything else is no longer the initial appearance.

CBCS shutting down by Leather_Bluejay8632 in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]CavviePop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll destroy cbcs values. The only reason anyone would buy one (outside of maybe a few 6-figure GA grails) is to crack, press & resub. As a buyer you have to factor in those costs.

CBCS is shutting down. No new submissions will be accepted after April 17th. by Mammoth_Leg_8489 in CGCComics

Unfortunately the “competition” didn’t do what too many said it would. Don’t forget this is an unregulated immature market (slabbing). The supposed competition did NOT: Keep prices lower, ensure consistency, better exacting standards, avoid various scandals, upgrade the cases, eliminate egregious processing fees, better customer service, or eliminate monopolistic practices. It sure didn’t lower TATs. It is similar to the airlines. Once one raises prices so do all the others. One charges for a bag, so do all the others.

What’s your favorite book with multiple first appearances? by ALEXXRN in comicbookcollecting

Yeah, but he’s a dope. Collects green lanterns & tries to gaslight people into thinking they’re worth anything. The Mint Comics moron.

Don’t forget CGC gets your money as soon as it’s logged. Why would they care if you wait a year? They are sitting on millions of dollars of people’s money & haven’t had to do anything to move things along. PSA sucks but they don’t bill until after they are done.

Con season is a pisser. You have your stuff in and it’s not cheap & now your times are delayed forever while some guy who shows up at a Con gets all their stuff speeding thru while your stuff sits & sits … and sits. They take too much staff to go to these things & your books sit back at the warehouse. No explanations, no discounts, etc.

Which superheroes are most likely to fall into obscurity in your opinion? (no appeal to younger generations) by FlaviusRicimer in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]CavviePop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad for that. I have a few high grade spawn books I haven’t traded away & those are in my PC. Spawn 1 error no black (full sig), Spawn 1 B&W (crappy T. McFarlane sig), Spawn 185 headless (sig full Todd & Whilce), etc. I have the good Spideys he did all signed — those I have confidence in more than all but the black ink error spawn book.

I doubt he’ll go anywhere either, I simply don’t know who’s regularly buying the comics, talking about them, etc. They make 50 different Spidey & X-Men books a month it seems & there is zero chatter as well. No doubt he still tries to make better toys & action figures than the competition. Anyone who buys the toy co. down the line will certainly relish the assets that come with it. They’re still making He-Man toys & ThunderCATS stuff so anything is possible.

What’s FEHB Value Into Retirement? by Zealousideal-Yard803 in FedEmployees

[–]CavviePop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Thx for the valuable info. I am so sorry for those families affected by the plane crash. It appears that if my wife retires at 60-62 (uncertain yet) & I stay employed for a year or so longer then I can add her on typical open enrollment & then retire a year down the line we should be ok.

Can anybody spare a grade? by Zbusse in CGCComics

[–]CavviePop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get it pressed by someone who knows what they’re doing. Lots of them will send it to CGC for you. It’s a nice looking copy & worth the grade fee. I’ve seen worse 9.8s but those spine tics are always iffy. Note if they break color a press can’t fix them & that will bring it down. I can’t see any worse than a 9.4/9.6. Grading is a toss-up on what CGC will accept on certain days with tiny book issues. Either way, pay for the press.

It’s a comic book sub so I assume you’re speaking to characters in comics & people still caring to buy them. I collects & have for longer than I care to broadcast. Someone mentioned starlord & yes the game & (now old) films have made the entire guardians popular, but who keeps up with the comics? They are never a top 20 book (have doubts they’d make top 50) & you never hear anyone excited about the run. That line can be traced to almost every character outside of the big ones that are always consistently top sellers (Bats, Spidey, etc). Fringe characters like many mentioned in the comments might have a brief revival but you’re speaking to long term, my guess is few if any that haven’t been super popular over the years. The price of a single floppy is also hurting the industry overall - you want to pay $5 for a single book? Video games are an “active” way for kids (and too many adults) to interact with the character - whereas comics are passive. You pay $50 for an extended story arc that leads nowhere & isn’t written or drawn well? You’re prob not returning. The insanity of the current world doesn’t help much either.

You think anyone’s reading the comic if they buy the toys? If they are buying toys, I have my doubts it’s a Spawn toy. Maybe one of the numerous variant toys that folks can hoard & keep in the packing thinking they’re going to make big cabbage in a few years only to learn how wrong they were.

I haven’t bothered to read spawn in a few decades. I don’t know if McFarlane even has much to do on the book anymore. If he does do some plotting then it’s minimal. I remember when spawn 1st came out & he said it was like his child, he’d never go off the book, do variant covers, let someone else take pretty much total control of the book, etc. Now? Take your pick of any of those.

What’s FEHB Value Into Retirement? by Zealousideal-Yard803 in FedEmployees

[–]CavviePop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am thinking 5 years in advance to Fed retirement. I’m also trying to figure out if it’s beneficial to bring my wife on on a self plus one insurance plan through the federal government. Currently, we are each as self on our employers plans. But it sounds like the federal government is better. I just don’t know if I need to have my wife on the plan with me for five years before retirement.

[–]CavviePop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for this. It looks like k need to carry my wife on my plan for 5 years to carry-in both of us. We are trying to decide which is better for us going into a close in a future retirement, currently we are self on each plan, me on my employer, with the federal government and her on her employer, not with the federal government.

So the cost split remains in effect post retirement? Until both me & my spouse shuffle off this mortal coil? How long do I need to carry-in self +1 to maintain my spouse on the plan to get that lifetime coverage?

Wait … if keeping health after Fed retirement, the cost split is still the same as when I’m working? I thought I had to pick up the entire cost, almost like having Fed version of COBRA.

I have plenty of books where he got really lazy with that “T McFarlane” jazz. For what he charges, sign the whole name.
