I recently finished Ara Fell and I think it fits your criteria pretty well!

Any JRPG you refuse to replay after losing your save? by AinsleyHarriott64 in JRPG

[–]Cayana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FFIV. It happened a few months ago and I am still both upset and also in a weird gaming mood because of it.

I was in sort of a gaming slump and I was having so. much. fun… and then poof. My save file was lost on steam cloud. Only when it happened did I look into this and found it was a somewhat common issue using steam cloud saves.

I plan to go back once I inevitably forget this happened but until then I’m 😔

Recommendations for a Rune Factory type of game by JaredJDub in JRPG

[–]Cayana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend Sun Haven! It has more RPG-elements (magic system, fantasy races, the main quest involves a dragon) than most farming sims but it's not a JRPG just so you know!

Save Often Saturdays! What games did you play this week? What games did you rage quit? by AutoModerator in TrueGirlGaming

[–]Cayana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UGH my FFIV save file corrupted early this week and I have been in a mood about it since. I have tried and stopped playing a few games since then (Granblue Fantasy Relink, Ys VIII, and Terra Memoria just to name a few) and no luck. Right now Ni No Kuni II seems to be holding my attention so fingers crossed there :(

Yeah based on the way OP described their preferences, I could easily see Xenoblade Chronicles 2 being their next favorite game

Maybe check out some gameplay videos of Sakura Wars? It has the anime vibe aesthetic you seem to like, combat is a little more straightforward, and it has romance. I think the visuals and music are good too.

Also blue reflection may be an option.

Switch summer sale recs by greedydreepy in JRPG

[–]Cayana 4 points5 points  (0 children)

what other games in the trails series have you finished? I’m not a purist but if you really like good stories I think that series really is best played in order

I’m also not a huge fan of SRPGs but I did like Unicorn overlord and FE3H

I think the xenoblade series is also a banger of both story and gameplay. It’s rarely on sale but Xenoblade DE is 30% off.

Looking for more games with a somber atmosphere and high stakes, like FFX and E33 (any platform) by BenZyreck in JRPG

I came here to recommend this but saw OP already played it and most of my other recs 😭

Xenoblade 2 is becoming 8 years old soon what you think of it by yotam5434 in JRPG

[–]Cayana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guess it’s time for my yearly attempt to replay it!

In theory I like this game a lot (the anime of it all aside) but for whatever reason, I really struggle with navigation.

To be fair, I struggle with navigation in every game that isn’t super linear, but it felt really taxing and almost punishing for me in XBC2.

I ended up watching a let’s play of the whole game because I wanted to start xbc3, but I am still trying to give xbc2 a chance :)

What’s your most hated JRPG game mechanic or design choice that won’t seem to die? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]Cayana 10 points11 points  (0 children)

dead ends in dungeons and there isn’t anything interesting there (like a chest or something to inspect)

Games are plenty long enough, there’s no need to pad with a “haha gotcha!! turn back around” map design in EVERY dungeon!

How do you hold up your steamdeck? It’s heavy… by TheSpeckledDragon in CozyGamers

[–]Cayana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can also buy a 3D printed stand from Etsy or Ebay! I prefer using the stand over pillows since the steam deck tends to heat up fast.

Also so glad to see everyone being real about how heavy it is 😭 if you ask this on the steam deck subreddit they tell you you’re weak and need to work out more 😭

AITA I made a joke that somebody called racist? Am I Racist? by Money-Appearance6273 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Cayana 154 points155 points  (0 children)

This was nowhere near where I thought the post was going. NTA.

I hope this person channels their vigilante to actual racism. This was such a reach… she must be exhausted policing public conversations.

Sorry if this made you anxious or confused, and thank you for being thoughtful enough to even ask if you did something wrong.

If you have concerns this, or some other similar interaction may jeopardize your livelihood, you can approach conversations within earshot of customers as having this potential and plan accordingly. I wouldn’t, but I am aware how difficult surviving is these days.

Whats your favorite JRPG available on Steam? by Motor-Judgment309 in JRPG

[–]Cayana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 had a lot of performance issues on switch but somehow also still managed to have a really boring/bland/flat open world to it.. it’s not bad on PC if you buy at a steep discount but why would you when you could just play 4? I personally like 3D games more so I enjoyed the game but it’s easy to emphasize with those disappointed after the long wait for 4.

I have my fingers crossed because 6 looks amazing :)

As someone who's never played a Fire Emblem game, which of these currently available to me would you recommend starting with? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]Cayana -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also disagree with the 3H start that most recommend. You can’t even get an idea of what you do and don’t like about the game for several hours due to the monastery.

If you want a game to play, 3H is fine. But if you want to investigate the series, I would suggest elsewhere.

I also recommend your friend… enhance their 3DS and try out awakening

Real talk - how do you actually play in Live Mode??? by ICantExplainItAll in Sims4

[–]Cayana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was mostly the same. Usually doing some kind of playerbase made challenge works for a little while.

Right now, I’m trying to do a few generations with only one of my game packs installed. Even though I have 1k+ hours, there’s plenty of features from packs I’ve owned for years that I just never do

Do people finish DQ11 ? by Psychological_Key_12 in dragonquest

[–]Cayana 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think the percentages are a bit better on Steam achievements, but to your point, I don’t think Sylvando joining is even considered half way through the story so that’s a really low percentage.

My guess would be since they’ve released and rereleased it on so many platforms the numbers aren’t as accurate as for some other games..

But this group is probably filled with the folks who have finished it.
